red lipstick or how to deal with the grey weather

sh10
Lately it has been grey grey grey and rainy!
Its getting alot tougher to get up in the morning, let alone get motivated
when its dark almost all day.
To fight this, I have started to wear red lipstick all day, as well as injecting some colour into my wardrobe.
Iv even been thinking of taping the windows of the studio with this
palm tree, beach wallpaper!? Hmm…
For now, A huge coffee should help a bit.
What do you do to keep warm and motivated in winter?

Sadly, I just lost my great new red lipstick: only one day after I bought it,
and it was a really amazing one. Now I am not sure to invest again!?
Its grey today though…

weddings and trees

I really love massive old trees, they look so very wise and calm.
Everytime I see one, I really have to stop and appreciate it for a few moments.
A wedding under a grand old tree is a wonderful idea, and you would hardly need any more decorations, perhaps just lanterns for the evening,
but a tree as the one obove is both a special location and perfect decoration
at the same time.
I recently found a few cool wedding pictures including stunning trees.
If my wedding for some reason shouldn’t be under a palm tree, an oak tree would happilly do.

can we? shall we?

I want to be with you…

These could totally be Liv’s favorite flower.
When I saw this picture I really fell in love with its beauty,
and as I have told you before I am not a big flower expert.
I was excited to see a flower that really gets me excited,
so I started googling the name and the meaning. Crown Anemone:
“forsaken” and also “a dying hope”
Who the f*ck did this to such a beautiful flower?!
I decided that this couldn’t be right, so I did a little bit more research and
voilà: “I want to be with you!”
Ha! Much better. I guess the others were mistaken ; )

Illusion is the first of all pleasures

spiel-27
artwork by Kinga Dunikowska via Brot und Spiele Galerie
I recently went to see a stunning art exhibition
The first of all pleasures by my friend Kinga Dunikowska.

The project NEU is perfect if you are looking for a very special
(wedding) gift:
They are a limited edition, small hand stitched picture,
showing the word “new”.
Each picture in a different language of the world: NEU, NY, NEW………..
They look fabulous together but also work well as single objects.
All stitched in white glitter sequins, they make a wonderful and poetric statement.
Contact Brot und Spiele Gallery to buy one of her beautiful works.
I loved all parts of the exhibition.

At my farewell party (bye bye Berlin) on the weekend I got one of her amazing
artworks stating “NEW”. I couldn’t have received anything more beautiful or better themed right now.

Kinga Dunikowska is known for her installations, which take the spectator to generally known, but purely virtual places. With poetry and with a wink, the contemplator gets seduced and becomes often enough part of the staging.
In her older works the places are mostly mystical and part of a narrative or mythological tradition. Now the artist builts her newest work around a strict abstract question. But the result is not less enchanting.
Oscar Wilde’s conclusion »Illusion is the first of all pleasures« gets deconstructed by Kinga Dunikowska and like a complex mechanism separeted into it’s main components. That her poetic interpretation is neither limited to the aesthetical surface nor to an exclusively subjective perspective, but also describes the motor of our society, must be seen as an exceptional quality of this work.
However, the exhibition offers all components for a new mythology: The all-seeing eye of god, a tree of knowledge, melancholy, beauty and seduction through the attraction of the eternal new.

oh la la Berlin Wedding

Liv recently interviewed Anne-Laure and Axel about their really cool
and off beat Berlin wedding.
They are living in Berlin and Paris (what a great combination by the way!)
but what made this wedding so special and unforgettable was that
absolutely everyone had an unforgettable time.
img_52531
I really love the locations they picked: The old swimming pool,
filled with balloons is such a stylish yet playful dancefloor.

