Happy hair days…

Shortly after my last professional hairstyling course, I was looking for the best styling tools, to use on my clients as well as for myself.
I got really lucky to get the chance of reviewing a pair of the famous ghd hair straighteners.
Most people agree that they are the best on the market, but I have never used them before.
This week I got sent a really chic box with the “GLAMOUR” version of the limited edition “Iconic Eras Of Style” stylers.
Including a heat resistant black satin bag, two sectioning clips, a styling look book and the ghd Gold Classic styler.
Not only was I impressed with the packaging and design of the product, it was really professional and safe to use. The styling was super fast and easy. The styler tells you with a beep sound, when it’s ready to use and will also automatically switch off if not used for longer than 30 seconds.
I will definitely use this for my bridal hairstyling!
The styler set mentioned in this post is available for 129,00 GBP.
If you are interested in the award winning ghd products check out their website.

London in Love and the Royal Wedding Mood

Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann: Image via Maimouselle

This dress is a dream, right?
And so is the whole picture.
Speaking of beautiful brides: I did enjoy the royal wedding a lot.
Champagne for breakfast and attending the Wilton Way Street Party, here in our neighborhood in East London, it was the first real summer feeling day.
And the princess did look stunning- no doubt.

And yes! It did get me in a real wedding mood. I wonder if there were more engagements than usually lately!? I was close to purpose…(was it the champagne for breakfast?)
I mean my man is fantastic at all times and I don’t need a royal wedding to remind me of that, but the kitschy and great festival atmosphere here in London would have made a great setting.
If I had only prepared better and organized a ring ; )

However: I am feeling back to my sparkling best and full of power for upcoming projects.

A bridal make over with Josie

Last week on a sunny day I met up with the fabulous Josie from Savoir Weddings. She just featured the first part of our bridal make up session
and interview on my work with brides on her blog here.
There is more to come… ; )

The stunning pictures of us were taken by the talented Gaelle of
Oh La La weddings.
Summer is almost here and I am really looking forward to all the wonderful brides I will work with this season.

and finally….SPRING!

Freja Beha Erichsen by Rafael Stahelin for Vogue Korea September 2010

Spring arrived in London:
WINTER IS OVER
I can smell it, I can hear it and I can see it, most important I can feel it.
I am no longer freezing.
I want sunglasses and fruit smoothies and bbq’s. I want white.
I want a garden, or at least a balcony of roof terrace.
It is a super busy spring for me with a few exciting shoots coming up, full time job and moving house as well.
I haven’t had a day off in quite a while and it will stay like this a bit longer.
But I am happy. The sun is out and I am learning inspiring things every day.

What makes you happy right now?

makeing up brides

The answer is: YES!
I am doing bridal make up as well.
Since many of you asked about my other creative career part: make up artistry, lately I decided to tell you a little bit more about that.
Since I have not only done a lot of my friends and families weddings as a make up artist,
now that I am officially and fully trained I do offer an extraordinary and bespoke service to all brides.
I love to work with “real” beautiful women as much as I love working with models in fashion shoots.
It is a different way of working in many ways from look to product and lasting ability but I am just as passionate about enhancing the individual brides unique features and giving her an all day lasting, glowing look based on her skin type, style and personal preferences.

How it works:
During a first trial and consultation meeting we’ll decide on the look and I will suggest products.
We will be creating the full look, as you wish to wear on your wedding day.
l am able to give professional skin care tips, so you can prepare and treat your skin the right way before your big day.
On the actual wedding day, I will be pampering you and will create your all day worry free make up.
If you wish I will design a customized colour palette for you, so you that you can carry the professional make up with you as well.
No matter if you want to go for a glam vintage bride style or a very natural make up I will be up for it.

new love

I mentioned already that I am starting a new career as make up artist,
at This Is Jane Wayne, I am blogging for a cool young German online magazine about my way to start something new and about beauty, have a look if you are interested.
As soon as I have decided to commit and to go through the door that just opened things keep falling in place.
A friend told me about a make up artistry competition that just came up at the right time, I practiced and worked hard on my entry and: I won.
The prize is, and that’s why it’s so exciting: A full time professional make up artist course at the well known Jemma Kidd Academy plus a full kit of make up with everything I will need incl. professional brushes.
IT IS INCREDIBLE! This new career just started with a BANG!
And I am more than excited to start.
I feel very very thankful and all warm and fuzzy inside.
You can see more pictures of my work here.
Thanks to the people who supported me in my decision!

thoughts about valentines day

“I love you but you didn’t bring me flowers.” Your love is hanging on flowers! You are seasonal, conditional, demanding and bargaining. Love is not a bargain. Love is not a business. It cannot be bought and sold. It has no condition. When you put a condition on love, it evaporates.
© The Teachings of Yogi Bhajan, July 16, 1982

