Jane Iredale Skin Is In Review Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert
bridal-hair-piece-3 2
Makeup By Liv Lundelius using Jane Iredale, for Bride La Boheme, Photography by Lana Ivanova

Jane Iredeale got it right! The new collection is all about the No Makeup Look, which I LOVE.
There is a new PureGloss colour called “White Tea” which is a sheer nude browny/beige colour, I love it, especially on medium to darker skin tones or summer bronzed skin.
“Flawless” colour blush, which has a very lovely neutral shade, just enough colour to give your cheeks that healthy flush without looking like you are wearing blush.
It’s also a matte colour, so it’s undetactable, no shimmer, no sheen. Quite a nice change after all the gloss and shimmer we have seen for years now.
(nothing wrong with it if you like shimmer and dewyness, I love it too and you can always add highlight!)
The Eyebrow Kit has had a revamp and is now called GreatShape and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, it’s my favourite brow product which I use on myself every day and it’s the staple product in my pro makeup kit as well.
The Limited Edition Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit, is a real winner, with 5 (!) neutral and very wearable shades all completely matte. Jane Iredales matte shdows are never chalky though, they are richly pigmented and glide on very beautifully. It comes as a mirrored compact, which is very nice and flat, so perfect for carrying in your makeup bag.

It’s your no nonsense, quality basics kinda collection. Think Capsule Wardrobe for Makeup.
Good quality basics that you can actually wear day to day and that go with everything.
Well done Jane Iredale!

For the look above I have used:
Smooth Affair Primer, Dreamtint Tinted Moisturizer with Pure Pressed Powder, Great Shape Eyebrow Kit, Longest Lash Mascara, Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit, Brown Jelly Jar Eyeliner, Yummy Play On Lip Crayon, Moonglow highlighter (the lightest shade)

Sappho Cosmetics Organic Liquid Foundation Find

Sappho Liquid Foundation Review Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert Organic Makeup Artist Sydney

I first came across Sappho via Instagram and was impressed with their all natural ingredient list, once I looked them up online.
Months later I have finally gotten my hands on some of their beautiful foundation, brushes and colours.
Sappho is an organic high end makeup brand from Canada. It’s been developed by the professional makeup artist JoAnn Fowler.
These range has definitely professional use quality. All Sappho cosmetics are paraben, gluten, talc, mineral oil and dimethicone free.
Which is great news for those of you, who prefer to use silicone free products.
To find a great natural foundation is always the trickiest, so let me focus on this and tell you more about the Liquid Organic Foundation:

The Cute Packaging
The Liquid foundation comes in 8 shades covering most skin tones. The bottle is a 30ml pump bottle. It looks very luxurious almost like glass, yet it’s a lightweight plastic. This is a real plus for professional artists.
(You have no idea how heavy my makeup kit is, so I prefer lightweight packaging if possible!) On the note of packaging: All the Sappho packaging is quite quirky and different, somewhat alternative and artistic looking.
All boxes are kraft paper coloured cartons with a painting illustration on it.
It’s one of these products that is actually good for your skin.

Beauty comes from the inside
But looks aside, what is actually IN this foundation:
This is a mineral foundation (no talc!!!) in an organic aloe vera juice and organic jojoba oil base. If you have read my post on oils, you know that jojoba oil is non comedogenic and very good for all skin types including oily and acne prone skins. It also contains frankincense which is known for it’s ability to boost collagen production. This makes this a great anti-aging foundation.
This foundation is packed with natural antioxidants and contains essential oils including organic calendula, neem oil, rockrose oil, meadowfoam oil, carrot oil, rosemary extract, lavender, roman chamomile and cedarwood.

The feel & finish
This foundation feels exceptionally light! No film, no greasiness on the skin. Yet it has lovely light reflecting properties and gives the skin a glow, in a beautiful, non shiny way.
It blends very easily, especially considering that no silicones are used to improve the texture. I prefer buffing it into the skin with the Sappho Blush brush. A super soft and very beautiful vegan brush.
It’s important to shake it well before application!
The coverage is medium. If you have severe acne scarring or pigmentation you will need a concealer in addition to this foundation, smaller imperfections are covered really well.
Of course the purpose of any foundation should never be to cover up a persons skin, it should rather enhance it! This is where Sappho Liquid Foundations scores all the brownie points.
If you prefer a higher all over coverage this foundation can be applied in a second layer without problems.
It smells of natural essential oils, and while they evaporate quickly the smell is fairly prominent when you apply it.
I personally really like the smell, it’s fresh, herbal and natural. I am using shade “Kate” which a nice tan/olive shade, great for me in Summer.

I was really impressed with the liquid foundation. It leaves your skin looking beautiful and like skin.

The “Undo” concealer is also tooo good to not mention it here! It works best blended together with your foundation and it immediately colour corrects and brightens dark circles.
A tiny bit goes a very long way with this.

Natural Beauty Hangout & Talk

Feature-Liv-1024x768

I lately had the chance to speak to the lovely Juliet from Lace N Ruffles, who interviewed me for her hangout series.
Sharing the same values and love for natural products this interview was so much fun.
It’s so great to connect with others in the blogsphere and the article is filled with kindness.
It really made my day when I read it and all the lovely words she had to say about me and my work.
As you might have noticed, I have been flat out with work, traveling and non stop working and while I have accumulated
many great ideas and products that I want to share, there has been a little radio silence on this blog.
You can always follow my adventures on Instagram if you like.

