Jane Iredale Skin Is In Review Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert
bridal-hair-piece-3 2
Makeup By Liv Lundelius using Jane Iredale, for Bride La Boheme, Photography by Lana Ivanova

Jane Iredeale got it right! The new collection is all about the No Makeup Look, which I LOVE.
There is a new PureGloss colour called “White Tea” which is a sheer nude browny/beige colour, I love it, especially on medium to darker skin tones or summer bronzed skin.
“Flawless” colour blush, which has a very lovely neutral shade, just enough colour to give your cheeks that healthy flush without looking like you are wearing blush.
It’s also a matte colour, so it’s undetactable, no shimmer, no sheen. Quite a nice change after all the gloss and shimmer we have seen for years now.
(nothing wrong with it if you like shimmer and dewyness, I love it too and you can always add highlight!)
The Eyebrow Kit has had a revamp and is now called GreatShape and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, it’s my favourite brow product which I use on myself every day and it’s the staple product in my pro makeup kit as well.
The Limited Edition Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit, is a real winner, with 5 (!) neutral and very wearable shades all completely matte. Jane Iredales matte shdows are never chalky though, they are richly pigmented and glide on very beautifully. It comes as a mirrored compact, which is very nice and flat, so perfect for carrying in your makeup bag.

It’s your no nonsense, quality basics kinda collection. Think Capsule Wardrobe for Makeup.
Good quality basics that you can actually wear day to day and that go with everything.
Well done Jane Iredale!

For the look above I have used:
Smooth Affair Primer, Dreamtint Tinted Moisturizer with Pure Pressed Powder, Great Shape Eyebrow Kit, Longest Lash Mascara, Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit, Brown Jelly Jar Eyeliner, Yummy Play On Lip Crayon, Moonglow highlighter (the lightest shade)

Sappho Cosmetics Organic Liquid Foundation Find

Sappho Liquid Foundation Review Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert Organic Makeup Artist Sydney

I first came across Sappho via Instagram and was impressed with their all natural ingredient list, once I looked them up online.
Months later I have finally gotten my hands on some of their beautiful foundation, brushes and colours.
Sappho is an organic high end makeup brand from Canada. It’s been developed by the professional makeup artist JoAnn Fowler.
These range has definitely professional use quality. All Sappho cosmetics are paraben, gluten, talc, mineral oil and dimethicone free.
Which is great news for those of you, who prefer to use silicone free products.
To find a great natural foundation is always the trickiest, so let me focus on this and tell you more about the Liquid Organic Foundation:

The Cute Packaging
The Liquid foundation comes in 8 shades covering most skin tones. The bottle is a 30ml pump bottle. It looks very luxurious almost like glass, yet it’s a lightweight plastic. This is a real plus for professional artists.
(You have no idea how heavy my makeup kit is, so I prefer lightweight packaging if possible!) On the note of packaging: All the Sappho packaging is quite quirky and different, somewhat alternative and artistic looking.
All boxes are kraft paper coloured cartons with a painting illustration on it.
It’s one of these products that is actually good for your skin.

Beauty comes from the inside
But looks aside, what is actually IN this foundation:
This is a mineral foundation (no talc!!!) in an organic aloe vera juice and organic jojoba oil base. If you have read my post on oils, you know that jojoba oil is non comedogenic and very good for all skin types including oily and acne prone skins. It also contains frankincense which is known for it’s ability to boost collagen production. This makes this a great anti-aging foundation.
This foundation is packed with natural antioxidants and contains essential oils including organic calendula, neem oil, rockrose oil, meadowfoam oil, carrot oil, rosemary extract, lavender, roman chamomile and cedarwood.

The feel & finish
This foundation feels exceptionally light! No film, no greasiness on the skin. Yet it has lovely light reflecting properties and gives the skin a glow, in a beautiful, non shiny way.
It blends very easily, especially considering that no silicones are used to improve the texture. I prefer buffing it into the skin with the Sappho Blush brush. A super soft and very beautiful vegan brush.
It’s important to shake it well before application!
The coverage is medium. If you have severe acne scarring or pigmentation you will need a concealer in addition to this foundation, smaller imperfections are covered really well.
Of course the purpose of any foundation should never be to cover up a persons skin, it should rather enhance it! This is where Sappho Liquid Foundations scores all the brownie points.
If you prefer a higher all over coverage this foundation can be applied in a second layer without problems.
It smells of natural essential oils, and while they evaporate quickly the smell is fairly prominent when you apply it.
I personally really like the smell, it’s fresh, herbal and natural. I am using shade “Kate” which a nice tan/olive shade, great for me in Summer.

