The coolest wedding invite OR how to end the war

…Or how to see things differently. This speech inspired me a lot!
How see things in a different way, how to question things in a creative way and how to do the most amazing wedding invite EVER as well as how to end the war. This girl does it all.

The nightmare about the green dress

image via Motilo

Here is to another fashionable wedding : Full of very well dressed guests! See more here.
I had a dream last night. My mum forced me to get married out of the blue, and not enough she wanted the whole event in her backyard, and she invited her friends only. I said: ” But Mum, I haven’t got anything to wear just now.” She handed me a dress and said: “Sure you do!” – “But it’s green…”, I desperately tried to make my point. “Don’t be so fussy” she said, pushing me out in front of the guests. I was wearing flip-flops and a green dress. My future husbands family she sat down in a corner away from the other guests. None of my friends were attending,
The whole thing couldn’t have been further from what I wish my wedding to be like one day. Stupid nightmares!!!
We have a saying in Germany that if you want your dreams to become true, you shouldn’t share them with anyone.
I don’t want this to become true at all, so I thought I better share it with the whole world, just to be safe.
Happy wedding planning everyone!

when a fashion editor is getting married…

all pictures via anothermag.com

I just found these stunning photos of a true high fashion wedding.
And yes, this is a real wedding.
The lilac haired bride is fashion editor Katie Shillingford and her gorgeous husband is Alex Dromgoole.

When a fashion editor is getting married her wedding looks like straight out of a magazine.

A truly Blushless Bride

A wonderful bride just sent me photos of her wedding in her Blushless dress.
They make a such a stunning couple and it always makes me happy to see my dresses on real people.
Unfortunately some of their guests didn’t agree with publishing photos of them in the web, that’s why I can share just a small selection of this truly fun German summer wedding. But this photo is my favorite anyway.
Thank you Sandy for sharing! And all the best for the future.

go and get your sketchbook out

picture found here.
Dave said the other day he would love to design the engagement ring for his
one-day fiancee himself. He is a designer, so that would probably end up in a pretty fantastic piece of jewelry.
I saw that a lot of jewellery designers offer a bespoke service, which is really
cool if you have this stunning idea in your head and another plus is:
A ring like that will really be one of a kind.

Some girls do not think diamonds are their best friends. We are generally those sorts of girls. We don’t dismiss the humble rocks, we just think that jewelry can be pushed further than the boundaries of a single solitaire perched on a band. We’re very smart, you see. Ah, but see how smart we are when you swing this ring slowly in our line of vision. We drool, we covet, we get wobbly in the knees. Quote from Catbird NYC

Here are some awesome designers that could help you realise your ideas:
ORIA in London works with ethical sourced gold, silver and diamonds.
BITTERSWEETS in New York do rad custom designs as well.
Thomas Bartussek in Berlin is always open for new ideas!

And now: Go and get your sketchbook out!

For great inspiration go and check out the COOLEST selection of wedding and engagement rings in the whole world at Catbird NYC,
that East Side Bride introduced me to.

flamingos, candy & bourbon

Last week we attended a rad wedding in a pub in East London.

The couple owns/manages a club in East London and decided to invite basically everyone, that has ever been a guest at the venue.
It was fantastic. The place was overly decorated with pink, flamingos, they had a candy buffett, and a really rockin live band.
Even if thats not my style at all, the atmosphere was great.
Candy and bourbon is a really great combination by the way.

Note to self: I have to have a candy buffet on my wedding!
Check out the more pics of this wedding on SAVOIR weddings.
DID I MENTION HOW MUCH I LOVE LONDON ?

punk rock engagement ring

How rad is this ring?
Its totally punk rock, is an orange garnet, flipped upside down and protected by an intricate gold dome casing.
Designed by iosselliani
Its the engagement ring of this lady.
I cant wait to meet her personally in London soon.

love letters, wooden crates & wine

For their wedding ceremony Cori & Z of hat & feathers created a wonderful version of an old tradition:

“We put a bottle of wine, two glasses, & a set of love letters (written in secret & unshared) into a wooden crate and then sealed it with nails (each nail was hammered by a family member to show their commitment to supporting our marriage & then finally by us). The crate is meant as an act of reassurance, a romantic gesture–if ever our relationship is in peril, we are to open the crate, drink the wine, & read the letters before we make any decisions about our future.”