In case you missed it, see the whole post here at Lace N Ruffles and read on for a little preview.

My current skin care routine:
I am always testing and trying new discoveries to keep up to date.

With my own wedding around the corner I really need to stop and get into a set routine.

However here is what I currently actually use:

♣ Morning:

Face skincare: I wash my face in the shower with La Mav Sweet Orange Foaming Cleanser, then tone with La Mav Purifying Toner (editor’s note: it’s won a place in our Top 30 Natural Skin Care Products under $30 list!). I use Tata Harper Eye Cream morning and night. Lately I have been using the Organic Spa range, which was recommended to me by a facialist. I love the results and that the products are toxin free, the smell I find personally not too great, but my skin really likes it. I use the day moisture as moisturizer and wrinkle defence serum.

♣ Night:

I remove my makeup with pure organic pumpkin seed oil and a microfibre cloth. If I feel like a deep cleanse I use the La Mav Sweet Orange Foaming Cleanser afterwards. I follow with Organic Spa Day Moisture and include an exfoliating treatment into my routine from time to time. The Organicsceuticals Night Renewal Treatment works wonders.
I have yet to establish my favourite routine for the upcoming months.

♣ Body skincare:

Dry skin brushing, Shower and Hydrotherapy with cold water is how I start my day. I use coconut oil on the wet skin, which helps it to absorb and lock in the moisture, it doesn’t feel greasy this way. I use pure almond oil on my fingernails and cuticles and coconut oil on my hair.

I hope you enjoy this little insight in my current routine and the full interview.

Green Beauty Brand Profile: Jane Iredale

Posted on: Wednesday, September 23, 2015

If you follow my Instagram you may noticed that I frequently use Jane Iredale products on set in my professional makeup kit.
I have written about some products in the range and reviewed some here and there, but I thought I give you a bit more background info about this brand.
I am quite picky when it comes to the selection of my makeup kit. The products really need to perform, last and also be suitable for a variety of skin types while keeping the allergy risk to a minimum.
Therefore I select pure products that soothe and calm the skin and are less likely to cause irritation.

Ethical
Jane Iredale products do exactly that! They are also certified cruelty free, which is VERY important to me personally.
Free of parabens, synthetic fragrance and other nasties they are a good choice for my green makeup kit. These products are mineral based and contain organic and natural extracts.
Coverage, application and texture are incredible. The Vitamins and antioxidants in the formulas are pharmaceutical grade and certified organic where available.

Performance
The best thing about Jane Iredale makeup from a pro perspective is the longevity: Even in very humid conditions and on long days this makeup lasts and lasts and lasts…. All the pressed products are also unable to hold bacteria as they are inert. This makes sure everything stays nice and clean and no germs get into the makeup onto your skin. A real plus for a professional makeup kit and your skin.
Jane Iredale is still family owned business by the founder Jane Iredale herself. She only produces high quality products and has a high ethical standard.

The difference
I have tried mineral makeup before and to say that I did not like it would be an understatement.
I found most mineral makeup to have a bad and limited colour selection, messy application, a flat, chalky and uneven finish, looking aging on the skin, emphasizing pores and dryness…
to sum it up: A total mess that I would never use personally or professionally.
The other confusing thing about mineral makeup is that not all minerals are safe or clean at all. Minerals can be polluted with harmful heavy metals or contain drying or harmful minerals
such as Talc or Bismuth Oxychloride.
That’s why I stayed clear of mineral makeup for years. Until I discovered Jane Iredale. Finally a brand offered intensive testing of the minerals used, ensuring safety & purity and at last performance!!! This makeup looks and feels good on the skin.

Natural?
Jane Iredale chooses to use silicones in their products for performance and improved texture. The chosen ones are never contamined with potentially harmful substances and considered safe. As mentioned before this brand has very strict testing of all their products and ingredients used.
Jane Iredeale chooses to do these tests, they are not required by law to do this. That is the real difference in quality that you get with this makeup.
While most other brands in my kit are 100% organic or 100% natural, Jane Iredale is not. There are certain synthetic ingredients used, however only if they are truly considered safe and non toxic. So I am happy to confirm that all products in my kit are cruelty-free and toxin free! Most natural beauty lovers use and love Jane Iredale, while others find it not natural enough.
I think everyone has to do their own research. I have had the chance to attend some training with this brand and researched a lot to clear up any misconceptions. In my opinion it’s a fabulous brand, that is also very upfront about it’s certifications and ingredients. They certainly meet my personal and ethical standards.
It does not green wash or use any misleading terms, yet is a brand that seems to truly care about it’s products, the environment and it’s clients.

Every Brides Dream
And boy, does this makeup work for brides! So many of my clients have emailed me with raving reviews saying they didn’t need to touch up their makeup and when they were dancing wild at the reception everything was still in place. Of course there is more to long wearing makeup than products alone (e.g. pro application, skin prep etc). I think that Jane Iredale products play a BIG role in the longevity of wedding makeup.

