liv lundelius Hum review supplements

Everyone that knows me how much I love healthy food and nutrition,
I might sometimes annoy my friends with my words of wisdom and also always healthy food choices.
So why would I take supplements?

Why Supplements?
I believe that if you work in a demanding job or go through periods of stress or high workloads,
sometimes your food intake just can’t offer enough nutrients. There are so many different situations
in life, where your body can do with a little help including for us women pregnancy, conceiving and menopause.
Just to maintain a healthy regular cycle and balanced hormones it’s important to look after your nutrition.
Our skin, hair and nails also shows us pretty quickly if we are lacking something. Pay attention and listen to your body.
Even though I am overall healthy and free of any serious illness, I take little warning signs of my body very seriously.
If my digestion is not as usual, if I get breakouts and pimples, dry skin, mood swings or simply feel tired, I know it’s time
to change something.
It’s a great idea to give the body a little boost and help it out with some supplements and I have always seen great results.
Sleep, good nutrition, enough fresh water and regular exercise are all important and supplements can only work as part of a healthy lifestyle.
There is no shortcut to good health!
I recommend seeing a Nutritionist or seeking advice in your local health food store, they can often be very knowledgeable.

My Beauty Boosters:
Right now I am doing a detox with HUM Daily Cleanse & HUM Runway Ready.
It is a four week course and I will make sure to continue until I run out.
HUM actually offers an online consultation and a professional Nutritionist will contact you to recommend products.
I thought the consultation was pretty fun and the Daily Cleanse sounded like something that could do me good.
All their products are sustainably sourced, premium quality, non GMO, pure and also clinically proven to work!

Isle Ready
The Runway Ready is a fun beauty supplement for everyone, it will help with healthy nails, shiny hair and glowing skin
and is also vegetarian and vegan. Which is great as many supplements contain animal products, and are not suitable for everyone.
It comes in a pretty dispenser box with daily packs which contain 3 capsules. Super easy peasy! The whole box is a one month course.
I just throw one sachet into my handbag in the morning and then take them with my lunch.
Each sachet contains 2 “Red Carpet” Pills and 1 “Killer Nails” Pill. They contain Black Currant Seed Oil: Perfect Source of ALA & GLA
Sunflower Seed Oil: Great Source of Vitamin E and Vegan Biotin which Strengthens the nails.
I thought this could be an excellent idea to get ready for the wedding.

Skin Cleanse
Within a week of the Daily Cleanse I saw my skin being more clear and I also felt I had great energy throughout the day.
I take 2 capsules per day without food, it’s super quick and easy even if my schedule is packed.
These are meant to cleanse your skin, liver, bowel, kidneys and lungs with Organic Algae, Cleansing Minerals and a unique blend of 15 Detox Herbs.
I will complete the course and possibly do a second one closer to the wedding.

glow inner beauty powder review liv lundelius natural beauty expert

Glow
I have also been trying The Beauty Chef Inner Glow Powder, which is from a different brand.
Inner Glow has really helped my skin and digestion. It’s a delicious natural berry flavoured powder to be taken with water and it’s basically made from fermented super foods.
They help making your gut happy by providing pre- and probiotics, but it’s also naturally packed with vitamins, minerals and vegetable proteins.
Did I mention, it tastes delicious? I first thought it’s a little pricey but it seems to last a while, as you only need to take a teaspoon per day.
I am planning on keep on going with this one until the big day.

Before I started the Hum Daily Cleanse I just started taking a Magnesium Supplement for better sleep and less stress as well as a Super Green Powder, which is very powerful and was recommended
to my by a independent Nutritionist. I loved both and will probably use it again if needed.
As always do your research and ask a professional before buying supplements.
It’s important to make sure your supplements are free from cheap fillers or nasty ingredients, there are big differences in quality, many of the cheap vitamins from the supermarket won’t cut it!

Have you tried supplements? What are your experiences? Feel free to share.