I was really impressed with the liquid foundation. It leaves your skin looking beautiful and like skin.

The “Undo” concealer is also tooo good to not mention it here! It works best blended together with your foundation and it immediately colour corrects and brightens dark circles.
A tiny bit goes a very long way with this.

Green Beauty Brand Profile: Jane Iredale

Posted on: Wednesday, September 23, 2015

If you follow my Instagram you may noticed that I frequently use Jane Iredale products on set in my professional makeup kit.
I have written about some products in the range and reviewed some here and there, but I thought I give you a bit more background info about this brand.
I am quite picky when it comes to the selection of my makeup kit. The products really need to perform, last and also be suitable for a variety of skin types while keeping the allergy risk to a minimum.
Therefore I select pure products that soothe and calm the skin and are less likely to cause irritation.

Ethical
Jane Iredale products do exactly that! They are also certified cruelty free, which is VERY important to me personally.
Free of parabens, synthetic fragrance and other nasties they are a good choice for my green makeup kit. These products are mineral based and contain organic and natural extracts.
Coverage, application and texture are incredible. The Vitamins and antioxidants in the formulas are pharmaceutical grade and certified organic where available.

Performance
The best thing about Jane Iredale makeup from a pro perspective is the longevity: Even in very humid conditions and on long days this makeup lasts and lasts and lasts…. All the pressed products are also unable to hold bacteria as they are inert. This makes sure everything stays nice and clean and no germs get into the makeup onto your skin. A real plus for a professional makeup kit and your skin.
Jane Iredale is still family owned business by the founder Jane Iredale herself. She only produces high quality products and has a high ethical standard.

The difference
I have tried mineral makeup before and to say that I did not like it would be an understatement.
I found most mineral makeup to have a bad and limited colour selection, messy application, a flat, chalky and uneven finish, looking aging on the skin, emphasizing pores and dryness…
to sum it up: A total mess that I would never use personally or professionally.
The other confusing thing about mineral makeup is that not all minerals are safe or clean at all. Minerals can be polluted with harmful heavy metals or contain drying or harmful minerals
such as Talc or Bismuth Oxychloride.
That’s why I stayed clear of mineral makeup for years. Until I discovered Jane Iredale. Finally a brand offered intensive testing of the minerals used, ensuring safety & purity and at last performance!!! This makeup looks and feels good on the skin.

Natural?
Jane Iredale chooses to use silicones in their products for performance and improved texture. The chosen ones are never contamined with potentially harmful substances and considered safe. As mentioned before this brand has very strict testing of all their products and ingredients used.
Jane Iredeale chooses to do these tests, they are not required by law to do this. That is the real difference in quality that you get with this makeup.
While most other brands in my kit are 100% organic or 100% natural, Jane Iredale is not. There are certain synthetic ingredients used, however only if they are truly considered safe and non toxic. So I am happy to confirm that all products in my kit are cruelty-free and toxin free! Most natural beauty lovers use and love Jane Iredale, while others find it not natural enough.
I think everyone has to do their own research. I have had the chance to attend some training with this brand and researched a lot to clear up any misconceptions. In my opinion it’s a fabulous brand, that is also very upfront about it’s certifications and ingredients. They certainly meet my personal and ethical standards.
It does not green wash or use any misleading terms, yet is a brand that seems to truly care about it’s products, the environment and it’s clients.

Every Brides Dream
And boy, does this makeup work for brides! So many of my clients have emailed me with raving reviews saying they didn’t need to touch up their makeup and when they were dancing wild at the reception everything was still in place. Of course there is more to long wearing makeup than products alone (e.g. pro application, skin prep etc). I think that Jane Iredale products play a BIG role in the longevity of wedding makeup.

My new ambassador role
As professional and independent artist I will always use a variety of brands in my kit and take advantage of the freedom to pick and choose the best products available.
I have chosen to be ambassador for Jane Iredale, this fabulous brand! In my pro kit I am using a huge percentage of these wonderful products!
I can proudly say that I love to support this brand. I really hope you love it too!

I will follow up with a few looks where and how I have used these fab products on my latest work and editorials.

Gressa – a revolution in skincare, makeup & love

Gressa Minimalist Foundation Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert
You might have heard about Gressa already, I have mentioned it on Instagram before and also recently
included it in my list of favourite brands over here at Consume With Care.