My new ambassador role
As professional and independent artist I will always use a variety of brands in my kit and take advantage of the freedom to pick and choose the best products available.
I have chosen to be ambassador for Jane Iredale, this fabulous brand! In my pro kit I am using a huge percentage of these wonderful products!
I can proudly say that I love to support this brand. I really hope you love it too!

I will follow up with a few looks where and how I have used these fab products on my latest work and editorials.

Gressa – a revolution in skincare, makeup & love

Gressa Minimalist Foundation Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert
You might have heard about Gressa already, I have mentioned it on Instagram before and also recently
included it in my list of favourite brands over here at Consume With Care.

Gressa is something else. Now I have heard of serum foundations and makeup that is good for the skin many times, yet Gressa actually lives up to this promise.
The formulas are squeaky clean and free of synthetic chemicals, yet so glamourous and luxurious.
It’s a brand that thinks outside the box. Certified organic using purest quality ingredients the formulas and textures are different to other brands, Gressa truly reinvents makeup.
Or should I say skincare? Most products are both. A real treatment for the skin delivering colour. And the actual skincare is so potent that again, you don’t even need much makeup anymore.
Founder and natural beauty Svetlana herself is the best proof that this line delivers healthy glowing skin.
She has a admirable minimalist approach to skincare, really showing that less is more, to keep your skin healthy.

I discovered the brand a little while ago and have been experimenting with it. It’s so gorgeous I really wanted to take time before reviewing it, although I was impressed right from the start.
Finally I have received the correct shade of Minimalist foundation for myself and have been wearing it everyday. And what can I say?
This foundation works different to all others I have used, everyday it seems I need to use less and less of it, as my skin heals and becomes more and more even and healthy. It’s a little bit amazing. I have been using the products on photo shoots and they work a treat in front of the camera, yet I feel they are perfect for everyday wear and your personal beauty regime at home.
Let me tell you in more detail about the products, before I get too carried away:

Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation:
The Minimalist foundation comes in a dark glass bottle with dropper! Say what? Yes that’s right.
The texture is truly that of an liquid skin serum. It says on the box that it is like a multivitamin for your skin. Checking out the ingredient list, this is absolutely true:
It’s a cocktail of organic botanical oils and extracts all chosen for their skin care benefits, no fillers here!
Minimalist foundation also contains a unique blend of herbal extracts helping the skin to heal.

Application:
Only 4 drops are enough to give a light even coverage all over the face.
This no fuss treatment can be applied with fingers, or buffed with a foundation brush. It’s important to shake the bottle beforehand!
When I started using it my skin had a few blemishes and scarring, so I used a little more products, applying with hands and then
blending it with a fluffy foundation brush to make it even.

Finish:
The finish is glowing but not oily/dewy, the liquid serum sets to a powder, yet the finish is not powdery or matte.
It’s just perfect. It looks like healthy skin! Reflecting the light and looking radiant without being shimmery yet giving the skin a velvety appearance.
Does this even make sense? The coverage is medium, it can be applied very lightly for a more sheer result and layers well for more coverage also.

Feel:
The foundation glides on very smoothly and has an extremely lightweight feel on the skin. It almost feels like the skin is bare after application.

Skintype:
This foundation great is for all skin types. If your skin is extremely dry or flaky, it might show off dry areas. (but hey, no foundation can really deal with very dry skin)
At the same time is remains radiant and my t-zone will show oil after a few hours. My skin is combination: Can be dry around cheeks and nose, oily in the t-zone.
It’s so lightweight that I think even oily skin would love it, and it is so smooth that I can also see it work on mature skin very well.

Colourmatch:
Gressa offers an online colour match based on a photo. The foundation currently comes in 11 shades, so most skin tones will find a perfect match.

Minimalist Contouring Serum Bronzer:
The bronzer comes in the same packaging and texture as the Minimalist Foundation. It’s only one shade, which a very rich, dark and olive colour.
This makes it perfect for contouring, as the colour is not orange or shimmery at all. Like the other liquid products in the Gressa range, this is very concentrated.
Start with a drop and will it go a long way.

Ilumminator:
The Minimalist Illuminating Serum can be mixed with your foundation or used as highlighter over the top.
It is very concentrated, so you only need a small amount of 1-2 drops. The colour is pinkish pearlized, making it perfect for fair to medium complexions.

Lip Boost:
Contained in a pretty little glass jar the Lip Boost is a highly pigmented tinted balm, leaving the lips with a beautiful stain.
I have tried Aux Rouge and Lavish and I might have to get the other shades too. Aux rouge seems like the perfect red for everyone.
You can wear these sheer or build the pigment up to a more opaque finish.

Purifying Mist:
The Purifying Mist is a toner that balances & soothes both your skin and mind. A pure rose mist, which was on stand by on my desk for as long as it lasted.
Love the refreshing smell of pure rose. And this is all it is: Pure certified organic rose water.
Gressa also has the best selling Neroli toner, I will have to try this one as well….

Purifying Oil:
Purifying Oil is a very lightweight oil suitable for all skin types. An excellent blend of organic natural oils featuring:
Immortelle, Rose Hip and Jojoba Oils among others.

There are many more products by Gressa which I haven’t tried yet check out the website to see the full product range.

