engagement guitar!

The awesome designer and writer of the blog MADE IN ENGLAND,
just got engaged to his amazing girlfriend and blogger of MONSTER MUNCH.
But instead of giving her a diamond ring,
HE GAVE HER AN ENGAGEMENT GUITAR: Now that really literally rocks!
“Rather than get a diamond ring, which to be honest I think is probably the least interesting thing you can spend a lot of money on,
I got her a guitar instead!
Neither of us play guitar, so at first sight it seems quite a random choice.. But her maiden name is Gibson, same as the legendary guitar makers, so I thought I’d get her something to remind her of that when she becomes Mrs Cookie.
I wanted to get her a vintage Gibson (this sort of thing just gets better with age), preferably a 1977 model to match her birth year (and mine). “

Congratulations guys: You rock!

While the wonderful blogger and writer from A CUP OF JO was on her honeymoon recently, she invited guestbloggers to take part in a project dedicated to the topic “secrets to a happy marriage”
A lot of cool couples shared their personal and great advice with the readers.
Its totally worth checking it out: my favorite so far is this.

A True Love Story:

The other night in the pub our friend Sandrine mentioned she is going to France to attend the wedding of her parents. Right! Her parents! They have been together for 30 years, but have never tied the knot!.
Sandrine has kindly shared with us all the details so that i can share it with you all!

So this cute little love story goes like this…Jaqueline, 30 meets Jean-Marc, 24 (toy boy) at a fancy dress party in the south of France in 1979. Jean Marc was an indian, and Jaqueline was dressed as…Charlie Chaplin! 2 years later, Sandrine was born.

And now 30 years later, aged 60, and 54, they have finally decided to tie the knot this coming September. It will be a very discreet civil wedding with 2 official witnesses: Sandrine and her gran, Henriette, who at aged 80 has just returned from a cruise around Russia!! (more on that another time!) Unfortunately all of Sandrines other grand parents have now passed, making this a small but intimate affair.

The cutest part of this story has to be the fact that her Mum, visiting her fathers mother, and future inlaw has, on one knee and all, just asked her Grandma for the hand of her dad!!
Isn’t this unbelievable? Just proves its definitely never too late for a wedding.

A special thanks to Sandrine for sharing this story! Its real life and real people that inspire me most. Thanks honey!!

Rainbow Week! Gay festivals and parades all over the world! Hooray!
My neighbours girlfriend surprised her with a visit all the way from Sydney to celebrate with her love in Berlin!
Their love inspired me to do this gay wedding post.
I guess most inspiration for my blog is from people anyway!
But I did some extra research on gay wedding themes.
I found two rad gay weddingblogs for you:
So you are enGAYged and SteadyHappy

Love and Pride is a jewellery label that supports gay marriage and also offers some information about the topic on their website.

Recommend watching this movies: Milk. The story of Harvey Milk, and his struggles as an American gay activist who fought for gay rights and became California’s first openly gay elected official and Fucking Åmål Two teenage girls in small-town Sweden. Elin is beautiful, popular, and bored with life. Agnes is friendless, sad, and secretly in love with Elin.

Check out this stunning real gay marriage featured on a practical wedding few months ago (if you haven’t seen it already!)
And now I will get me some rainbow accessories…

How deep is your love? My friend Julia just sent me a link to a rad article from the guardian:
“They say love conquers all. But can your love conquer a pan-pipe cover version of Sexual Healing?”
Charlie Brookers amazing idea was to create a digital mixtape with the worst cheesiest lovesongs ever.
If you can stand listening to it together, and it doesn’t kill your love-mood at all then you know for sure that you are madly in love.”How can you be sure the pair of you really like each other? By trying to have sex while listening to a deliberately off-putting musical playlist, of course.
My playlist, while tasteless in parts, doesn’t contain anything quite that horrifying, but it should prove one heck of an obstacle course. All you have to do is download and install Spotify, then go to this URL. Click around a bit and it should open the compilation….It won’t be easy. But if you make it to the end, then congratulations: you’ve proved your love will abide through the ages. Oh, and as a bonus, pick one of the entries for a wedding song. Then watch all your guests throw up.”
Ok, I wouldn’t go that far! But thanks for this love test idea Charlie!

Liv loves the yeah yeah yeahs!
They inspire me a lot, remind me of how f*ing much I am missing
NYC and make my days over here rock!
Jumping through my studio….
High on caffeine (uhm,I am also hard working at the same time)
Oh yeah yeah yeah!
I wanna share this part of lyrics that really got me!
(when Lav told me it reminded him of us, uh,wow!)

Baby I’m afraid of a lot of things
but I aint scared of loving you
baby I know your afraid of a lot of things
but don’t be scared of love
cause people will say all kinds of things
that don’t mean a dam to me

cause all I see is what’s in front of me
and thats you

Well, I’ve been dragged all over the place
i’ve taken hits time just don’t erase
and baby I can see you’ve been fucked with too
but that don’t mean your loving days are through
cause people will say all kinds of things
that don’t mean a dam to me
cause all I see is what’s in front of me and thats you

well I may be just a fool
but I know you are just as cool
and cool kids they belong together

Let’s share the LURVE !

Posted on: Saturday, May 9, 2009

Woody Allens amazing declaration of love in Annie Hall
(yes i would recommend that movie!!!) inspired the title of a great new magazine project:

Do you love me?
Love is too weak a word for what I feel –
I luuurve you, you know,
I loave you, I luff you, two F’s,
yes I have to invent, of course I – I do, don’t you think I do?

Taking inspiration from this charming dialogue, a group of of passionate people based in Berlin, have launched a magazine called LURVE.They were looking for a fashion publication ahead of trends and with more depth, yet visually striking.
Miles away from the usual fashion glossy, the magazine puts the emphasis on emerging designers and artists, new talents and creators of our future.
Crossing the fields of arts, fashion and music, LURVE is the voice of a more demanding generation eager to explore contemporary culture and creation, beyond the mainstream.
Pretty cool,huh?