The small russian cafe KVARTIRA they had their (homemade!) lunch buffet in after the ceremony, is just so laid back and totally not over the top.
I like the urban street cafe atmosphere they have created.
p1010064

When I asked them about their favorite moments of the wedding
HE answered THE PLANNING (hear that everyone? Planning is not only stressful, it can be the most fun part of your wedding)
He compared the wedding planning to event and party planning he did before and liked it that much that he even would like to help other couples with their planning.
img_5275

He added, the best moments were after the ceremony when they looked at each other with the “woohooo now were married” looks.
And thats also what she said: walking out of the townhall, next to each other knowing that your now married, that was the best moment ever.
Suuronuded by all loved ones together to help celebrate this special moment with them was
a wonderful experience they are very thankful of.
They only invited their dearest friends and closest family members.
imgp6609
The invitations were designed by the couple themselves they created a contemporary poster, with an engagement photo, nice love song quotes
and of course the details for their wedding.
And also a rad idea to cut the costs.
It was important to them to plan everything their own and personal way, no matter if its traditional or not. Their one rule was: Nothing kitschy.

Asking Anne-Laure about her great bride style she said she put kind of randomly together!
Her mum found the Georges Rech jacket in a design outlet, she got the Max Azria dress through a friend at a special price and loved it immediately, her golden flats are from a little boutique in her neighbourhood.
Axels suit is by BOSS.

CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN! And thanks for sharing everything with us.

chi sing

If you are in Berlin and looking for a place to eat and at the same time
want to get some great home/interiour/ wedding decoration inspiration:
Don’t miss Chi Sing!
Liv loves this place and just took Lav there the other week.
The origami pieces hanging from the ceiling, would be great wedding decoration.
The mis-matching chairs: LOVE!
Food: Incredible!

Drinks: Even better (if thats possible)

Fresh and healthy dishes, decorated with love and peace. The interior theme is obviously inspired by the challenging Origami technique.
Huê is the capital city of Thua Thiên in Vietnam. Between 1802 and 1945, it was the imperial capital of the Nguyên Dynasty. As such, it is well known for its monuments and architecture.
The cuisine of Huê draws from throughout Vietnam, but one of the most striking differences is the prominence of vegetarianism in the city.

Alright, now Im really getting hungry!

men should look like, well, men !

imeless Ready-to-Wear Shirts built of Our Bespoke Tradition
thats the new idea and strategy of the classic shirt label
Hamilton.
Classic shirts in good quality, because as it says on their website:
Clothes should fit, fabrics should breathe and men should look like, well, men.
Called 1883, the line references the year of our founding—and recasts some of our more historic designs in timeless, new forms. Because, sometimes, charging ahead into the future is the best way to honor your past.

I totally agree. Mix it up with some wild stuff !

Liv is back to full draping fun in the studio, beginning work on the toiles and sketches for the next collection.
Don’t get to excited just yet, there won’t be any unveiling until the time for the official launch of the new collection, which will still be quite a long time away…

But I promise to keep you up to date in the process though, with sketches,
first drapes and moodboards.
One new dress available on request would be this one :
livkleid

I made it for myself one day in black to wear during Fashion Week,
and got so much great feedback on this one, you can now order it in white as a wedding dress.

This is a cocktail/bridesmaid dress I created for a friend, its funny to see her in a fancy dress, because she is normally a complete tomboy.

I am totally turned on right now by an old painting of Amor and Psyche.
But dont worry, the dresses wont be in old fashioned kitschy angelic stylings of course.
The painting is an inspiration, and that will translate for Global Season 2011.
Just to give you an idea of the theme for the new collection.

red veils and candy…

photo via colormag.com
Greek brides wore traditional wedding veils of yellow or red, which represented fire. These brightly colored veils were supposed to protect the bride from evil spirits and demons.
Now thats a good reson to wear red headpieces!
The engagement rings, which also serve as the wedding rings, are traditionally blessed twice. When the couple becomes officially engaged, the priest blesses the rings and the couple will wear the rings on their left hand until the wedding. At the wedding ceremony, the priest once again blesses the rings at which time the bride and groom switches the rings to the right hand. This is really practical and nice since both of you will have an engagement ring.

A Greek bride may carry a lump of sugar on her wedding day to ensure she has a sweet life,or she might carry ivy, as a symbol of endless love. Speaking of candy: The guest are also offered sweet stuff: Candied almonds are considered a favorite at some wedding receptions. However, at a Greek wedding, candied almonds are given to guests immediately following the ceremony. The almonds are usually distributed in a cloth or tulle covering and guests can expect to receive an odd number of the edible delicacies.