Thoughts On Wedding Planning for White Magazine

wedding planning, overinspired, bridal beauty expert, green beauy writer, white magazine
For the latest issue of White Magazine I got asked to share my thoughts on wedding planning,
as an insider in the wedding world. It was really fun sitting down, pondering about it all and writing down my thoughts. You can read my final article below: And don’t forget to buy the issue
with many more amazing articles and beautiful imgages, as always completely honest and inspiring!

How did we handle the flood of over-inspiration that blogs, pinterest & co deliver?

Planning a wedding in the age of Pinterest & CO

Have you set a date yet? What is your dress going to look like? What sort of flowers were you thinking of getting? – Immediately after getting engaged well meaning friends and family bombarded us with questions, even before we had a chance to decide if we wanted a wedding or simply elope.
We just wanted to be married and live happily ever after, we hadn’t thought about a wedding. It seemed like everyone around us had pretty high expectations of what our wedding day would look like, maybe because we are both working in creative jobs and are surrounded by wonderful vendors all the time.
We dived right into the abundance of inspiration, hoping to feel the same excitement about this event than everyone around us. Looking at beautiful blogs, magazines and of course Instagram and
Pinterest, there was all this deliciousness from amazing fellow vendors, beautifully photographed.Lost in a picture perfect Pinterest wedding world filled with DIY projects, services and products we felt that most of it was meaningless and irrelevant to us personally. Were we over-inspired? Was all the goodness just too much to take and overwhelming? Ok, back to the drawing board…we took a deep breath, pen and paper and made notes about the
things that really mattered to us. We focused on why we wanted a wedding in the first place and who we really wanted to share this special day with. We made a must-have and nice-to-have list to
keep us on track and stick to our own ideas. The outcome was a clear feeling and a blurry vision of a small, intimate wedding, with our nearest and dearest including our puppy Dalston, a “on-holiday-
feel” with lot’s of fun, eating and dancing. We wanted it to be low key and high fun. We strongly felt less is more. No need for a theme or a colour scheme. What we DID need was a place that made us and our guests feel welcome, plenty of food, good music, drinks and some simple off-the-rack outfits. Easier said than done… Many of the “alternative” venues we contacted seemed to be colder than expected and replied with way too many rules, regulations and restrictions than my free spirited self could digest. Our must have list quickly ruled out pretty much any venue within NSW and it seemed like the only option left was camping- no wait, even the campsite did not allow dogs. (Besides that my lovely future mother in law would possibly be mad at me forever if I make her camp on our wedding.) While we really stuck to our guns with the venue and overall feel, we gave in at other points of planning. The “don’t-care-ready-to-wear” dress idea turned into a custom design couture gown (whoops…). As my former fashion designer self took over and I rediscovered how much fun the process of creating it from scratch would be, there was no turning back from the quality fabrics and great craftsmanship.
Turned out that overall trying to keeping it simple and real is sometimes harder than just going with a more traditional option. Letting the magic of wedding planning take over from time to time actually feels good. Now we can’t wait.

Yesterday I received an email letting me know that one of the wonderful weddings I created the natural bridal hair & makeup for has been featured over at The Lane.
The bride Jenna was one of the most fun ones I have ever worked with and check out all her beyond talented friends creating beautiful details for her wedding.
She is also founder of the boutique natural soap business Maple Soaps, which are the most gorgeous handcrafted vegan soaps, which smell delicous and are free
of any synthetic fragrance.

I was also interviewed and asked about my tips on how to create my signature natural makeup look, as seen above.
I thought I share it here with you, along with with best products to achieve this look:

One of our enduringly favourite looks for bridal beauty is this supernatural face you created…how did you do it?
The right prep and base is key for this minimally beautiful look. Spritz you face with a hydrating mist, I currently love Gressa Purifying Mist. Then apply a high quality skin serum oil, for example Gressa Purifying Oil for radiant, well prepped skin. A cream highlighter applied to cheekbones enhances the bone structure. A sheer foundation like Vapour Atmosphere Luminous Foundation or tinted moisturizer buffed into the skin with a soft foundation brush evens out skin without masking it. For extra radiance & colour corrections try using Stratus another great product by luxury organic brand Vapour. Use a high coverage concealer like Au Naturale Creme Concealer only to cover redness or blemishes for an invisible flawless finish. Use a completely translucent powder only through the t-zone to keep excess shine at bay.