Gressa is something else. Now I have heard of serum foundations and makeup that is good for the skin many times, yet Gressa actually lives up to this promise.
The formulas are squeaky clean and free of synthetic chemicals, yet so glamourous and luxurious.
It’s a brand that thinks outside the box. Certified organic using purest quality ingredients the formulas and textures are different to other brands, Gressa truly reinvents makeup.
Or should I say skincare? Most products are both. A real treatment for the skin delivering colour. And the actual skincare is so potent that again, you don’t even need much makeup anymore.
Founder and natural beauty Svetlana herself is the best proof that this line delivers healthy glowing skin.
She has a admirable minimalist approach to skincare, really showing that less is more, to keep your skin healthy.

I discovered the brand a little while ago and have been experimenting with it. It’s so gorgeous I really wanted to take time before reviewing it, although I was impressed right from the start.
Finally I have received the correct shade of Minimalist foundation for myself and have been wearing it everyday. And what can I say?
This foundation works different to all others I have used, everyday it seems I need to use less and less of it, as my skin heals and becomes more and more even and healthy. It’s a little bit amazing. I have been using the products on photo shoots and they work a treat in front of the camera, yet I feel they are perfect for everyday wear and your personal beauty regime at home.
Let me tell you in more detail about the products, before I get too carried away:

Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation:
The Minimalist foundation comes in a dark glass bottle with dropper! Say what? Yes that’s right.
The texture is truly that of an liquid skin serum. It says on the box that it is like a multivitamin for your skin. Checking out the ingredient list, this is absolutely true:
It’s a cocktail of organic botanical oils and extracts all chosen for their skin care benefits, no fillers here!
Minimalist foundation also contains a unique blend of herbal extracts helping the skin to heal.

Application:
Only 4 drops are enough to give a light even coverage all over the face.
This no fuss treatment can be applied with fingers, or buffed with a foundation brush. It’s important to shake the bottle beforehand!
When I started using it my skin had a few blemishes and scarring, so I used a little more products, applying with hands and then
blending it with a fluffy foundation brush to make it even.

Finish:
The finish is glowing but not oily/dewy, the liquid serum sets to a powder, yet the finish is not powdery or matte.
It’s just perfect. It looks like healthy skin! Reflecting the light and looking radiant without being shimmery yet giving the skin a velvety appearance.
Does this even make sense? The coverage is medium, it can be applied very lightly for a more sheer result and layers well for more coverage also.

Feel:
The foundation glides on very smoothly and has an extremely lightweight feel on the skin. It almost feels like the skin is bare after application.

Skintype:
This foundation great is for all skin types. If your skin is extremely dry or flaky, it might show off dry areas. (but hey, no foundation can really deal with very dry skin)
At the same time is remains radiant and my t-zone will show oil after a few hours. My skin is combination: Can be dry around cheeks and nose, oily in the t-zone.
It’s so lightweight that I think even oily skin would love it, and it is so smooth that I can also see it work on mature skin very well.

Colourmatch:
Gressa offers an online colour match based on a photo. The foundation currently comes in 11 shades, so most skin tones will find a perfect match.

Minimalist Contouring Serum Bronzer:
The bronzer comes in the same packaging and texture as the Minimalist Foundation. It’s only one shade, which a very rich, dark and olive colour.
This makes it perfect for contouring, as the colour is not orange or shimmery at all. Like the other liquid products in the Gressa range, this is very concentrated.
Start with a drop and will it go a long way.

Ilumminator:
The Minimalist Illuminating Serum can be mixed with your foundation or used as highlighter over the top.
It is very concentrated, so you only need a small amount of 1-2 drops. The colour is pinkish pearlized, making it perfect for fair to medium complexions.

Lip Boost:
Contained in a pretty little glass jar the Lip Boost is a highly pigmented tinted balm, leaving the lips with a beautiful stain.
I have tried Aux Rouge and Lavish and I might have to get the other shades too. Aux rouge seems like the perfect red for everyone.
You can wear these sheer or build the pigment up to a more opaque finish.

Purifying Mist:
The Purifying Mist is a toner that balances & soothes both your skin and mind. A pure rose mist, which was on stand by on my desk for as long as it lasted.
Love the refreshing smell of pure rose. And this is all it is: Pure certified organic rose water.
Gressa also has the best selling Neroli toner, I will have to try this one as well….

Purifying Oil:
Purifying Oil is a very lightweight oil suitable for all skin types. An excellent blend of organic natural oils featuring:
Immortelle, Rose Hip and Jojoba Oils among others.

There are many more products by Gressa which I haven’t tried yet check out the website to see the full product range.

Zuii Organic Review Organic Makeup Artist Sydney Eco Makeup Artist

I have recently had some fun with the Zuii Organic Range.

