The dress above is one of many great costumes by Christian Lacroix for the Agrippina Opera currently shown at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin

What a stunning dramatic wedding dress this piece would make!?

I haven’t seen this opera live but I am in love with the photos and I really feel
like going to the theater soon.(it has been a while)
This one will be a great fashion inspiration. So: If you are planning a Berlin trip soon: GO!

highfahion jellies forever

jpg-melissa-shoe
Rad! JEAN PAUL GAULTIER X MELISSA - will be available in black, caramel, beige, lime and tangerine.

Nope. You wouldn’t convince me jellies are not cool, or sooo over,
or not suitable for a wedding!
After the great Heart Stilettos by Vivienne Westwood and the
coolest shoe in the world by Zaha Hadid, there will be a new designer style launching in June 2010 this time by Jean Paul Gaultier.
Liv loves melissa shoes: They are eco- and animal friendly and having a great design on a really good price.
Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

(Oh and they don’t pay me or offer me free shoes. I think they should though)

I feel you

Jenny Holzer a striking women and artist.
I was talking about her art with a dear friend of mine today.
Liv loves her work and I spent some time to have a look at
the stunning city projections she did.
Strong words as usual. And some really got me.
You might know her quote: PROTECT ME FROM WHAT I WANT
“I feel you” is maybe one of the more positive ones matching
this wedding themed blog best ; )

05-large

“I breathe” something you should always have in mind,
when feeling overwhelmed or anxious.
Deep breathes are helping me to move on right now
and getting the exciting 2nd Blushless collection done!
Stay focused ; )

All photographs by Aya&Ned
This year started pretty wild.
But I just heard the news: February is the new January ; )
Even if January was running with a million miles an hour, I will now find time to focus on the new years goals.

Today Liv wants to share the intense work of the NYC based artist couple
Ned & Aya.
Aya Rosen recently contacted me through a fashion/art networking site.
She requested my dresses for a new photographing project, she wants to do together with her husband.
I liked their artworks and projects as well as their personal story.
They met online and lived in different parts of the world, before she decided to left her old life behind and turned her online relationship into a “real” offline one. It worked out, obviously.
Don’t you think its really interesting if couples are doing art together?
Liv loves it.

They have different websites: Louchelab.com seems to be their main site, which gives a great overview and links to all different projects as well as their blogs. The Aya&Ned site is for their photography and they have done an erotic site as well.

They come in mens and womens sizes and are designed in New York.

Carla Venticinque-Osborn & Aaron Osborn are not only designing shoes, check out their other projects and artworks.
I am always fascinated by artist- and creative couples who are working together.

Maybe that will become one topic for this blog!?

the glasshouse

Livs lastest interior/apartment crush that I can’t stop thinking about
is the GLASSHOUSE a project from an artist couple in Tel Aviv.
The idea behind it is
Art should be presented in a place that allows staying

I met Lital Dotan & Eyal Perry a few months ago here in Berlin after an exhibition at a dinner party.
Thats when they told me about their amazing project.
Their whole house is not only their living space its at the same time
an art project, where they are inviting artists from all over the world
to live and work with them or alone on a project.
They offer it as a residency.
Its called Glasshouse because there is almost no room for intimitacy,
except for the door to the bathroom, the place is really open.
During the opening hours you can find on their website its open to public like a gallery space.

What is most inspiring for Liv is that they just decorated the place with found and old things almost randomly picked together and in the sum of its parts it became a really stylish and beautiful environment.
I really want to have a place like this one day! An inspiring place to live and work.
Can’t wait to see it for real. Hopefully Ill manage to visit them next year.

P.S: Love the white painted floor it’s like here in my studio!

can we? shall we?

Illusion is the first of all pleasures

spiel-27
artwork by Kinga Dunikowska via Brot und Spiele Galerie
I recently went to see a stunning art exhibition
The first of all pleasures by my friend Kinga Dunikowska.

The project NEU is perfect if you are looking for a very special
(wedding) gift:
They are a limited edition, small hand stitched picture,
showing the word “new”.
Each picture in a different language of the world: NEU, NY, NEW………..
They look fabulous together but also work well as single objects.
All stitched in white glitter sequins, they make a wonderful and poetric statement.
Contact Brot und Spiele Gallery to buy one of her beautiful works.
I loved all parts of the exhibition.

At my farewell party (bye bye Berlin) on the weekend I got one of her amazing
artworks stating “NEW”. I couldn’t have received anything more beautiful or better themed right now.

Kinga Dunikowska is known for her installations, which take the spectator to generally known, but purely virtual places. With poetry and with a wink, the contemplator gets seduced and becomes often enough part of the staging.
In her older works the places are mostly mystical and part of a narrative or mythological tradition. Now the artist builts her newest work around a strict abstract question. But the result is not less enchanting.
Oscar Wilde’s conclusion »Illusion is the first of all pleasures« gets deconstructed by Kinga Dunikowska and like a complex mechanism separeted into it’s main components. That her poetic interpretation is neither limited to the aesthetical surface nor to an exclusively subjective perspective, but also describes the motor of our society, must be seen as an exceptional quality of this work.
However, the exhibition offers all components for a new mythology: The all-seeing eye of god, a tree of knowledge, melancholy, beauty and seduction through the attraction of the eternal new.

wild promises

image via third drawer down
Queensize duvet by Glasgow-based artist David Shrigley
I love the sketchiness of his work.