And the eyes, they’re ‘enhanced’ but not heavily made up…whats the secret to achieving that?
Start with hydrating the eye area. Tata Harper Restorative Eye Crème is a real winner. Evening out the eyelid with a hint of a tinted eye-primer or foundation. Apply a dab of clear gloss as highlight in the inner corners or alternatively a shimmery light eyeshadow like Au Naturale Creme Eye Shadow. A nude eyeliner on the inner rim creates an open eyed fresh look. Enhance your eyelashes by curling them and coating them with a natural effect Mascara like 100% Pure Black Tea Mascara. It’s important to make sure you apply the mascara right on the roots of the lashes to give that framing effect and a luscious thick lash line.

What about colour, what should brides keep in mind for a natural look but drawing on hints of colour like this?
The only colour I used on this look focusses on the lips and cheeks. This is very soft matte peach tone, which will enhance the skin tone. To create the soft focus hint of colour, I recommend using the same product for lips & cheeks. RMS lip2cheek in demure is a great sublte colour. Dabbing it on with fingers will create that subtle effortless chic. It’s best to carry the colour with you for touch-up’s of the lips on your wedding day.

And any final, expert tips?
Create a beauty ritual that you and your skin love as far out from the wedding as possible. I recommend keeping a routine that works for you and to avoid skincare changes closer to the day. Always choose quality products over quantity. I also believe that the actual beauty ritual is important: Take time to massage your skin daily or fit in the occasional professional spa facial massage, both will increase circulation and nutrition for the skin, delivering that glow from within and relax your facial muscles as well. Get used to keeping an hydrating spray on your desk and a multi tasking skin balm in your handbag to hydrate lips, cuticles and any dry areas in your face. This way your skin will be at it’s best in time for your wedding or any occasion you might have coming up.

5 Tips For Healthy Shiny HAIR The Six Week Bridal Beauty Prep

Posted on: Thursday, June 18, 2015

Do you want shiny locks and healthy hair for your wedding day (or just in general?) ?
Here are my top tips on how to keep your scalp and hair naturally beautiful, enhance hair growth and prevent damage.

1. Deep Condition
Once a week apply a deep hair conditioning treatment. You can use pure Coconut Oil if you are a purist or on a budget or you can use a luxurious store bought hair treatment.
Always go for a toxin free hair product range!
If you use coconut oil do this on a day off and sit in the sun, which will activate and heat up the oil.
Protect your gorgeous skin in the sun though (with a natural zinc sunscreen) and be careful not to get burned before your wedding day.
The trick with washing out oil treatments is to apply shampoo before wetting your hair then rinsing with water and then using a 2nd shampoo. Lather and rinse well.
The use your regular conditioner.

2. Nourish from the inside
Hair is protein discharge, and adding good quality protein to your diet will help encourage growth.
Consuming enough healthy fat can aid in improving overall shine and texture. Eating more kale (vitamin C and Silica) berries (more C), onions, leeks, garlic or scallions (sulfur), mushrooms (zinc), almonds, brown rice (vitamin E), sunflower seeds (pantothenic acid – B5), and shitake mushrooms (copper) and a wide variety of antioxidant herbs like ginger, rosemary, and turmeric root, could benefit hair growth and make hair even more gorgeous!
Eat WHOLE eggs (ALWAYS ORGANIC & FREE RANGE) . They contain biotin, folate, silica, and B-5, which are all universally known for helping promote lustrous hair.

3. Keep it natural
Certain products can clog the hair shaft, and that will impede new growth. Many products contain alcohol, which will strip your hair.
Choose natural, green products instead. I am a big fan of the John Masters Organics line because he uses a lot of essential oils and plant-based ingredients.
I also love the Yarok Styling Products. If you are after a real super luxurious treat you can’t go past Rahua products.