The green beauty journey – Become A Green Queen

green beauty journey
Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert Green Makeup Artist Sydney
liv lundelius green makeup artist sydney eco makeup artist sydney

Do you want to live a greener life? Not sure how and where to start?
Do you feel overwhelmed and confused about certifications and green washing?
Maybe it’s just me, but that’s how I felt many times.
You can do it, and baby steps are the answer! Be kind and patient with yourself, while doing your own research and learning more.
I have listed some tips I found useful when I made the transition to green beauty, this will make it a breeze to change, trust me!

I feel living a green lifestyle is a journey. There are always ways to improve, learn more and change for the better. It’s important not to judge people for their choices and to just try and your best with the knowledge you have. I think it can be daunting at first and many feel it’s either all or nothing when it comes to sustainable lifestyles, personally I feel the opposite is true. Every little step makes a difference and if you can’t commit to changing everything up all at once and quitting everything cold turkey that’s absolutely fine. I have been vegetarian all my life and have been experimenting with a vegan diet on and off. I am now what is called Parisian Vegan. Sounds fancy, huh? It basically means that avoid animal products at home, yet when I am going out to a restaurant or with friends I do go for vegetarian options, which may contain dairy. It makes my life less stressful this way here in Sydney. When I was living in NYC I found it a lot easier to eat out and find delicious vegan options. In Sydney it can even be a challenge just being vegetarian, depending on where you go. So yes, I am not perfect. But finally my professional makeup kit and personal beauty routine is: clean, luxurious, cruelty-free and organic!

Today I wanted to share with you how to detox your beauty bag and find new holy grail products that are better for you and the environment.

Step By Step
Don’t feel like you have to throw away everything you own, just because you finally learned how to decode the ingredient list, of your favourite beauty products.
Replace products as you use them up. Replace products that you use daily and on wide areas of your face/body (bodylotion/moisturizer/foundation) first, while small products that you only use on special
occasion (bright lip colour, eyeliner etc.) can wait a little longer. This way you won’t break the bank either.

Samples are your best friend
In all my years as professional makeup artist I have learned one thing for sure:
Everyone’s skin is different. What works wonders for one, does not suit another.
You will always have to try products for yourself. Especially when it comes to changing your skincare and foundation, it’s a good idea to get samples before you buy.
Most companies are happy to provide samples either free or for a small fee.
You can save yourself a lot of $$$ and hassle by sampling.

Research Research Research
It can still be helpful to read reviews online (but keep in mind everyone is different, so even raving reviews don’t mean that you will love the product!)
You can get a general idea of the strengths and weaknesses of a product and also read through the ingredients.
Try to only research one product group at a time, to not get overwhelmed.
It can also help to shop at stores that have already done a lot of the leg work for you. If you buy your cosmetics in a health food store instead of a supermarket,
chances are you find toxin free beauty more easily. There also many great online stores that have selected products that are safe and truly natural.
I have listed a few Australian based ones in my sidebar, if you are interested. Many cities have exclusive green beauty stores as well.

Don’t give up
Just because you have tried a natural product and it has not worked for you, or you even got an allergic reaction or had any other bad experience:
DO NOT GIVE UP ON IT ALL TOGETHER. I am under no illusion that there are many natural beauty products out there, that are simply not great.
This is the same for conventional products. It sometimes takes time to find the perfect product that you love to the moon and back.
I had to try several natural deodorants and had many bad experience before I found “the one”. The same goes for foundation.
There are many incredible products out there and it’s worth looking for them!

Beware of Greenwashing
Last but not least:
There is also a lot of “greenwashing” going on. This means that many companies try to market their products to be natural or organic and use misleading terms to make you think, their products are natural when really they are not at all. There is a great list of companies using this practice over here at the Green Beauty Team Blog.

Share & Treat Your Feet
Besides all your effort you ended up with a new beautiful product that just isn’t right for you?
If you did buy a product that you did not like, do not throw it away!
Unless you have an allergic reaction you can still use most products for a different purpose.
I regularly use up face products on my body. If a face cream or oil is too rich for me, I use it on my hands/feet or hair.
A real treat! A shampoo or body wash that you don’t like might work well as hand wash or to clean your makeup brushes?
Have a think: Is there anyone else that would like it? My man keeps using up products that don’t work for me, as his skin is not as sensitive as mine. You might have a friend or relative that loves the product.

Zuii Organic Eye Makeup Fun

Posted on: Friday, August 7, 2015

Zuii Organic Review Organic Makeup Artist Sydney Eco Makeup Artist

I have recently had some fun with the Zuii Organic Range.

My fav’s were the Eye Brow Definer, Maxi Lash Mascara and funky Flora Eye Shadows.
The eye makeup products are lovely and also great for editorial makeup use.
This range is filled with colour and certified Organic.
I have been using the mascara with great success on my sensitive eyes, and experiencend no watering or itching.
It is not water proof, yet it holds up throughout my work day really well.

If you are in the market for a silicone free primer, this one is really worth trying.
It absorbs quickly and is suitable for all skin types and creates a lovely smooth base for your foundation.
As I am very yellow tones I didn’t find a good colour match in their foundations, this primer however is a good find.

