Jewelry for generations

image found here
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you all celebrated well. I had a bad flu over the whole Christmas period so I haven’t been up for much. Now we are off to Australia for 3 weeks. I am so excited.
Pete Doherty and Rose Forde join Hannah Martin in designing a jewellery collection inspired by aspects of history and the future. I will try and prepare a few wedding posts for you. The latest I really liked:
The idea was to design durable and timeless pieces that could be handed down through the generations.
The collections consists of 15pieces including rings and cufflinks.

A truly Blushless Bride

A wonderful bride just sent me photos of her wedding in her Blushless dress.
They make a such a stunning couple and it always makes me happy to see my dresses on real people.
Unfortunately some of their guests didn’t agree with publishing photos of them in the web, that’s why I can share just a small selection of this truly fun German summer wedding. But this photo is my favorite anyway.
Thank you Sandy for sharing! And all the best for the future.

The suit called Abbey Road

Dave was in need of a new super cool suit for an upcoming business trip and I have been totally thrilled to join him on the suit shopping tour.
Really what I needed to lift me up and relax for a few hours from job hunting.
Though I usually try to find smaller more independent brands, it’s not too easy when it comes to suits, plus: our time was limited. We only had one afternoon to find the wonder suit.
We couldn’t have found a better more suitable piece. Fit, style, color everything was just right.
So you grooms-to-be out there, check out Paul Smith for rad suit designs.
And their staff in their flagship store was super helpful and great as well.

shoes. for grooms.

shoes by Florsheim by Duckie Brown
How awesome are those men shoes?
They come in so many different cool color variations that you could match them
to almost any suit.
So if you are in the lucky situation to be able to go groom style shopping in NYC,you might be happy to hear that there will be
a Florsheim Pop-Up Store at 109 Mercer Street
for the upcoming 6 months.

Miles Davis in Greenwich Village…

What a rad grooms outfit this would be.
Miles Davis in Greenwich Village: That was the Inspiration behind the stunning menswear collection of Silvain Sylvian.

A Japanese label that currently shows two lines BLACK SURF which is the more casual day wear line
and SILVAIN SYLVIAN which is full of stunning suits!

Any thoughts?

lanvin is kicking ass

lavin2010campaign

When I saw the photo shown above for the first time in a magazine,
I couldn’t help but stare on the page for about 10 minutes.
There was something about it. Something real, something intense and more
than just well photographed hot man in fantastic clothes.
I was wondering about the wedding ring on his finger as well…
After a little research about the campaign it became clear:

The photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, who are a married couple, shot themselves for the campaign. Seeing him through the eyes of his wife and see the love story between them — makes the whole campaign so very emotional. Van Lamsweerde left all fashion statements to her husband and appears nude.

I love projects of artist couples! And always have.

golden girls and grooms

shoes AMALIE by Sophie Gittins
Liv is a golden girl.
She just fell for this hot heels by Sophie Gittins.
This design drew from the rules applied by the Wiener Werkstätte – Graphic simplification of architectural shapes. The palette derives from the heavy use of black/gold by the movement.

Are there any golden guys/grooms to be out there?
The Gold Hexagon Printed Shoes is a Collaboration piece between Koji Horigome and creator Himbad.
These shoes of art are printed &made by hand in Shoreditch, London.

P.S: Did I mention I wanna have an all golden bathroom?

suits you!

dictators-of-fashion
More, more , more London goodness:
The London based fashion label Social Suicide
The winter 2009 collection, entitled ”Dictators of Fashion”, draws style and structural inspiration from a series of 20th Century military and political heroes and tyrants. Classy!
Day suits in pure wool flannels and evening wear in super 120’s wool cashmere, trimmed and lined in silk. Every piece, as ever, hand made by tailors.

Happy Easter! What are you up to?
Liv will be in London for room&job hunting next week!
So now I am mainly planning and preparing,
as well as having some dog and family time this weekend.

nudism: for him and for her

tricolor-tie
ultragirl-lace-nude

Liv loves this two stylish & nudist pieces.

Both via Epaulet my favorite little neighbourhood boutique back in my NYC days. (sigh!)
Their Epaulet ties and bowties are handmade in Manhattan. Each piece goes through seven individual steps before its completed. Their silks are woven and printed in Italy, and all of their cottons are produced in the United States.

The next time you say that you better mean it…

mmm-rings

incredibly cool “engagement” rings by Maison Martin Margiela via oki-ni
…and you better have a ring ; )
Here we are, in the brave new world, where the ladies propose to their boyfriends.
I loved East Side Brides “ How to propose to your boyfriend” post.
If you haven’t read it already do it NOW here!
And then please come back here, if you got inspired because
Liv wants to suggest an incredible cool engagement ring for your boy.

Using brass and silver, the rings shown above are brushed for a worn appearance.
(alright I am biased, because I am a HUGE Margiela fan and the very hot suits on the site aren’t helping)

It’s Mens Fashion Week!
Liv likes Raf Simons collection a lot: review: here.
Perfect time to find rad grooms outfit inspirations.
The image above is showing an item by Michael Bastian.
What are your thoughts? Is a denim jacket acceptable to wear for the groom?
(hello, laid-back beach wedding!?)

If not for a wedding this still is a pretty cool item with its all american, wild wild west appeal.

rebellious rings

signet

…Macha is about a quiet rebellion, not necessarily‘beautiful’, but not without nobility either, rough and warm-hearted and full of ripe character. It‘s witty, tenacious and defiant with an air of old fashioned peace…’

Oh yeah! You have to like a jewelry designer that describes her creations like that, right?
For me the pieces by Macha Jewelry look all really contemporary.
The way jewelry should look in 2010, if its not vintage.
I love that there are so many finds suitable for men.
Even outside the mens category on her website.
These stud signet rings for example or the big knot rings,
would make great unisex wedding bands.
And Liv especially likes the ones that combine silver and gold. For herself.

Uhm do you think I am writing too much about jewelry?

They come in mens and womens sizes and are designed in New York.

Carla Venticinque-Osborn & Aaron Osborn are not only designing shoes, check out their other projects and artworks.
I am always fascinated by artist- and creative couples who are working together.

Maybe that will become one topic for this blog!?