4. Be Gentle
Many people break their hair when it is wet and most delicate by brushing to hard. Buy a high-quality professional hair dryer and use it at the medium setting, or don’t blow dry your hair at all.
Use a wide comb or detangling brush and slowly work your way up, start at the ends.
When using heating tools like a dryer, flat iron, curling iron, or hot rollers, be sure to use natural products for heat protection. Stay away from damaging heat tools if you can.

5. Protect!
Braid your hair loosely or tie with soft ties to avoid any breakage,
especially if you have dry or chemically treated hair.
If you color your hair it’s a good idea to wear a hat in the sun.
It will protect your hair colour from fading or changing colour.

liv lundelius bridal beauty expert tips makeup artist lara hotz photography
As you might know, Liv&Dave are getting married! Yes, that’s us!
It’s been a lot of fun working out the wedding details, and also just enjoying this special time.
The wedding planning is in full swing and while I am swamped with work I am set on the idea to write and share a personal bridal beauty guide for you,
giving pro advice from my experience as bridal beauty expert (which I have been lately called a lot) as well as my personal experience in how I prepare my body & mind for the big day. Wish me luck ;)

I am personally quite low maintenance, which you might not expect from a makeup artist and beauty blogger, but don’t forget that in the end of the day we all only have 24 in a day
and I am working long irregular hours, so I prefer to keep my own routine as simple as possible.
Yet I do want my skin and hair to look their best and also be in an overall good shape for our wedding, like any other bride.

I am working on a series of posts about tips & tricks, favourite products and techniques, as well as holistic beauty approaches.
Expect regular updates, blog-posts and Instagram posts on these topics!
I am happy to hear from you about any comments and questions that you might have and would love this to become a dialogue,
if you are up for it! Otherwise just read & learn, I hope you enjoy.
And quite obviously this is not just for brides to be, but all Ladies that want to up their beauty game.

To start off here are my Top Five Tips For Glowing Wedding Makeup:

1. Good skin care and skin prep are key, it’s best to start a good regime months before your wedding day: Regular exfoliation, a gentle good quality cleanser and a nourishing & balancing moisturiser are a must.

2. Less is more, only use foundation and concealer where needed, be selective and keep it fresh and natural.

3. Secret technique for extra glow: Massage your face with your hands to enhance circulation and radiance and stimulate lymph flow prior to makeup application.

4. Apply a liquid highlighter onto your cheek bones prior to your foundation.

5. Use a soft buffing brush for the perfect invisible makeup application to work a small amount of foundation into the skin.

One fun weekend this was! At the One Fine Day in Sydney.
While my inbox is overflowing and I am trying my best to get through the wonderful and overwhelming response of the last few days,
I wanted to share a few of my favourite vendors with you.
The One Fine Day girls where one of the very first people I got in touch with when I moved to Sydney and I have been part of the
magical fair right from the humble beginnings at Sun Studios. I can not thank the founders enough, I met so many wonderful people through
this event, even new friendships and of course a lot of business.
Now that we are getting married ourselves, we didn’t only exhibit but were also for the first time on the other side.
We were actually shopping around and locking in some vendors ourselves!

People often ask me which part of my work I enjoy more: wedding makeup or editorial makeup, but to be honest, I can’t quite decide.
I love both and I do both. That’s the short and sweet answer.
Of course all One Fine Day handpicked vendors are great in their own ways, but here are a few that I found are really worth mentioning and recommending to you,
if you are currently planning your own wedding as I had personally amazing experiences with them.

Catherine and David are in Love and it shows in every single image captured by Daniel Ferris.
Their magical wedding was featured over at Hello May today and I am not surprised.
The pure honesty and rawness of it had me fascinated immediately.
It really shows it’s NOT about all the little details, it’s really about the couple, LOVE, friends and family.
No fancy backdrop needed, flowers put together on the day by the groom and so many other irrelevant bits and pieces weren’t needed here.
This is the kind of wedding I love my job for this is what inspires me.
I love being a makeup artist in Australia every day. I love the places my work take me to and the wonderful people I get to meet.
There are days were I just feel incredibly lucky and grateful. Today is such a day.
And if you not already noticed how chilled and amazing this couple is, I will leave you with their wedding “theme”inspiration:
“Our inspiration was to throw the kind of party that we would want to go to – which particularly meant a natural outdoor setting (rain or shine – and we got both)” says Catherine.