My fav’s were the Eye Brow Definer, Maxi Lash Mascara and funky Flora Eye Shadows.
The eye makeup products are lovely and also great for editorial makeup use.
This range is filled with colour and certified Organic.
I have been using the mascara with great success on my sensitive eyes, and experiencend no watering or itching.
It is not water proof, yet it holds up throughout my work day really well.

If you are in the market for a silicone free primer, this one is really worth trying.
It absorbs quickly and is suitable for all skin types and creates a lovely smooth base for your foundation.
As I am very yellow tones I didn’t find a good colour match in their foundations, this primer however is a good find.

Zuii is powered by flowers and every product uses beautiful botanical oils and flower extracts.
I find the range perfect for teens and young women who love colour, they even do vegan colourful mascara.

One: It’s important to prep your lips and make sure they are smooth and hydrated. Besides drinking enough water in the lead up of your wedding, it’s a good idea to exfoliate your lips with a special lip scrub or with a soft toothbrush and some lip balm.

Two: Apply a generous layer of lip balm while you get your makeup done.

Three: When you are ready for lipstick, blot off excess balm and use a creamy lip liner in your lip colour or the colour of your choice to apply all over the lips. This will improve the staying power of your lipstick immensely.

Four: Stay with your natural lip shape and don’t draw outside of your lip line. If your lips are uneven you can balance them with lip liner to make them appear more symmetric. Once the colour fades it disappears evenly and you won’t be left with a scary outline of lip liner, which is never a good look.

Five: If you choose to wear a bright or deep lipstick shade keep in mind that it will transfer and stain your future husband. When kissing, many brides wear a lighter more neutral lip colour for the ceremony and a more colourful one for the reception.

Six: If you choose to wear red or bold lips, blot the lips with a tissue and apply another layer, you can repeat this step to achieve more staying power and a deeper colour.

Seven: Apply your lipstick with a lip brush for a professional finish, you will be much more precise.

Eight: Have your lipstick with you for touch-up’s after drinks, food and kisses.

Nine: Have fun and get married!

Ten: Live Happily Ever After.

I just received the latest issue of White Magazine and as usual it’s packed with beautiful inspiration, and honest articles on love, relationships
and marriage. For this issue I was asked to create a series of bridal beauty looks and hair trends for brides.
Here on the blog I share with you a little How-to on how I actually achieved these looks, together with
the products used and recommended products.

Luminous Blushing Bride
This look focuses on soft, radiant blush balanced with a subtle eye and lip.The only colour I used here is a radiant soft pink on the lips and cheeks.
Skin: Apply Inika Truly Organic Liquid Foundation with a soft kabuki brush.
It’s a great product but a very limited colour range.
It won’t mask the skin or lovely freckles while still evening out the skin.
Use a high coverage concealer only to cover redness or blemishes for an invisible flawless finish.
I applied Inika Light Reflect on top of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and cupid’s bow.
Use ILIA translucent powder only through the t-zone to keep excess shine at bay at the very end.
Eyes: Start with evening out the eyelid with a hint of a tinted eye-primer or foundation.
Apply a dab of Inika Creme Eyeshadow in Pink Cloud to highlight in the inner corners and apply a Jane Iredale Peach Sherbet Eyeshadow.
Draw a thin line with Jane Iredale Jelly Gel Eyeliner in Brown along the upper lash line.
Enhance your eyelashes by curling them and coating them with Longest Lash Mascara.
Apply the mascara right on the roots of the lashes to give that framing effect and a luscious thick lash line.
Brows: Fill in eyebrows softly with Jane Iredale Bitty Brow Kit and hold in place with Pure Brow Fix gel.
Cheeks: ILIA Multistick in “All Of Me” to the apple of the cheek and warm into the skin using fingers
Lips: Ilia Karma Chameleon Lip Crayon adds the perfect pop of colour leaving the lips looking moisturized.

Wild Braids
Prep the hair with a heat protecting texturizing product and blow dry your hair to get a great shine and voloume.
I used Yarok Feed Your Roots Mousse and my H2D Hair dryer.
Part your hair in the center and just behind the ear.
Start braiding one large section from the front and secure the ends with an elastic.
Wrap the section across your forehead where you wish to place it and secure with Bobbi Bins.
Repeat on the other side and place just above your first braid.
Braid the last 2 sections and pin in place so the head is evenly covered.
Now start messing the braids up! Gently pull sections in the braids to create more texture and an uneven modern look.
Spray with hair spray to enhance shine and hold style in place.
A great natural spray is Yarok Feed Your Hold Spray

All looks are created with 100% luxurious, toxin free and/or organic beauty products that create professional results,
while being good for you. I feel these looks are so versatile that they easily go beyond bridal and could of course be worn by anyone.
I hope you enjoyed and I stay tuned for the next looks!

