Bridal Bouqet !?

via Little Winter Bride

I like it!
And it reminds me that my new place in London still really lacks plants.
Now that London’s Autumn fully kicked in I spend more time inside I miss greens. And flowers.
We have awesome flower markets here in London and this weekend I will
go and create something wild and beautiful for our room!

The wedding without a dress

photo via Green Wedding Shoes

One of my good friends from Berlin just got engaged.
The best news of the week.
When she told me I was smiling all day long.
I met up with them a week ago and it was soooo good so see them.
Since I moved to London I hardly had contact with my friends over there.
Just a email, here and there, facebook messages…
But to meet friends in real life feels so good. They were super happy (obvsly) and I loved hearing their whole messed up proposal story

I got a bit excited to create a dress for her and was slightly disappointed but also impressed by her decision to marry without a wedding dress.
Yes that’s right. She said she never had this princess vision of herself as a bride anyway, they don’t have the budget to buy a real cool designers dress and would love to spent more on the event, and good food, so all their friends will have a good time. Fair enough.
The plan:
Her fiancés is from London with a Spanish background.
They tried to find a location that combines the German, English and Spanish culture:MALLORCA!
So they are planning to rent a finca over there and are going to have a beach and pool wedding.
The bride will wear a white one-piece swim with a beachy little something on top.

P.S: I didn’t ask about the groom outfit.
PPS: Maybe I should finally move somewhere sunny and design swimwear!?

The suit called Abbey Road

Dave was in need of a new super cool suit for an upcoming business trip and I have been totally thrilled to join him on the suit shopping tour.
Really what I needed to lift me up and relax for a few hours from job hunting.
Though I usually try to find smaller more independent brands, it’s not too easy when it comes to suits, plus: our time was limited. We only had one afternoon to find the wonder suit.
We couldn’t have found a better more suitable piece. Fit, style, color everything was just right.
So you grooms-to-be out there, check out Paul Smith for rad suit designs.
And their staff in their flagship store was super helpful and great as well.

How to wear a bikini in winter

I just received this stunning Quilted Bandeau Set by Mouille. The talented designer of Mouille that I featured on my blog before here sponsored this glamourous piece for me to review.

It’s rad. As a designer myself I can tell that the quality of the fabric as well as the production is excellent. It’s been ethically made in India and I love to support extraordinary emerging designers. This item is from the brand new 2011 collection. I totally dig the nude color.
The only problem: I want to wear it straight away. (and the current temperature in London is about 12degrees)
Maybe I should match it with my new vintage camel coat? And fake fur hat?

a week full of surprises!

Liv loves surprises. Most of the time they are good ones and keep life exciting.
This week has been a tough one, I lost my dayjob a little earlier than I had planned.
That created a panic attack and major mind chaos.
I also lost my favorite ring, that my grandma gave to me: A real golden beauty with a timeless art deco appeal and a diamond.
But then there are good surprises, like that my man stays calm and strong in shitty situations and proved to be a proper rock.
The holiday plans are screwed, and I just got an amazing beach bikini, but with the job situation it looks like we have to cancel the holiday, I was so excited about.
I couldn’t find time for my new writing project either.
So: My dear readers, whoever knows a contact for any suitable job for me in London,
please feel free to email me!

how to overcome hibernation mode

Summer is over. My body starts to get into hibernation mood.
When I get up in the morning it’s still really dark outside.
But there is always coffee…
The other good news are that there is an exciting new blog project coming up.
The ladies of Artschoolvets, a cool Berlin based group of artists, designers, musicians etc. are about to launch “this is Jane Wayne” the female counterpart of the main website.
I am more than happy to follow their invitation and join the cool ladies behind it.
I will keep you up to date about the launching date.
I have to push my self now to get out of hibernation mode, to get the print look books done and preparing for sales and production. Get started with the new blog….and finding myself some cozy winter clothes.
I hope to work with lots of great brides this season and I am already really looking forward to create fantastic styles for them!

All I’ve ever wanted…

MACHA is still one of my favorite jewellery designers.
I wrote already about some rocking rings by Macha a while ago here.

Her wedding/engagement ring collection is just so cool,
that I have to mention her again.