The perfect Eyebrows

Posted on: Monday, July 14, 2014

IN8A1913
IN8A2090 copy

Marli Stretton has spent over ten years in some of the world’s most prestigious salons, looking after thousands of clients’ brows and eyelashes. Two years ago she returned to her hometown-Beautiful Sydney and launched HoneyTusk Eyebrow Studio.
Located in the happening Inner West suburb of Rozelle, just ten minutes from the CBD, HoneyTusk offers our clients the perfect solution to their eyebrow woes.
HoneyTusk understands that true beauty does not end with your brows, so they also provide a carefully selected menu of additional services, from eyelash extensions to selected waxing.
I had the pleasure to meet Marli in person and the chance to create her makeup and hair for her wedding day.
She is my go to brow artist in Sydney and on top of my referral list for my brides.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love that each day i can help change the way someone feels about themselves. When i hear my clients say they feel like they are a whole new person just from having their brows transformed that’s when i know that i have made a difference in how they will feel about themselves for the rest of the day, week or month.

How far in advance do you recommend for a bride to come and consult you before her wedding day?

We normally recommend 6 months before your wedding to start booking in a monthly visit to your eyebrow artist. If you are wanting to change your brow shape 6 months allows us enough time for the brows to grow out and for us to know what we are working with. For the best brows before your wedding is all about consistency, this means attending regular appointments with the same artist to achieve the same results each visit.

You recently got married yourself, what is your biggest piece of beauty advice and how did you prepare yourself for the big day?

Besides your eyebrows (of course), I think starting a regular facial routine would have to be one of the most important parts of having the best look on the big day. Having great skin can set the foundation for having great make up and having great brows. I started a intense facial routine about 3 months before my wedding and this meant that on the day i had no breakouts, no irritation and my skin felt flawless.

Why is it so important to get your eyebrows in good shape?

Brows do really frame the whole face. Having your brows done correctly frames the eye area, which is the most focused facial feature we have. When your brows are done correctly, you can enhance or hide of so many aspects of your face- you can make your nose appear smaller, make your eyes appear bigger or it can help balance out the different proportions on your face.

What’s your favourite thing to do on a day off?

When i get a day off i love taking my dog and going for a walk or run around some of Sydney best walking tracks. Whether it be down on the Bay Run in Balmain or the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk. Anything where im out exercising in the fresh air.

Your favourite spot in Sydney?

My favorite spot at the moment in Sydney would have to be down at Blackwattle Bay. There is an amazing dog friendly park and a really cute cafe where you can sit by the water, in the sun and watch the world go by.

Talking all things Bridal with Hello May

Posted on: Monday, July 7, 2014

Screen Shot 2014-07-07 at 3.12.02 pm

The wonderful magazine Hello May, just invited me to talk all things bridal & makeup over at their blog and also a little column in their current print Issue.
Thank you for having me!

“Today, here we are again, introducing you to the seriously lovely Liv Lundelius, a go-to favourite in the Sydney wedding industry when it comes to hair and make up.
Tell us a little about your background? I have lived in Berlin, New York and London before deciding to move to Australia, my background was in fashion design first, though my love has always been makeup.

How did you get into the hair and makeup game? I always wanted to do it, however after school I felt I really wanted to go down the more academic route, so I went to art school studying fashion design. I really enjoyed design, however after a little while, I felt a strong desire to come back to my first love. I have always done it, but I felt I wanted the time to gain professional skills, and time to practice and learn from others in the industry to get better and better. The decision was made in London, I told everyone that I wanted to retrain and then a friend of a friend sent me a link to a talent competition in which you could get a scholarship to one of London’s best makeup schools at the time. I knew this really was a one off chance, so I put everything into it…and won! A very good start for my new career. Since then I haven’t looked back. I love what I do.

