there is no greater risk than matrimony.
but there is nothing happier than a happy marriage.*

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Its the greatest challenge one can face, the highest risk...
But that is what keeps it interesting right?
If you need more reasons check out ESB’s guest post with
10 reasons why being married is just better.

This best answer for sceptical persons EVER I’ve found at
A Practical Wedding:
Me: D. and I got engaged! Yayyyyy!!!
Her: Oh. That’s nice. I don’t believe in marriage.
Me: ……….
Me: Um. It’s not fairies. You don’t have to DO it, but it does exist.

Great tipps to stay happy you can find at the guest post series Secrets To A Happy Marriage

go and get your sketchbook out

Dave said the other day he would love to design the engagement ring for his
one-day fiancee himself. He is a designer, so that would probably end up in a pretty fantastic piece of jewelry.
I saw that a lot of jewellery designers offer a bespoke service, which is really
cool if you have this stunning idea in your head and another plus is:
A ring like that will really be one of a kind.

Some girls do not think diamonds are their best friends. We are generally those sorts of girls. We don’t dismiss the humble rocks, we just think that jewelry can be pushed further than the boundaries of a single solitaire perched on a band. We’re very smart, you see. Ah, but see how smart we are when you swing this ring slowly in our line of vision. We drool, we covet, we get wobbly in the knees. Quote from Catbird NYC

Here are some awesome designers that could help you realise your ideas:
ORIA in London works with ethical sourced gold, silver and diamonds.
BITTERSWEETS in New York do rad custom designs as well.
Thomas Bartussek in Berlin is always open for new ideas!

And now: Go and get your sketchbook out!

jar junk

It’s probably not the latest idea to use jars as environmental- and budget friendly wedding deco items. But I still like them. As laterns, picture frames, drink glasses…

Dave* has an obsessive jar collector. So this post is dedicated to his little obsession.
He is even enjoying the process of getting the labels off and has purchased a special cleaning liquid to do that.
They quite handy for all the sewing accessories in my studio!

alternatives to wedding bands

photos found here and here
I did some wedding tattoo research, though I am not totally into the idea.
I love real jewelry too much and also love the traditonal idea of exchanging the rings.
That would obviously not work with tatoos.
Anna And the Ring is on wedding band hunt.
As a doctor she has to wash her hands all the time and is not a massive fan of loads of bling on her hands. She already “has to” wear this stunning engagement ring.

For all the tatoo lovers among you or as an additional idea, ON TOP OF A RING ; ) , you can find my favorites above! As well as HERE & HERE

share your bed with others!

An old-fashioned wedding ritual does still take place in THAILAND today.
Don’t be alarmed if you are led to the honeymoon suite to find
an old couple sitting on your bed waiting to greet you! The idea is that an old couple are evidence of a long and successful marriage. Their knowledge and good luck is then imparted to the newlyweds in a number of different ways. They may say how ‘lucky the bed feels’ hinting that the newly married couple will have children. Bags of rice and coins may be placed on the bed along with a number of other items all acting as symbols of prosperity and fertility. Tradition states that the newlyweds share their bed with these objects for the next 3 nights.
You may be relieved to hear that the old couple don’t also stay in the bed for 3 nights!

Origami Snack Bowls

On Friday I have been to a stunning art opening.
This was where I spotted a really cool and easy DIY decoration idea for weddings.
All you need is a few big sheets of strong paper!
And I guess everyone knows back from primary school days how to fold this shape ; )
Just flip it over and fill with crisps, nuts or candy : Voilà!

something old

As crazy as I am about new experimental jewelry designers,
as much I do like old/vintage jewelry.
It seems so very magical to me.
The other day I came across a random 2nd hand jewelry shop in our neighbourhood and it got me.
I started to think about the story they had to tell.
Some girls get really lucky by “inheriting” an engagement ring of the mother or grandmother of their
soon to be husband. I love Anna’s engagament ring.
And I can’t wait to attend her wedding in November this year.
She helped me out with a couch while I was flat hunting in London and she really is wild at heart and weird on top! And I have seen this ring in real. It is stunning!

There will be a chihuahua puppygirl in my life in a few months!!!
That’s not quite a wedding related topic but it will inspire me for the upcoming dresses.

I would be happy if you want to join in with name suggestions,
or general advice, book recommandations for chihuahuas or whatever.

This has been the first time in my life that I am without a dog.
It just doesn’t feel right, something is missing.
