one of these days

Photo via Une Vie De La Chute

I have to say I haven’t had one of this days in ages.
But today it fully kicked in. I started to question every little dust corn in my life.
Just everything went wrong. I kept making the most ridiculous mistakes 3 times in a row.
My train was delayed ….I had a headache-my brain felt like mash:
Small things really.
But enough to realise I NEED A LITTLE BREAK,
just this one night without work. The evening off, at least.
And I am already feeling better!
I had a delicious dinner at Busaba Eathai in Shoreditch.
I needed some people watching I had to leave the house, and my work for some time.
Thank you Dave for fabulous company and motivation.
And now I snuggle up EARLY and listen to the storm and rain outside.

What do you do if you have one of those days? What brings you back on track?

share your bed with others!

An old-fashioned wedding ritual does still take place in THAILAND today.
Don’t be alarmed if you are led to the honeymoon suite to find
an old couple sitting on your bed waiting to greet you! The idea is that an old couple are evidence of a long and successful marriage. Their knowledge and good luck is then imparted to the newlyweds in a number of different ways. They may say how ‘lucky the bed feels’ hinting that the newly married couple will have children. Bags of rice and coins may be placed on the bed along with a number of other items all acting as symbols of prosperity and fertility. Tradition states that the newlyweds share their bed with these objects for the next 3 nights.
You may be relieved to hear that the old couple don’t also stay in the bed for 3 nights!

weddings and trees part II

forestmoodboard-kopie
still inspired by the wonderful tree photograph I put together a
forest inspired (wedding-) mood board. (yeah I know this is not art! )
You know already that Liv and Lav are living in a imaginery treehouse
far up in the Positivity Tree? And we are close to finally living together in London!

But back to the topic: Treeeeees.
And forest wedding- and home inspiration.
I am sure this bed (via anthropologie) with bedding (via can’t remember) like above could give you the full treehouse feeling, even in the city.
We had forest jewelry already here and I recently saw a few great pieces for men and women here at DEANNA COCHRAN
Dresses theLELALAMBone and theLALAone would be great for a forest wedding. Find out more here.

Queensize duvet by Glasgow-based artist David Shrigley
I love the sketchiness of his work.

“In all his work, Shrigley seems to insist on giving place to the abnormal and plays to our fears of the dis-alike, the odd, the peculiar, the insane and irregular, the out-of-control.
So who is he who did this? Well, he’s a big, tall Englishman with a great sense of humour and an odd but likable view of the world. A chronicler of the everyday with an eye for the absurd, the over-looked, the unspeakable and the small rather than the routine or the spectacular.”

But now: Let’s go back to bed:
The best part of being in London every few weeks is that I am working a lot from the bed/office. It can sometimes mean enjoying cold pizza and tasty champagne in bed after work, and It definitely means getting alot more sleep when I am here. This bed is so unbelievably comfy!!!
I already wrote a few months ago, how much I love beds…..here.
Uhm: By the way, Im not JUST hanging out in bed when I am here OF COURSE, I am seeing a lot of art, music, I am working, and meeting new people, partying and improving my language skills.
Now sleep hard and dream rock’n’roll.

happy bed-day!

Its time to thank our beds for all the good times !
Maybe we should start a new international holiday?
Bed-day! Who is in?
Wrap up. Liv around Lav. The bed around us .The whole world around the bed.
Ohhhh! And how much I do love breakfast in bed
So much to write about beds!
Its gotta be one of the best places to be right?
Maybe I am saying that cause I almost never get my bed to see.
Thats the price for working in fashion.
Hmmmm….

To celebrate the first international bed-day wouldnt it be nice to style up your bed?
The picture above shows a piece of the exciting upcoming bedding collection of the stunning textile designer Alexander Girard for Urban Outfitters.
Bed linens, printed cushions, drapes, shower curtains, a few original classic Girard prints and more. Available from July 2009!
Would also be a great idea as a wedding gift.
Liv found this little sensation on the design blog Oh Joy!
And now: sleep hard and dream rock’n'roll

UPDATE!
Same sex marriage is still illegal in California…
I was crossing fingers, legs and eyes Monday night for a smart decision IN THE NAME OF LOVE by the California Supreme Court…
And I just learned from a cool readers (eastsidebride) comment that Urban Outfitters suddenly pulled their line of t-shirts in the middle of the Prop 8 campaign that support marriage equality, possibly because the company’s owner is an anti-gay right-wing tool who gives generously to GOP candidates and causes.
I didn’t know about that before. So let’s buy cleaner sheets for the bed-day!