The Six Week Bridal Beauty Prep: Get your Beauty Sleep

Posted on: Wednesday, May 13, 2015

Liv Lundelius Makeup Artist Editorial Beauty Expert Sydney Natalija 2015 Campaign web
Photo by Simon Everiss, Makeup & Hair by Liv Lundelius Model: Annalise Mclachlan
Styling: Rosemarie Pantling Interior: The Society Inc

I am thrilled to have beauty sleep expert and designer Natalija over at the blog today!
She is the creative mind behind the stunning sleepwear label NATALIJA the label.
The latest collection is awesome and I was lucky to see the designs prior to the launch, when
I was working closely with founder Natalija to create the hair & makeup looks for the latest campaign.
She is sharing some tips and info about Beauty Sleep with us and we also had a little chat about her
collection.

Why is sleep so important for our skin and overall wellbeing?

Sleeping Beauty was onto something! I recently read a study that showed for the first time that poor quality sleep can accelerate signs of skin ageing

like wrinkles, age spots and inflammation. Lack of sleep can also weaken the skin’s ability to

repair itself at night from a variety of environmental stresses such as sun exposure. And it

may prevent adequate secretion of melatonin levels, which is a natural antioxidant that is

important in helping regulate the internal body clock’s cycle of sleep.

What can women do to improve their sleep? Are any rituals that you would like to share?

It is important to continue a well-balanced routine into the night to ensure you have a great

sleep and wake up feeling revitalised for the day ahead. Here are 3 simple solutions that

take minimal effort but will help prepare your body and mind for a restful night’s sleep (and

stay asleep!).

1. Stick to routine – set a reasonable bedtime for yourself and make sleep a priority.

Try to be in bed at the same time every night, this will reinforce your body’s sleep-

wake cycle and can help you fall asleep better.

2. Wind down before bed – spend about an hour unwinding with some relaxing

activities at the end of your day. This could include reading a book, listening to

soothing music, soaking in a warm bath or taking a shower.

3. Sip a cup of Sleep Tea – Chamomile is a small white petal flower, reminiscent of a

daisy. Commonly known as the sleep tea, it is usually dried and steeped into tea to

help soothe and relax the body, and help to promote a healthy sleep cycle and

overall wellbeing.

Liv Lundelius Makeup Artist Editorial Beauty Expert Sydney Natalija 2015 Campaign green beauty expert web02

Your sleepwear labels designs are truly inspiring, I saw they are all made from natural fibre

like pure silk or cotton, can you tell us more about this?

Choosing what to wear to bed can directly affect the quality of your sleep. My focus when

designing is on luxury and comfort, so I carefully selected fabrics that make women feel

beautiful, ensuring they have a great sleep and wake up feeling revitalised for the day

ahead!

Silk is considered to be one of best fabrics to sleep in. It is comfortable, soft to touch,

naturally hypoallergenic, breathable, and makes you feel AMAZING. Silk is also capable of

keeping you warm during winter, and cool in the hot summer months.

What inspired you to create a sleepwear line?

I first found inspiration in 2012. Newly engaged, I went in search for feminine and affordable

nightwear options to purchase for my bridesmaids and myself, to wear while getting ready

on the wedding morning. I felt my choices were limited as the options were either femme

fatale, dowdy or slightly immature. It was during this time I noticed a gap in the sleep and

loungewear market for elegant and affordable options; so it was out of frustration and my

love of health and wellness, that my entrepreneurial spirit launched NATALIJA.

The brand celebrates and embraces women’s femininity. It is an invitation for women to be

inspired, choose colours and prints that speak to them, and combine pieces to form their

own unique individual style.

Do you have a personal favourite that you wear to bed?

My favourite piece from my new collection ‘Azulejos’ is the Thira silk pant for its fantastic

paisley print and beautiful blues (but again, it changes every week!).

Tell us about the idea and trend of Pj’s All Day.

I have detached all furry animals, hearts and grey marl to recreate the traditional sleep and

loungewear; carefully creating garments so beautiful and comfortable that women will feel

inspired to wear them all the time.

Channeling the ‘pyjamas all day’ look, the silky garments have the power to transcend from

the home to the outdoors, fusing together comfort and style. The luxe designs would look as

at home relaxed on a Sunday afternoon with a book and tea, as they would at night paired

with heels ordering your favourite drink. My most recent campaign Sleep to Street brings

to life this idea, inspiring women to have fun, be playful and feel beautiful!

As entrepreneur and business women, how do you make sure you get enough sleep?