Zuii is powered by flowers and every product uses beautiful botanical oils and flower extracts.
I find the range perfect for teens and young women who love colour, they even do vegan colourful mascara.

Strobing – A tutorial And Best Products

Posted on: Monday, August 3, 2015

best products for strobing best highlighters pro makeup artist

Strobing seems to be the latest craze. The reality is far from it:
Pro Makeup Artists have been using this technique forever!
Just without anyone knowing. With the abundance of beauty youtubers, bloggers & instagrammers everyone seems to be in the know,
trying out and experimenting with professional makeup techniques.

What is Strobing?
It is a highlighting technique that can be used together with contouring or on it’s own.
It’s way more foolproof than contouring and the effect is also very suitable for day time makeup looks.
Strobing can be done quickly and is an easy technique, which is probably another reason why it’s so popular.

How does it work?
You simply need to apply highlighting products to the highest points of your cheek bones and along the nose,
as well as in the corner of the eyes and on the cupids bow of your lips.
Highlight only what you really want to emphasize, because you will draw attention and light to the highlighted areas.
Cream and liquid highlighters usually work best and are most popular. However if you want more longevity or have
naturally oily skin you can also try to use powder highlight.

Mistakes To Avoid
You need to find a highlighter that works with your skin tone.
Avoid icy pink shades if your skin is medium or tan in colour or if you want to do for a bronzed look.
The cool and frosted shades work best on fair and light complexions.
Golden highlighters looks best on yellow toned skin with a light tan.
You want the shimmer to look believable.
Use a matte bronzer and blush to make sure you don’t sparkle all over.
The effect only works if there is a difference between the highlighted and not highlighted areas.

Which products work best?

The RMS Living Luminizer is a professional makeup artist favourite.
This one is not too sparkly and leaves the skin slightly glossy, like all rms products, it comes as cream in a glass jar
It has a very soft champagne tone it is subtle and sheer and adapts to most skin tones.

A great one that comes with a little bit of colour and is suited for medium to tan yellow tones
is Jane Iredale In Touch Highlighter
It has a warm peach colour that works best as blush highlight combo for the cheeks or warmer skin tones.

A gorgeous golden and strong highlight is the Au Naturale Organic Creme Highlighter which comes in a stick.

A powerful powder highlight is Adore Loose Illuminiser that comes as a loose powder.
This one looks especially great on fair skins.

Gressa Skin has a wonderful liquid highlighter, the Minimalist Illuminating Face Serum which works great on all skin types, including oily skin or skin prone to breakouts, as it contains unique botanical oils and are balancing to the skin.

Strobing Makeup Tecnique Tutorial Dewy Skin Liv Lundelius Organic Celebrity Makeup Artist

Step By Step Guide:
Find a well lit mirror. Duh! ;)
Prep:
1.Exfoliate your skin, any bumps will stand out even more on highlighted skin, so make sure you prep your skin well.
2.Hydration is a must for any makeup look, especially for dewy and radiant looks.
3.You can also use a hydrating primer if you like. This will help to smooth open pores and make your skin look more flawless.
I like Smooth Affair Primer by Jane Iredale.
Conceal:
Apply your base, be it just a light tinted moisturizer or a full cover foundation according to your needs.
(Caution: If you use powder foundation a powder highlight might sit better on top than a liquid product.)
Use concealer to hide any blemishes or redness.(you can also apply your blush and contour now if you wish)
While in dewy editorial looks a radiant dewy base can be combined with strong highlighting, I recommend keeping the balance
for everyday wear, wearing a more natural looking not too dewy base and a subtle highlight, to avoid looking too shiny, oily or sparkly like a discoball.
For more mature skin you can achieve strobing with satin finish products that provide a sheen, rather then sparkles.
Highlight:
Apply your highlighter of choice: On top of the cheekbones using fingers or blending brush, along the bridge of the nose and on the cupids bow of your lip.
A little highlight in the inner corners of the eye also looks lovely, and will open the eyes, making them appear to me wider set.
Avoid highlighting areas with blemishes or areas that you don’t want to draw too much attention to.

Ready For Spring: Jane Iredale ‘s Latest

Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Review Liv Lundelius Organic Makeup Artist Sydney
Jane Iredale Review Organic Makeup Artist Sydney Liv Lundelius

The temperatures in Sydney have been rising and with so many sunny days over 20 degrees lately,
I am beyond excited about Spring. The nights and mornings are still very crisp and I am sitting next to my heater,
sipping on herbal tea as I type this.

There are more good news: Jane Iredale is launching some beautiful new products in August and I was lucky enough to have a little play and preview!

PoreAway Technology in Smooth Affair
With the warmer weather around the corner, our skins will get often more oily and the humid weather will melt makeup off our skins much faster.
You know I am a bit of a fan of the Smooth Affair Primer already, which is excellent for dehydrated, dry and mature skins.
Now it has a little Sister: Smooth Affair For Oily Skin ! It’s just as lightweight and hydrating as the original formular,
yet it smooths out open pores and makes your makeup stay on longer even on oily skin.
They have even named and registered the Pore Away Technology. I like how the formula absorbs quickly and feels like nothing is on the skin! Many primers that claim to do the same thing leave that typical silicone primer residue behind, yet this one is undetectable. The last thing you want on an already oily skin, is another heavy layer on top.
It creates a soft focus effect due to minerals which colour adjust to your skin. The product looks milky translucent and goes on clear. The pretty golden tube is travel friendly and perfect for my kit. The finish is smooth and matte and keeps shine away.