The Mackenzie Ring for example with its 5 spiky black diamonds
that were set upside down along one side for a glamorous alternative to a stud. I would totally want that one as my wedding band.
Possibly with grey diamonds?
Black diamonds? Upside down? She is a genius!
That’s why she offers equally stunning rings for men.

And I totally want the Rockwell Ring as engagement ring.
For me customized with a yellow gold band and a white gold “rock”
Look how rad the different styles are looking together: here
The Mackenzie would also go with all the grey diamond designs, that I loved so much and wrote about here.

Blushless 2011 Transformation_ The Video

The new Blushless collection takes its inspiration from the spirit of transformation.
Fascinated by the dynamic nature of supernovae and the composed and structured form of butterflies, I have fallen in love with the idea of giving the Blushless bride wings.
The new collection is able to portray these ideas through the use of dynamic silhouettes, transformable lengths and aspiring shapes that change seamlessly when viewed from different angles.

Three pieces have been created to each represent the three states of time:
The Past, The Present, and The Future.

“Life is only what is lived, moment to moment and place to place and space to space and time to time
because you are always you.” Yogi Bhajan

Green City Wedding Guide for LONDON

The online magazine Eco Beautiful Weddings just posted its Fall 2010 Issue
and it includes a Green City Wedding Guide for London featuring a lot of independent and sustainable local wedding businesses.
Blushless is in there as well. (page 29)
If you are a UK bride to be, you should definitely check it out.
(P.S: The article has been written by the fabulous Anna And The Ring)

Thanks to a fabulous team!

The BLUSHLESS video-/photoshoot went great.
It was magical to see the dresses worn and in movement and suddenly I remembered what all the sleepless nights are for, and why I have to keep going.
This is what I love. It will always be worth to give everything for it.

Thanks again to all the wonderful people that were involved and made it happen.
Everyone has been fabulous, so was the location and even the sun was shining. I can’t wait to see the results!
I will have to wait for the photos a few more days and the video will need quite a lot of post production,
so it will still be a busy week before the official dress revealing.
But Liv will be back to full blog posting speed soon.
!!!More backstage photos as well as credits to come!!!

1, 2, 3 !!!

Liv is organising the upcoming photo/video shoot for the
new Blushless styles,
finishing dresses, puzzling the concept together.
Psssssssssssst, it will be 1,2,3! new styles-
And you had a little sneak-peak already.
Time is going superfast right now.
Can’t believe August is already over.
2010 is on speed. I have to go back to work.
See ya soon.

one of these days

Photo via Une Vie De La Chute

I have to say I haven’t had one of this days in ages.
But today it fully kicked in. I started to question every little dust corn in my life.
Just everything went wrong. I kept making the most ridiculous mistakes 3 times in a row.
My train was delayed ….I had a headache-my brain felt like mash:
Small things really.
But enough to realise I NEED A LITTLE BREAK,
just this one night without work. The evening off, at least.
And I am already feeling better!
I had a delicious dinner at Busaba Eathai in Shoreditch.
I needed some people watching I had to leave the house, and my work for some time.
Thank you Dave for fabulous company and motivation.
And now I snuggle up EARLY and listen to the storm and rain outside.

What do you do if you have one of those days? What brings you back on track?

always-anytime-twentyfour-seven

Here is a little sneak preview of new styles and you can see what I am up to.
Liv lacks sleep these days.
I finally started working on my dresses again, but beside a full time job
Its hard to manage everything on a way too short day of 24 hours.
I am excited though for the new styles and litres of coffee and really loud music keep me going.
Its weekend again, which means workin on my business day and night.
My biggest wish and main goal is to make a living from my designs and be able to focus on that.

livs golden skull minibar

Last sunday while wandering around Broadway Market after breakfast at
l’eau a La Bouche (highly recommended!)
we discoverd in a magical little furniture & antique shop
full of cool little things, from issey miyake catwalk sunglasses, to the most amazing teapot set…
I could have bought the whole shop (but the price tags didn’t allow me to do so)
At least Liv found loads of inspiration- for free!

The golden skull mini home bar arrangement really got me.
The white painted wood table with a mirror table top decorated with golden paint, a shiny skull candle and a set of different antique cocktail glasses with golden rim:
Perfection!
I am a sucker for almost everthing golden anyway.
And I wanted to share it with you because of it’s weddingy festiveness.
So? Who’s is gonna rock something like that on their wedding?