Oh yeah, I love it!

questions, pictures, and one day: the beach !

Check out their site, there is quite cool stuff on there.

Liv often gets questions about her own one-day-wedding-of-her-dreams:
What kind of dress I would wear, what location I would choose….
most of the time followed by something like
“I am sure you must have thought a lot about it.”
To be honest: No! I haven’t. I am not that kinda gal ; )
allenroselle03
A friend once said at a party: “If I should get married I want a f*cking flamingo on my head.” – Interesting.

Alright I don’t want to disappoint you, so:
I always had the dream to live in a city by the ocean one day, so I think I would really love to get married at the beach. Perfect would be a beach (because of the amazing spirit) and city rooftop (for the incredible party) combination.

Liv is (as far as it looks like right now) not getting married in the nearer future.
If I should get engaged one day there will still be plenty of time to figure it out,
depending on the situation, budget, partner, and place I will be living.

(And maybe-baby there is still a picture in my head…)

What about you?

oh la la Berlin Wedding

Liv recently interviewed Anne-Laure and Axel about their really cool
and off beat Berlin wedding.
They are living in Berlin and Paris (what a great combination by the way!)
but what made this wedding so special and unforgettable was that
absolutely everyone had an unforgettable time.

I really love the locations they picked: The old swimming pool,
filled with balloons is such a stylish yet playful dancefloor.

The small russian cafe KVARTIRA they had their (homemade!) lunch buffet in after the ceremony, is just so laid back and totally not over the top.
I like the urban street cafe atmosphere they have created.

When I asked them about their favorite moments of the wedding
HE answered THE PLANNING (hear that everyone? Planning is not only stressful, it can be the most fun part of your wedding)
He compared the wedding planning to event and party planning he did before and liked it that much that he even would like to help other couples with their planning.
img_5275

He added, the best moments were after the ceremony when they looked at each other with the “woohooo now were married” looks.
And thats also what she said: walking out of the townhall, next to each other knowing that your now married, that was the best moment ever.
Suuronuded by all loved ones together to help celebrate this special moment with them was
a wonderful experience they are very thankful of.
They only invited their dearest friends and closest family members.
imgp6609
The invitations were designed by the couple themselves they created a contemporary poster, with an engagement photo, nice love song quotes
and of course the details for their wedding.
And also a rad idea to cut the costs.
It was important to them to plan everything their own and personal way, no matter if its traditional or not. Their one rule was: Nothing kitschy.

Asking Anne-Laure about her great bride style she said she put kind of randomly together!
Her mum found the Georges Rech jacket in a design outlet, she got the Max Azria dress through a friend at a special price and loved it immediately, her golden flats are from a little boutique in her neighbourhood.
Axels suit is by BOSS.

CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN! And thanks for sharing everything with us.

I wish I had found one of these in my letterbox.
Must have been a rad wedding if these invites are anything to judge by!
Aren’t they great? Photobooths are always fun, and this calligraphy blew me away…they are really insane.
You can find amazing Holga honeymoon pictures and other addictive inspiration on their blog.
Liv had to share.

engagement guitar!

The awesome designer and writer of the blog MADE IN ENGLAND,
just got engaged to his amazing girlfriend and blogger of MONSTER MUNCH.
But instead of giving her a diamond ring,
HE GAVE HER AN ENGAGEMENT GUITAR: Now that really literally rocks!
“Rather than get a diamond ring, which to be honest I think is probably the least interesting thing you can spend a lot of money on,
I got her a guitar instead!
Neither of us play guitar, so at first sight it seems quite a random choice.. But her maiden name is Gibson, same as the legendary guitar makers, so I thought I’d get her something to remind her of that when she becomes Mrs Cookie.
I wanted to get her a vintage Gibson (this sort of thing just gets better with age), preferably a 1977 model to match her birth year (and mine). “

Congratulations guys: You rock!