The evening time is my time and I have a ritual to ensure I am relaxed, rested and ready to

have the best sleep so that I can wake up lively. My favourite is to use an oil burner and fill

my home with a soothing fragrance like lavender. I find it’s a great way to balance my inner

self before bed! I also get so excited when its bedtime as I get to slide into one my garments.

They feel amazing, and I feel beautiful wearing them. That’s the only way women should be

feeling when they go to sleep at night.

What is your biggest dream for the future?

To inspire women to have fun with fashion, be confident to express themselves and feel

beautiful. Create loungewear pieces that empower women to take their garments from

sleep to street, day to night. Evolving NATALIJA into a lifestyle brand, introducing more

versatile pieces, and then also linen, cushions and candles, all with the same sophisticated

and fashion forward approach.

How to hydrate and replenish sensitive dry Winter Skin

Posted on: Monday, May 11, 2015

liv lundelius organic skin care beauty tips green beauty expert sydney celebrity makeup artistDifferent Season – Different Skin Care
As the seasons change our skin has develops different needs as well and most of us have to adjust our skin care.
My own skin has become dry in areas as the temperatures dropped recently and I also had some redness and sensitivity.
I have just received an email from one of my lovely clients asking me about a good skin care routine,
product tips and facial recommendations for her dry/sensitive and dehydrated skin that also shows redness on the cheeks.
She works in an air conditioned office and prefers natural skincare.
In the lead up to her wedding day she wants her skin to be best. Don’t we all?
I got a little carried away with my response, spending about one hour to write recommendations and tips for her, so I thought I might as well share this with all of you, as we can all do with a little TLC for our Winter skins.

The Gentle Cleanse
If you are still using a foaming cleanser now is the time to ditch it, it most likely will strip the skin of it’s moisture and natural oils that it needs to stay healthy and hydrated.
Go for a super gentle cream-, balm-, or milk cleanser and use it to double cleanse. You can use these with your Clearisonic as well. The Calming Cream Cleanser by Z’kin is excellent for sensitive Skin. La Mav Hydra Calm Cleansing Crème formulated with Bio-Flavonoids, Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter to moisturize and cleanse the skin which will reveal a clear, bright, smooth feeling skin. I also love the SMOOTH Cleanser from Miskinorganics and another current favourite is Bloom Glow&Polish a unique cleansing paste that you freshly mix prior to application all these are replenishing the skin while removing makeup and cleansing away impurities.

The Key: Moisturize!
Find a nourishing moisturizer that protects the skin from further moisture loss.
Use 2x a day or use a different day and night cream if you prefer.
If my skin is red, reactive and very sensitive it’s in need for instant calming action my go to products are Zk’in Relief Moisturizer and Triology Very Gentle Calming Serum, the names say it all! For dry skin I recommend a very rich balmy moisturizer at night, and even apply it as mask in a thick layer when watching a movie or reading at home. Air conditioning and dry air from heaters is really bad for already dry skin, so please make sure you apply a lovely rich moisturizer and/or foundation as barrier to protect the skin. Trilogy Rosapene™ Night Cream works a treat as replenishing mask. Loaded with Antioxidants in a unique oil blend, manuka honey and Goji this will restore your skin quickly.
You can also try incooperate pure organic Oils like Rosehip oil into your routine: Try nutrient rich oils like Rosehip. The trick to using oils effectively is to mix them with water. They absorb so much better this way. Mix equal parts oil and water in your hands, and rub together vigorously before massaging the mixture onto your face. I like to spritz my face with a hydtrating spray before applying oils. Use alone, or layered under your usual moisturizer.
Everyone is talking about Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, believe the hype! It’s pure skincare at it’s best.

Hydration: The Spritz!
Hydrating sprays can be very beneficial to have handy on your desk, together with some handcream & lipbalm, especially if you are working in an air conditioned office. Jane Iredale makes my favourite ones, certified organic filled with lovely armomatherapy oils they are the ultimate luxury and the bottles are super pretty too.

liv lundelius beauty tips green cruelty free makeup artist beauty expert sydney review best eyecream organic skincare
Keep Young!
To target and prevent fine lines it’s a good idea to have a powerful anti ageing eyecream as part of your regime.
My favourites are; Tata Harper Restorative Eye Cream, Z’kin Line Smoothing Serum, La Mav Bio A7 Firming Eye Lotion

Shake it off!
Keep exfoliating. You can find my guide on exfoliation here.
Incoporate healthy fats in your diet like avocado and flaxseed oil, coconut oil and nuts and of course make sure you drink enough water.
If you are feeling less thirsty in the colder season try herbal teas and spicy chais (without black tea) which will warm you up, increase circulation and help you to stay hydrated.
I hope this helps! Feel free to post any questions or your personal tips and experience in the comments below. :)