Talk us through a typical day in the Liv Lundelius studio? Every day is fun and creative in its own way, yet no two days are the same as a freelance makeup artist. Rising up early, having a nice big coffee, walking the puppy, exercising or meditating and then my work day actually starts…

If I am not on a photo shoot or traveling to a wedding I will sort through my emails and reply to my clients and brides first thing. I will update my Instagram/Facebook with the latest work or inspiration and write a blog-post or beauty related article.

If I have time I do a little bit of research, I study the latest fashion advertising campaigns and editorials for makeup trend updates and browse through some of my favourite blogs and websites. Days in the studio are usually booked with consultations and makeup applications, where brides will come over to meet and we create their wedding makeup look. I will have magazines ready for inspiration and look through their ideas, we talk about the whole feel of her wedding, about skin and skin care and last about the actual makeup look that we want to create. After this I will clean my tools and makeup and prep for the next day.

Where do you find your inspiration? I find inspiration in life, real women and the stories behind people. Every makeup job is as individual and unique as the person it is applied to or the client it is created for. Anything can inspire me from a structure, texture or colour in nature to even more abstract inspirations such as character and mood.

Favourite look for the 2014/2015 season? Fresh radiant skin, softly blended defined eyes and a lip colour that brightens the skin. Simple and flawless with effortless hair!

If you weren’t a hair and makeup artist what would you be? An architect, an inventor, a car designer, a photographer, a fashion editor, a publisher, a traveler, a puppy trainer, a nutritionist, a yoga teacher, an ice cream maker, a writer or a unicorn!

All time fave beauty product? Only one? That’s tough, it would need to be an all rounder…like Avene Thermal Spring Water. Or pure organic coconut oil. Makeup wise my hero products are Nars Lipsticks, Chanel Foundations and By Terry Concealers. Fail. I can’t name only one…

Dream wedding destination? Outdoors, anywhere with sunshine. I do really love Croatia.

Favourite ceremony/reception venue? In Sydney my favourite is The Grounds of Alexandria.

Where can we see more of your work? Follow my Facebook page and check out my website.

Liv did the hair and makeup for our ‘Pedal to the Metal’ shoot that features in issue five of Hello May (which you can order online here with FREE postage) and we have included a few, never seen before, sneaky out takes of her handy work below with photos by the wonderful Lara Hotz and a rad behind the scenes video from Light Noise Films you can view here. Big thanks to Luisa Brimble for the beautiful portrait photo of Liv.”

They say that if you love what you do for a living you will never have to work a single day in your life ever again.

I love what I do and I am grateful everyday that I am living my dream.
What this quote doesn’t tell you is that you will still need time for yourself, holidays and quiet time to rest, which is too easy to forget,
when just being so happy about being busy and all the wonderful opportunities.
Being a professional makeup artist, I sometimes have to poke myself, that this is all real.
So many amazing have happened and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to travel to Bali as destination wedding makeup artist and can’t wait to work again in Europe and the USA.
It’s always important to remember how far you have come rather on how far there still is to go.
As beauty expert and beauty editor, I have had the chance to work with exciting brands lately and I have many more ideas.
Of course there are always new challenges, dreams & goals to achieve, but in the meantime I am very happy to be well on my way.
I am trying my best to find the balance, as I think I am a little bit of a workaholic, but heh, back to the topic:

Photo shoots like the recent Hello May Editorial in Issue Five (go and grab your copy now!!!) are just a dream to work on
with an incredible team of creatives and just simply amazing, inspiring, funny and lovable people the final images of a
shoot like this will always mean a lot to me. The hairstyling & makeup for this was more out there then the usual clean fresh bridal look, and it was exciting to create this wild & powerful look.
Also this is one of my favourite and in my opinion the best wedding & lifestyle magazine there is.
To see my work in print is a very special moment and makes me warm & fuzzy inside.
And then after all that excitement, the behind the scenes video got released and reminded me once more of how much fun we had working on this.