“In all his work, Shrigley seems to insist on giving place to the abnormal and plays to our fears of the dis-alike, the odd, the peculiar, the insane and irregular, the out-of-control.
So who is he who did this? Well, he’s a big, tall Englishman with a great sense of humour and an odd but likable view of the world. A chronicler of the everyday with an eye for the absurd, the over-looked, the unspeakable and the small rather than the routine or the spectacular.”

written by Katharina Brown

But now: Let’s go back to bed:
The best part of being in London every few weeks is that I am working a lot from the bed/office. It can sometimes mean enjoying cold pizza and tasty champagne in bed after work, and It definitely means getting alot more sleep when I am here. This bed is so unbelievably comfy!!!
I already wrote a few months ago, how much I love beds…..here.
Uhm: By the way, Im not JUST hanging out in bed when I am here OF COURSE, I am seeing a lot of art, music, I am working, and meeting new people, partying and improving my language skills.
Now sleep hard and dream rock’n’roll.

SNOWBERRY GIVEAWAY GIVEAWAY!!!

artwork by London Artist Rob Ryan for Snowberry
I have a pretty awesome GIVEAWAY for you this month:
snowberry_core-range_eye-serum-15ml-kopie
I discovered SNOWBERRY the natural skincare from New Zealand,
during Berlin Fashion Week. We exhibited at the same green, luxury trade show. Thats how Liv got some great samples of their products. Their Eye Serum is really helpful against Livs puffy eyes in the morning. I was happy to win them as a Blog Sponsor, especially as I like the philosophy of the company:

They do not test on animals; and Snowberry is a certified carbon-neutral enterprise by CarboNZero™ because they accept our responsibility to future generations.
Snowberry Founder, Cosmetician Soraya Hendesi’s lifelong fascination with ‘natural beauty’ and her frustration in being unable to find skincare that she felt she could trust, prompted her to begin the demanding but exciting process of creating her own range.
Snowberry, she says, is ‘authentic skincare’ that women can trust to be both safe and effective, because that is what she wanted for herself, her family and her friends. Find out more here.

For your chance to win a original size Bottle of SMOOTIHNG EYE SERUM
all you have to do is leave a comment completing the following sentence:

LOVE IS…..

Closing date will be 24th September 2009
The winner will be chosen at random on the 25th
GOOD LUCK!

Photography: Emma Summerton.

Oh Emma! How much I adore your photographs! You are definitely one of my favorite photographers…
Especially because she was one of the first photographers adopting the polaroid trend, working most of the time in old motels making self portraits.

And you know what? The whole thing started as a LOVE PROJECT
for her boyfriend, they had a LDR for years and very little time
together, so she started to shoot amazing self portraits on POLAROID to
send them to him.

She is also famous for her shoe photography.
This pair pictured would be the best DISCO DISCO BRIDAL CHOICE.

Find out how to support the impossible project to re-start production of analog instant film for vintage Polaroid cameras in 2010.

Happy Ever After

spiel-262
image “see love differently” via Brot und Spiele Galerie

Liv attended a Love Tour today. And learned LOVE CONQUERS ALL.
I was reminded to believe in Happy Ends through this stunning art experience. Exactly when I needed it the most.
Liv has been a horrible girlfriend this week.
Kind of a moody mess, cause I was just stressed out
with my business and missing Lav on top, was too much.
Especially in a LDR it’s hard. I guess a hug would already
help in such situations…
The exhibition tonight was just magical, bringing me back into
childhood, just being silly and creative.
This art was healing.
Realising I am so very happy to have Lav in my life.
Even if we can’t live in the same place right now.
In the end LOVE is the most important thing.
Just saying.

»HAPPY EVER AFTER«
This July, Nomad (DE) and Abner Preis (USA) will take you into a love story, which takes place on the street and braves all the bizarre scents, scenarios and encounters of a city as Berlin becomes both lover and location in their tale. The story begins at the gallery, where the pair will exhibit work created in the process of making the story they will tell. After viewing the work, guests are invited to follow them as they make their way through Berlin and take the story and audience on an intimate tour. In this telling, the story is never stagnant and always takes place right now, mixing media and emotion, embracing the forgotten with the abandoned and speaking of love by unfolding various shades of fiction. »These are two of the artists I’ve enjoyed watching, knowing and spending time with most in the last decade. It is the art of living and each is committed enough to take this work seriously. The focus appears as almost militant sincerity/spontaneity in an age of seduction/ calculation.«
H. Levey, Editor in Chief Modart Magazine

The party afterwards wasn’t bad either. ; )