The Six Week Bridal Beauty Prep PART TWO Cleansing & Exfoliating

Posted on: Monday, April 27, 2015

Liv Lundelius Best exfoliating beauty expert tips bridal beauty prep tata harper resurfacing mask clearisonic skin glow celebrity makeup artist

You have still six weeks to go and I hope you enjoyed part one, on how to get your Body glowing.
Let’s focus on the delicate skin of your face next.
Without question, everyone can benefit from regular exfoliation by using products with AHA (alpha hydroxy acid such as glycolic and lactic acids) or BHA (beta hydroxy acid, also known as salicylic acid).
Each provides multiple benefits, including fighting signs of aging and breakouts! Stick to products free of unneccessary synthetic fragrance and always ready the label!

GET THAT GLOW! Yay for AHA & BHA

Exfoliate once a week with a gentle AHA and/or BHA peel. This is my personal routine, some people prefer to use a mild exfoliation daily or every other day, everyone is different. My skin looks best when I exfoliate 1-2 times a week.
There are pads, gels, masks and cremes containing fruit enzymes, glycolic, lactic or mandelic acids, some products use a combination of different AHA’ s.
AHAs are preferred for sun-damaged and dry skin because they exfoliate on the surface of skin and have the added benefit of also improving moisture content.
If you are prone to break outs use a BHA product that contains Salicylic Acid.
BHA is preferred for oily, acne-prone skin and for treating blackheads and white bumps because BHA can get through the oil that’s clogging your pores, normalizing the lining of the misshapen pore that contributes to acne.BHA has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial action. Those are two more reasons to use a BHA exfoliant if you have acne or sensitive, reddened skin.
Both AHA and BHA work to reduce fine lines, stimulate collagen, and firm the skin.
There is no need to to physically rub and scrub and your skin when using these products, they work by gently loosing up the “glue” in between the dead skin cells, so that the old skin can come off without any damage to your skin. You will be left with a radiant glow. One of my favourite ever exfoliating masks is by Tata Harper, it gives instant radiance and is very gentle. It smells heavenly and the jelly texture is so fun.
I had the chance to meet the wonderful Tata in person in London and have been a fan of her products since. The resurfacing mask is available in Australia via Lulu&Lipstick, an awesome selection of beauty products from around the world that are hard to get in Australia.

NAY to scrubs
Many scrubs have a rough and uneven texture that can cause skin damage by tearing into the skin, causing tiny tears that damage the skin’s barrier. Scrubs often cause more problems than they could possibly solve.
If you do want to use a manual scrub, you can simply use a gentle washcloth with your daily cleanser, which works just as well to exfoliate the surface of skin as any cosmetic scrub you can buy. As a bonus, washcloths are softer (thus gentler) and of course they don’t contain pore-clogging ingredients that oily, acne-prone skin doesn’t need. With all types of exfoliation comes sun sensitivity, mainly because there are fewer layers of cells as protection so be mindful of using your sunscreen and staying out of the sun while it’s at its strongest.
For daily cleansing I recommend a very gentle cleansing milk, oil or balm that doesn’t strip the skin.
If you are a fan of natural cosmetics or got very sensitive skin, try using pure organic coconut oil as makeup remover.
Another gentle and fabulous option to clean your skin is the Clearisonic.
Use the sensitive skin brush heads, they are the best choice from my experience.
I have the “Mia” which is a travel friendly version and I looooove it.
If you prefer a foaming wash for your face make sure you will buy one without any harsh detergents like SLS or synthetic fragrances.
For makeup junkies and daily foundation wearers I recommend a double cleanse:
Step 1: Removing Makeup with an oil based cleanser. Step 2: Cleanser appropriate for your skin type

Do you need professional help?
Trust your own judgement. Does your skin respond well to your home treatments and is clear and soft most of the time?
Well then keep doing whatever you are doing and invest in good products for your home routine.
Once you turn 30, it is wise to get a professional peel or microdermabrasion (if your skin is not sensitive and thick) treatment every other month to encourage cell turnover and keep your complexion clean, bright and youthful.
With all acids, my recommendation is to make sure you stay under a 25% concentration.
Over the counter products will always be 10% or lower, however if you get a professional facial, request a percentage that is no higher than 25%.
This way you are ensuring a good result without too much irritation.
Stay away from strong, medical peels that reach the dermis, which is the living part of your skin underneath the epidermis.
In my opinion, those types of treatments are too invasive and do more bad than good by causing intense edema [inflammation] of the dermis, which ultimately ages your skin.

