back to dirty dalston

photo via the great design platform Object Design League
We finally moved back.
Back to dirty Dalston (East London) in a brand new flat in our old beloved building.
There is still so much to set up and unpack and get to make it a real home, but it feels already fantastic.
There is so much light and space.
And I am having internet again, from tonight. Now we only need some plants and cutlery…
One week we have been constantly unpacking and building and I am bruised and exhausted.
But I am in love with this new place already.

My dream home

image found here

My first dream house was the “VILLA KUNTERBUNT” which is the house of Pippi Longstocking.
When I was 4 years old I was obsessed by her, she had it all.
A big house without parents, cool pets, cake for breakfast, a huge box of gold coins and good friends.

Today most inspiration for my dream home comes from The Selby, where most houses actually do have a lot in common with the Villa Kunterbunt.
The site is so addictive and always creates big house-envy.
But I am getting closer to my dream home, step by step.
Our living situation will improve drastically next month.
We are moving house and just found a fabulous BIG flat
in the same fantastic old factory building.
We will be sharing with a couple from Paris, très chic.
And guess what? My new flatmate is a vegan baker! YAY & YUM.
What does your dream home look like? And is it a long way to go?

Bridal Bouqet !?

I like it!
And it reminds me that my new place in London still really lacks plants.
Now that London’s Autumn fully kicked in I spend more time inside I miss greens. And flowers.
We have awesome flower markets here in London and this weekend I will
go and create something wild and beautiful for our room!

livs golden skull minibar

Last sunday while wandering around Broadway Market after breakfast at
l’eau a La Bouche (highly recommended!)
we discoverd in a magical little furniture & antique shop
full of cool little things, from issey miyake catwalk sunglasses, to the most amazing teapot set…
I could have bought the whole shop (but the price tags didn’t allow me to do so)
At least Liv found loads of inspiration- for free!

The golden skull mini home bar arrangement really got me.
The white painted wood table with a mirror table top decorated with golden paint, a shiny skull candle and a set of different antique cocktail glasses with golden rim:
Perfection!
I am a sucker for almost everthing golden anyway.
And I wanted to share it with you because of it’s weddingy festiveness.
So? Who’s is gonna rock something like that on their wedding?

jar junk

It’s probably not the latest idea to use jars as environmental- and budget friendly wedding deco items. But I still like them. As laterns, picture frames, drink glasses…

Dave* has an obsessive jar collector. So this post is dedicated to his little obsession.
He is even enjoying the process of getting the labels off and has purchased a special cleaning liquid to do that.
They quite handy for all the sewing accessories in my studio!

coffee & home

Behind every successful woman is a substantial amount of coffee.
And even if I am living in London now, I will NEVER switch to tea.
High on caffeine, I will always create the best dresses.
As much as I love grabbing my coffee to go in the morning:
The most important item on my ONE-DAY-WHEN-I-AM-GROWN-UP-WISHLIST is my very own espresso maschine.
(Maybe with a few packages of David Lynch Organic Espresso.)

Is there anything you always wanted for your home?

P.S: I start to ask myself when this “one day” will be.
Will Liv ever settle down and start to build a nest?
Will this restless feeling ever stop?
And will there be someone waiting for me with a coffeemaschine?

add some color part I

sun-collage

Did I just say I am desparate for some sunshine? The latest collection of Dinosaur is inspired by the SUN.
All this powerful yellow, orange and red shades combined with gold are instantly getting me into summer mood.
Liv loves that the collection is presented on the naked body ; )

(Go,go,go away endless German snowy winter, please, Liv is a summergirl!)

I recently found a lot colorful designs that would match perfectly with a white dress and could be worn again and again.
My first “add some color post” is about the Sydney based jewelry/homeware design company Dinosaur.
The Team consists of Louise Olsen, Stephen Ormandy and Liane Rossler. They have managed to intersect the boundaries between art, craft, design, fashion and business without pause, and have applied the same creative energy and focused vision to each new opportunity. The Dinosaurs have forged an important place for themselves within Australian design history, not only through their longevity and popularity but also through the distinctively Australian character of their work, with many of the colours and forms they use evoking the casual lifestyle and vibrant natural landscape of Australia. -Brian Parkes Curator, Object Gallery
They also care about the environment in different ways, so you can be sure you’ll support sustainable designs.

liv loves blackboard paint

Blackboard paint is so much fun…
you can write each other messages , write down notes,
wishlists, shoppinglist, or just draw little sketches.