Yes I am a day late.
But that doesn’t really matter, because my thoughts about Valentines Day totally agree with this wonderful quote of Yogi Bhajan.
I heard some ladies complaining during the day of the 15th of February, that their beloved man hasn’t send a message yet and saw some other girls stressing about gifts and buying tasteless cards.
Not enough of this silliness: They had to ask me what we will be doing on Valentines Day.
Uhm!? We just came back from a 3 week uber-romantic holiday to Australia, we went for a delicious SPONTANEOUS dinner out on friday night and yes:
We don’t do Valentines Day. Not in general. But only when we want to do it.
And that is far more often than once a year.

back to reality

Liv in Melbourne photo by Dave
After a wonderful holiday the usual London stress has fully kicked in,
and hardly left me any time for Blushless projects.
It’s still pretty rough winter weather over here and I am hardly spending anytime outdoors.
I hope that Dave and me soon get to update our private blog with all the wonderful holiday pictures.
But for now we don’t even meet each other at home.
We are both fully engaged in work and work projects.
Lots of exciting engagement and pregnancy news among my friends kicked in and I feel slightly out of touch.
My new day job is taking up all my time, which is ok, because I really have to work loads and for my new make-up artist career there is lots of training and projects coming up as well.
It seems like I have to structure my time a bit differently and becoming clear of my focus.
It’s a new year and I really have to work on a career that allows me to survive on it.
That’s my big goal for 2011.

The Wedding Journal Show, Dublin

Blushless dresses available here

My dresses have been on a trip as well…
While I have been in Australia, my dresses have been on the catwalk in Ireland.
Ireland’s Wedding Magazine “The Wedding Journal” is hosting weddings shows in different locations.
They have been so kind and just sent me a few photos of the presentation.
Babysteps for my label. Tiny steps.
I always knew that fashion design is not the easiest business, but without a partner it’s almost impossible.
Something needs to happen, I am looking for advice.
Life surprises me all the time with good things as well as not so good ones.

I’ve found a cake for you, in Sydney

Hey! I am back, safe and sound.
I got myself a tan and had the best holiday of my life.
I loved Australia, every part that I have visited.
Mostly the weather and all the fresh fruit.
I really like it warm. Now I know more than ever within a few years time,
I want to live in the sun.

me – in australia…

Ah well, almost.
I am indeed hanging out in the sun wearing bright clothes.
The model in the picture is Andrej Pejic, Marc Jacobs new Australian muse.
All the Marc Jacobs campaigns photograhed by Juergen Teller are so inspiring…
I will be back at the 22nd of January 2011, with loads of new inspiration a deep tan and tons of energy.

more orange lips, new year, new career

photos of Alice + Olivia Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear via thefashionspot.com

I am still trying to ignore the winter and snow outside.
That’s why I am digging orange lips right now they remind me to focus on the upcoming holiday.
If you like the orange “let’s-escape-winter-look” as well, you can find a make-up tutorial for this look here.
Through my new day job beside Blushless I decided to listen to my passion and the direction that life is pushing me through.
That means I am about to start a new career as make up artist.
It’s not a completely new field for me but I will built a brand new portfolio and keep learning.

it is definitely winter

These are lifting me up:
+ First of all congratulations to winter bride Anna And The Ring, who just tied the knot, at the weekend.
+ I love the mug with the reindeer by Hudson’s Bay x Geoff McFetridge, it reminds me that I will escape the winter soon towards hot Australia.

+ Orangey-red lipstick and glowing cheeks: A warm look that cheers me up and could do as bridal make up!? via Vena Cava
+ The words KOALA ROOFTOP & ROCK POOL that I discovered while planning the holiday.
Yes, we are going on holiday! Yes I am going to meet the parents.
The weather in London lately feels life threatening.
For me. I am just not built for it.
I know that some people don’t mind winter and others even enjoy it.
I am trying.

the song in my head…

I don’t know why but this song is playing in my head for a while.
Maybe it’s the cozy winter atmosphere that is coming up.
And because this is a beautiful classic love song I felt like sharing it.
And I never give up and I never give in and I am just changing my mind…

I left my heart in NYC, where is yours?

I did leave my heart in NYC
(which doesn’t mean I dislike London or my fab new life here)
Now you can wear your favorite places and memories on your fingers.
The Paris based designer Philippe Tournaire designed an architecture collection of rings, where you can find famous buildings and places from various cities/countries around the globe.

I found this though my new blog project
This is Jane Wayne“, which is mainly written in German, but my blog as well as one of the other girls are writing in English.