Jane Iredale PlayOn Review Swatches Organic Makeup Artist Sydney
PlayOn Lip Crayons!
I am a bit of a fan of these already and have recently used them behind the scenes on some photo shoots, with amazing results.
They glide on so easily, are very moisturizing, yet the finish is not too glossy, rather satin.
And the colours? O M G . Just perfection. Really on trend and including the prettiest neutrals that look somewhat hip and fun
and never boring or old fashioned. I have also been blending different lip colours together to customize them.
I don’t even have a favourite as all seven shades are all so pretty. That’s why I gave you some swatches on paper…
Yet on the lips they are way more vibrant and lucious. I liked them so much that I actually got worried they might be a limited edtion…
I immediately asked the Jane Iredale team if the PlayOn Lip Crayons are here to stay.
Thankfully they did confirm quickly that these amazing crayons will become part of their permanent range!
Phew. I am relieved. And I can play on :) These beauties will launch real soon here, keep your eyes peeled!
For absolute makeup minimalists: You would like the Lip Drinks in Buff (nude) and Crush (berry) they are lovely sheer tinted lip balms.

Pure Lash – Lashes Lashes Lashes
Lashes (along with brows) are possibly the biggest ongoing beauty trend of the last few years, with women using growth serums, permanent eyelash extensions and falsies have become a staple for evening makeup.
Personally I love my mascara and wear it daily. I like long, full lashes, yet I like them to look natural and I have used organic or natural mascaras for some time.
It’s important to keep in mind how important your eye sight is and sensitive eyes are not to be messed with in my opinion.
Jane Iredale has released another great mascara, free of nasty preservatives or petroleum based ingredients.
Pure Lash Lengthening Mascara, actually conditions and protects your lashes with Panthenol and Wheat Protein.
I like the effect and texture it gives, not too gluggy, it manages to separate the lashes very well.
As will all mascaras I always find the application is most important.

Pure Pressed Eye Shadows
These are not new but rather a staple within the eye makeup range.
I like them in my pro kit because they are so gentle and safe for sensitive eyes.
They can also be used wet or dry and are super versatile. Due to the pure pigment
they can be used on brows, cheeks or lips, depending on the shade.
These are the shades being promoted for the new season:
There is “Forest” which is the most wearable, richest shade of a deep matte green. I have recently used it to create a dramatic smokey eye on dark hazel eyes.
“Iris” is a rich matte purple, great for stronger looks or to be used as eyeliner to make green eyes pop.
“Steamy” is a warm peachy soft red, pretty on blue eyes and also on cheeks. “Mermaid” is a soft shimmery pearly green, good as a highlighter with very little colour pay off. They all come as individual compacts which is perfect for a personal beauty bag,
however it is a little more tricky to use in my pro kit. As most artists would agree: We love palettes, as they are easier and quicker to set up.
I hope Jane Iredale will eventually design a system to create custom palettes for these great quality shadows.

All these products will launch on the 10th of August 2015

All Jane Iredale products are certified cruelty free, free of Paraben and Phenoxyethanol preservatives and all minerals are purest quality and tested for
purity and never contaminated with heavy metals, all products are suitable for sensitive skin and have been tested to be Hypo Allergenic.

Vapour Organic: Luxury Makeup

Posted on: Monday, July 20, 2015

vapour beauty organic makeup review liv lundelius green makeup artist natural beauty expert

You might have noticed a few raving reviews on here lately!
As I like to feature brands that I personally like to use, I usually feature only my very fav’s up here on the blog.
Just in case you were wondering… it’s not that I am not critical enough!
It’s rather that every product that makes it on here, has already been carefully selected :)
I like to keep things positive and all the products or brands featured are the ones that I really like and that stand out to me.
As Organic Makeup Artist I am so passionate about companies that get it all right.

I have recently already talked a little about Vapour over here and named a few faves.
This brand has previously already received tremendous love from Vogue beauty editors, so I am certainly not the first to discover this
outstanding organic luxury makeup brand.
Well deserved. The textures and finishes are simply beautiful and up to the highest luxury makeup standards and yet they manage to stay clear from harmful toxins.
If you didn’t believe that organic makeup works until now (which is of course sooooo wrong!!!) this brand will instantly change your mind:
Trust me! Besides that they just got the whole sustainable thing right, the products are produced with windpower and of course they are certified crueltyfree. These guys just got it all.
Okay, before I keep raving I better give you some more details about the products:

And now a little more detail about the products:
Atmosphere Luminous Foundation
If you like dewy skin you will love Atmosphere Luminous Foundation.
It comes in a stick, which is a little different, especially if you are used to liquid foundations.
It super handy though, doesn’t take up much space in your cosmetic bag and it travels so well, without the danger of spilling and leaking.
The packaging is beautiful and the twist mechanism is properly worked out and easy to use.
I warm the end of the stick on the back of my hand, before apply a few streaks across my face. Paying the most attention to areas with redness.
Next I use my fingers to blend the product. It moves very smoothly on the skin.
The scent is fresh and barely noticeable. The finish is what it promises: Luminous!
You won’t need much product: If used correctly, your skin will glow, but not shine; if there is shine, you have over-applied.
Try to use concealer where you are seeking extra coverage, rather than overusing the foundation of problem areas.
Of course if you are after a matte finish, have oily skin or want and all day lasting finish: This is not the foundation for you!
About the colour and shades: They got the shades spot on with a variety of natural and yellow toned foundations from very fair skin to very dark skin,
with 12 shades to choose from Vapour covers a way larger range than most other organic ranges, which is fabulous.
On normal to dry skin, this wears beautifully and it’s very silky. My skin still feels moisturized after the end of a long day in this Winter weather.
The current Sydney Winter feels pretty cold and endless to me and my skin has become a lot drier. My summer go-to foundations
simply don’t do the trick in this weather and with all the heating. Vapour Atmosphere Luminous Foundation keeps my skin hydrated and doesn’t show up dry areas unlike most other foundations.
It’s a dry skin saviour! I also combine it with Stratus for some extra glow and smooth the skin.

I have heard only the best about the liquid sister Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation , which is supposed to be better suited for combination skin.
I can’t wait to order myself this one as well, so far I have not yet used it professionally.

Stratus Instant Skin Perfector
Again this product comes in stick form or as liquid, depending on skin type.
The stick is best to be used with the stick foundation on drier skin, the liquid goes with the liquid foundation on combination to oilier skin types.
I used the stick and again think that’s so practical and easy to use.
It’s a colour correcting makeup primer with the same silky texture as found in the foundation.
It comes in 3 different shades to balance different skin tones, but the product itself has no colour.
I warm the stick on the back of my hand and then apply were extra glow is desired and on areas that need smoothing, due to larger pores or fine lines.
This magical stick perfects the skin and can be used on it’s own, if you are after a very natural look and if you have already even beautiful skin.
It’s very moisturizing and has light reflecting properties which help to blur any imperfections.

Mesmerize Eye Colours
Smolder & Embrace make the perfect soft smokey eye on the go, super fast blended with fingers, the Mesmerize Cream Eye Colours are very beautiful.
Best suited for people with dry eyelids or can also be used as base with your favourite mineral eye shadow powder over the top for extra longevity.
On myself they won’t last on their own due to my oily eyelids, but I still like to use a light colour to highlight the inner corners of my eyes.

Aura Multi Use Blush
The Aura Multi Use Blush is an easy to blend blush stick,
that can also be used on eyes and lips. I love it the most as blush. My eyelids can be to oily for the product to stay put, on my cheeks however it lasts and lasts and lasts…
On shoots it’s brilliant and very pretty on eyes.
The perfect bridal blush or every day work day blush! No brushes needed, it transforms into a silky texture that goes on easily with fingers.
I love the colour “Spark” which is a very healthy warm tone. Of course you can blend it with a brush as well. Hooked!

I am currently using Vapour on set a lot, so I will also update you with some professional photos of makeup looks I have created with these products.

Yesterday I received an email letting me know that one of the wonderful weddings I created the natural bridal hair & makeup for has been featured over at The Lane.
The bride Jenna was one of the most fun ones I have ever worked with and check out all her beyond talented friends creating beautiful details for her wedding.
She is also founder of the boutique natural soap business Maple Soaps, which are the most gorgeous handcrafted vegan soaps, which smell delicous and are free
of any synthetic fragrance.

I was also interviewed and asked about my tips on how to create my signature natural makeup look, as seen above.
I thought I share it here with you, along with with best products to achieve this look:

One of our enduringly favourite looks for bridal beauty is this supernatural face you created…how did you do it?
The right prep and base is key for this minimally beautiful look. Spritz you face with a hydrating mist, I currently love Gressa Purifying Mist. Then apply a high quality skin serum oil, for example Gressa Purifying Oil for radiant, well prepped skin. A cream highlighter applied to cheekbones enhances the bone structure. A sheer foundation like Vapour Atmosphere Luminous Foundation or tinted moisturizer buffed into the skin with a soft foundation brush evens out skin without masking it. For extra radiance & colour corrections try using Stratus another great product by luxury organic brand Vapour. Use a high coverage concealer like Au Naturale Creme Concealer only to cover redness or blemishes for an invisible flawless finish. Use a completely translucent powder only through the t-zone to keep excess shine at bay.

And the eyes, they’re ‘enhanced’ but not heavily made up…whats the secret to achieving that?
Start with hydrating the eye area. Tata Harper Restorative Eye Crème is a real winner. Evening out the eyelid with a hint of a tinted eye-primer or foundation. Apply a dab of clear gloss as highlight in the inner corners or alternatively a shimmery light eyeshadow like Au Naturale Creme Eye Shadow. A nude eyeliner on the inner rim creates an open eyed fresh look. Enhance your eyelashes by curling them and coating them with a natural effect Mascara like 100% Pure Black Tea Mascara. It’s important to make sure you apply the mascara right on the roots of the lashes to give that framing effect and a luscious thick lash line.

