alternatives to wedding bands

photos found here and here
I did some wedding tattoo research, though I am not totally into the idea.
I love real jewelry too much and also love the traditonal idea of exchanging the rings.
That would obviously not work with tatoos.
Anna And the Ring is on wedding band hunt.
As a doctor she has to wash her hands all the time and is not a massive fan of loads of bling on her hands. She already “has to” wear this stunning engagement ring.

For all the tatoo lovers among you or as an additional idea, ON TOP OF A RING ; ) , you can find my favorites above! As well as HERE & HERE

More wedding band inspiration from my blog this way.

something old

As crazy as I am about new experimental jewelry designers,
as much I do like old/vintage jewelry.
It seems so very magical to me.
The other day I came across a random 2nd hand jewelry shop in our neighbourhood and it got me.
I started to think about the story they had to tell.
Some girls get really lucky by “inheriting” an engagement ring of the mother or grandmother of their
soon to be husband. I love Anna’s engagament ring.
And I can’t wait to attend her wedding in November this year.
She helped me out with a couch while I was flat hunting in London and she really is wild at heart and weird on top! And I have seen this ring in real. It is stunning!

i wish i had 1000 hands

via Estelle Deve

I guess we have all been dreaming of cloning ourselves at some days,
when we are feeling overwhelmed by the 1000000000000000000things to do.
Maybe right now having more heads would even be more useful than having more hands.
Or even one clear, focussed, smart, working head could do.
My head is feeling like potato mash right now.
Even coffee is not the answer this time.

Anyhoooo. The picture above shows some rad jewelry from french born, australia based Estelle Deve.
I like way she presented her designs, with this rough collage style.

P.S: Thanks for all the great motivation, Ladies!

(Last year for my 25th birthday I got the most beautiful bouquet of real flowers that I have saved and even moved with.
I love them so much! It has been a smart decision to keep it because I didn’t get any flowers this year for my 26th birthday.)

Anyways this girl is turning jewelry into flowers. How rad is that?

highfahion jellies forever

Rad! JEAN PAUL GAULTIER X MELISSA – will be available in black, caramel, beige, lime and tangerine.

Nope. You wouldn’t convince me jellies are not cool, or sooo over,
or not suitable for a wedding!
After the great Heart Stilettos by Vivienne Westwood and the
coolest shoe in the world by Zaha Hadid, there will be a new designer style launching in June 2010 this time by Jean Paul Gaultier.
Liv loves melissa shoes: They are eco- and animal friendly and having a great design on a really good price.
Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

(Oh and they don’t pay me or offer me free shoes. I think they should though)

incredibly cool “engagement” rings by Maison Martin Margiela via oki-ni
…and you better have a ring ; )
Here we are, in the brave new world, where the ladies propose to their boyfriends.
I loved East Side Brides “ How to propose to your boyfriend” post.
If you haven’t read it already do it NOW here!
And then please come back here, if you got inspired because
Liv wants to suggest an incredible cool engagement ring for your boy.

Using brass and silver, the rings shown above are brushed for a worn appearance.
(alright I am biased, because I am a HUGE Margiela fan and the very hot suits on the site aren’t helping)

flapper feeling

il_430xn1173555591

This wedding clutches by Michelle Hartney just appeared in my inbox.
I really like the flapper inspired vintage designs as well as her unique rings that made it into the Miami University Art Museum.
All the designs have been created out of recycled materials.
As much as like clean futuristic designs in general, I like these old vintage laces, it feels like they have a story to tell.
20′s inspired designs and fashion always gets me excited because it strongly represents the independence that women discovered during that era.

jewelry designer extraordinaire

images via Jessica De Lotz
I couldn’t believe my eyes when i saw Jessica de Lotz latest collection for the first time. She deconstructs vintage and flea market finds
and then recreates these incredible jewelry pieces.
So, a a thirties door bell came back as a beautiful black diamond ring.

Most suitable for wedding/engagement jewelry would be the
The Love Story, Paris 1946” collection,
which can be personalised with your initials or different symbols.
The hand stemped wax seal necklace really gives me this romantic vintage feeling.
Im curious what will be next! Can’t wait to get updates from this lady.