Liv feels a bit crafty right now.I am really in the mood to create a new home.
I still want this stairs. And a golden bathroom. Don’t ask me why.
At the same time I know that I will be moving several more times, so all this ideas are for : one day

weddings and trees part II

forestmoodboard-kopie
still inspired by the wonderful tree photograph I put together a
forest inspired (wedding-) mood board. (yeah I know this is not art! )
You know already that Liv and Lav are living in a imaginery treehouse
far up in the Positivity Tree? And we are close to finally living together in London!

But back to the topic: Treeeeees.
And forest wedding- and home inspiration.
I am sure this bed (via anthropologie) with bedding (via can’t remember) like above could give you the full treehouse feeling, even in the city.
We had forest jewelry already here and I recently saw a few great pieces for men and women here at DEANNA COCHRAN
Dresses theLELALAMBone and theLALAone would be great for a forest wedding. Find out more here.

Livs lastest interior/apartment crush that I can’t stop thinking about
is the GLASSHOUSE a project from an artist couple in Tel Aviv.
The idea behind it is
Art should be presented in a place that allows staying

I met Lital Dotan & Eyal Perry a few months ago here in Berlin after an exhibition at a dinner party.
Thats when they told me about their amazing project.
Their whole house is not only their living space its at the same time
an art project, where they are inviting artists from all over the world
to live and work with them or alone on a project.
They offer it as a residency.
Its called Glasshouse because there is almost no room for intimitacy,
except for the door to the bathroom, the place is really open.
During the opening hours you can find on their website its open to public like a gallery space.

What is most inspiring for Liv is that they just decorated the place with found and old things almost randomly picked together and in the sum of its parts it became a really stylish and beautiful environment.
I really want to have a place like this one day! An inspiring place to live and work.
Can’t wait to see it for real. Hopefully Ill manage to visit them next year.

P.S: Love the white painted floor it’s like here in my studio!

chi sing

chising1
If you are in Berlin and looking for a place to eat and at the same time
want to get some great home/interiour/ wedding decoration inspiration:
Don’t miss Chi Sing!
Liv loves this place and just took Lav there the other week.
The origami pieces hanging from the ceiling, would be great wedding decoration.
The mis-matching chairs: LOVE!
Food: Incredible!

Drinks: Even better (if thats possible)

Fresh and healthy dishes, decorated with love and peace. The interior theme is obviously inspired by the challenging Origami technique.
Huê is the capital city of Thua Thiên in Vietnam. Between 1802 and 1945, it was the imperial capital of the Nguyên Dynasty. As such, it is well known for its monuments and architecture.
The cuisine of Huê draws from throughout Vietnam, but one of the most striking differences is the prominence of vegetarianism in the city.

Alright, now Im really getting hungry!

laura ashley door knobs, or is Liv going crazy…!?

I just fell in love with these. Uhm I am usually not into kitchy girly
homestuff, but I saw these tonight on a bathroom door in my
friends apartment, and these are definitely really cool ones.
They looked so beautiful and very funny, they made me smile.

And yes! I think they are cool!

wild promises

Queensize duvet by Glasgow-based artist David Shrigley
I love the sketchiness of his work.

“In all his work, Shrigley seems to insist on giving place to the abnormal and plays to our fears of the dis-alike, the odd, the peculiar, the insane and irregular, the out-of-control.
So who is he who did this? Well, he’s a big, tall Englishman with a great sense of humour and an odd but likable view of the world. A chronicler of the everyday with an eye for the absurd, the over-looked, the unspeakable and the small rather than the routine or the spectacular.”

But now: Let’s go back to bed:
The best part of being in London every few weeks is that I am working a lot from the bed/office. It can sometimes mean enjoying cold pizza and tasty champagne in bed after work, and It definitely means getting alot more sleep when I am here. This bed is so unbelievably comfy!!!
I already wrote a few months ago, how much I love beds…..here.
Uhm: By the way, Im not JUST hanging out in bed when I am here OF COURSE, I am seeing a lot of art, music, I am working, and meeting new people, partying and improving my language skills.
Now sleep hard and dream rock’n’roll.

from disco to disco

The ultimate feature for a home that knows how to party!
I love the contrast between the dark wood and the playful,
kitschy mirror ball effect…
Just a shame i dont have stairs in my apartment!

Liv came across this awesome INTERIORS.
I love BLACK and WHITE and this BATHROOM
adds my 3rd favorite color: GOLD
Maybe I start dreaming of coming home someday…
Liv has chronical travel fever, always wants to get away.
Not settling. My home is messy, most of the time.
Working 24/7 going back and forth between London and Berlin.
Loosing myself somewhere on the way.
When I found this pictures there was a strong calming feeling.
Liv loves white in apartments, gives me so so so much.
Inner peace somehow.
So if I had a home to decorate right now, it would look similar
to the pictures above. Found them randomly here.
Ah well…ONE DAY ; )