What about colour, what should brides keep in mind for a natural look but drawing on hints of colour like this?
The only colour I used on this look focusses on the lips and cheeks. This is very soft matte peach tone, which will enhance the skin tone. To create the soft focus hint of colour, I recommend using the same product for lips & cheeks. RMS lip2cheek in demure is a great sublte colour. Dabbing it on with fingers will create that subtle effortless chic. It’s best to carry the colour with you for touch-up’s of the lips on your wedding day.

And any final, expert tips?
Create a beauty ritual that you and your skin love as far out from the wedding as possible. I recommend keeping a routine that works for you and to avoid skincare changes closer to the day. Always choose quality products over quantity. I also believe that the actual beauty ritual is important: Take time to massage your skin daily or fit in the occasional professional spa facial massage, both will increase circulation and nutrition for the skin, delivering that glow from within and relax your facial muscles as well. Get used to keeping an hydrating spray on your desk and a multi tasking skin balm in your handbag to hydrate lips, cuticles and any dry areas in your face. This way your skin will be at it’s best in time for your wedding or any occasion you might have coming up.

Intense Creme Eye Shadows By Au Naturale

What could be a better start to the week than dipping my brushes into some beautiful new makeup products by Au Naturale?
They seem to be the expert when it comes to natural creme makeup products.

I had an extensive play and have been wearing their organic creme eye shadows and creme concealer quite a few times now, so it’s about time
to tell you how great they are. Intense pigments and beautiful colours make these a perfect addition to my green luxury makeup kit.
They blend very easily, you can also mix different tones together to create unique shades.
Another plus is that they multitask: the matte shades double as eyebrow colour or you can use any shade as eyeliner, used with an angle brush.

The creme concealer is a little miracle worker, hiding imperfections before you can count to three…
And super easy to apply! I love it for redness and blemishes, some people do however successfully use for the under-eye area as well.
It surely is creamy and has full coverage.
The little pots with window are great to use in my kit, as I can easily see the colour, without having to open each and every one.

Although I mainly use pressed eye shadows in my kit, the little loose pigment shadows of Au Naturale apply with ease: wet or dry and come in rich shades.
Really great for editorial makeup artists that are looking for some colour and also for sensitive eyes, these vegan eyeshadows are free of any nasty byproducts.
Simply 100% quality pigment. I played with the Glam Eye Palette, which also included two eye brushes. With their simple and sleek design, durable quality and super soft cruelty free bristles, these brushes are very nice to use and blend those creme products to a real seamless airbrushed finish.

The lip gloss in a very humble packaging really surprised me: The colour was intense and almost opague, very long wearing (for a gloss!) and without any annoying smell or taste. Formulated without bee’s wax, preservatives, parabens, fragrances, additives, bismuth oxychloride and nano-particles these suit the most sensitive flowers.
Lip gloss is such a simple product, yet I find that many brands don’t get it right. Most are too goopy, with strange flavours that remind me of kindergarten (not in a good way)
These glosses however are pro quality. A powerful gloss in simple sturdy packaging.

All Au naturale products are professional grade, made in USA by the very inspiring founder Ashley Prange.
All products are made fresh and without preservative. It’s amazing to yet discover yet another 100% natural, green and toxin-free brand that really delivers professional results.

NUDUS lipsticks review liv lundelius sydney natural beauty expert makeup artistNŪDUS lipstick Liv Lundelius Makeup Artist Sydney Natural Beauty Expert

Are your lips ready for the ultimate treat?
NŪDUS is the clever lipstick range that I have been waiting for.
Creamy, luxurious, rich pigments beautifully packaged and certified organic.
This range of high-end lipsticks was over two years in the making and contains a superior blend of 27 active naturals.
A specially designed tasteful formula incorporating super foods, antioxidants, vitamins A, B, C, D, E and K, essential fatty acids and high-end anti-aging ingredients to keep your lips soft and help protect them from environmental stress. WOW! You can tell that the beautiful founder Diana Saltoun Goltsman has done her researched and developed a wonderful range for intelligent, forward thinking women, like herself.

If you are a bit of a beauty nerd like I am, read on for even more amazing information about this unique luxury range:
All NŪDUS lipsticks are handcrafted. What this means for you is that they are carefully made in small batches in a certified organic environment in Sydney Australia.
The colours are very different from anything else on the market: NŪDUS pigments are a special mix of ancient Ayurvedic pure bioactive colour extracts from flowers, fruits, herbs and minerals. Each colour extract has a dual purpose of bioactivity and therapeutic function. These color extracts have been chosen on the basis of their properties promoting preventative healthcare. The extracts not only provide longer lasting colours, but safer active moisturising properties, based on the technology of an ancient progressively vibrant traditional medicinal system.

Ayurveda means ‘ life-wisdom’. Pronounced (aa-yer-vay-da) it is believed to be one the oldest healing systems originating from India over 5,000 years ago.
Ayurveda revels the wisdom of life ‘ the whole of life’, by unveiling secrets of nature that helps keep a person healthy and in harmony with their soul.

All the colours apply true to the colour they show as stick, and I can’t even decide which one my favourite is.
I have tried 6 shades and they are all great. (which rarely ever happens!)
I am in LOVE.