Other things to do 6 weeks out:
If you haven’t already done it, this is a good time frame for your hair & makeup trial with your makeup artist and hairstylist for the wedding day.
Schedule in other beauty appointments like your regular cut & color, eyebrow appointments etc.
Get your beauty sleep, eat well, worry less, move more. Be Happy :)

Happy Earth Day! The best fragrance free mineral primers

Happy Earth Day, everyone!
Isn’t this planet truly amazing? I love watching nature & animal documentaries to unwind or simply go for a walk by the beach or in the bush.
I always find this very humbling, and grounding. As if they remind me that I am just a tiny little
being in this huge universe. And sometimes that is very important to remember.
I wish to see a lot more of this wonderful planet and really hope that we will preserve nature
for generations to come.
Living in Sydney, I feel I am surrounded by so much wildlife, the ocean and amazing exotic landscapes everywhere.
Sometimes I just need to step outside and take it all in. In real life.

I think all women with half a brain know that today beauty products don’t have to cost the earth to be effective.
And if you don’t believe me, do your own research :) I personally feel they will long term always give the better results.
I aspire to be a green makeup artist using only the best luxury and natural products.
I am always out discover the latest and best beauty products from around the world and share my experiences with you.
Please note that the below primers all DO contain silcone and are therefore not entirely clean or 100% natural.

I want to sing the praises of some great primers in the natural/green/organic category.
All of these are free of synthetic fragrance, crueltyfree, vegan, and paraben free as well as packed with essential nutrients and the most luxurious botanical ingredients.
I hope you enjoy and give these goodies a go!

Youngblood Mineral Primer
The overall best makeup primer I have ever used. This one is suitable for all skin types.
It’s does everything I could ever ask for.
Minimizes the appearance of pores, smooths fine lines, controls that oily t-zone while still being nourishing and
really helps any foundation to stay in place for longer!
Pro tip: It works as magical makeup eraser when you apply one drop to a cotton bud:
You can correct eyeliner shapes or error without disturbing the makeup! Magic!
It’s also filled with vitamins and natural goodness, and leaves out synthetic fragrances and nasty ingredients.
Win win!

Jane Iredale Smooth Affair

A luxurious makeup base, great for dehydrated or dry or mature skins.
It gives that extra glow and smells divine. I use it underneath my Glow Time BB Creme,
whenever I feel I need a little extra moisture. Perfect for Glow during Summer!

Hourglass No28 Primer Serum
This one is quite different to any other primer I have used.
It is extremely rich and oily. So please don’t try to use this in tropical summer weather or on very oily skin.
This can still be a good product for oily skins, but I guess you are better of with a mattifying product.
It is perfect for extremely and I repeat extremely dry skin, as well for harsh Winter months, when the skin
can’t keep up it’s natural oil production. It’s also great for dry mature skin as it’s made from a cocktail
of potent anti ageing ingredients and therefore really deserves the last name Serum.
My pro tip: You can also use it on cheeks and brows for an glossy, dewy look as seen on current fashion weeks.

Hourglass Veil Primer:
Quite the opposite of the above, this primer is perfect for humid hot days and/or oily skin.
It makes any foundation that is used on top of this water resistant. Perfect for teary brides!
As it has a milky white appearance, it can make very tanned or dark skins appear ashy.
This can be counter acted with the correct makeup, but if you are after a bronzed look or have naturally
dark skin, you might want to try out a sample before you purchase.
While it completely absorbs really nicely and is super lightweight it only works for fair to medium skin tones.
Which is clearly a bummer. I still find it a remarkable product, even if my very own skin get’s to dark in Summer
to use this. It’s also perfect for anyone with redness that wants to even out their skin tone.

While Hourglass products are free of synthetic fragrances, cruelty free and free of many nasty ingredients,
they do not claim to be a 100% natural, green or organic brand, please see ingredients for yourself and
decide if these products are for you.

Today was a simply perfect day! After a Yoga session at home, I started my work day with a beautiful breakfast beauty launch held at Chiswick at the Gallery.
A fantastic new restaurant within the Art Gallery Of NSW.
The occasion was a interesting product launch of Red Earth and Coast To Coast.
Red Earth is relaunch of an Australian makeup & skincare line, while Coast to Coast includes a bath&body range as well as skincare. Both are inspired by natural ingredients.
The presentation and packaging of the products appears premium in many ways and is minimal and chic.
While NOT being certified organic the ranges are not tested on animals and contain a high percentage of active natural and organic ingredients and no artificial colours or fragrances.
It’s certainly not an all natural line, if you are an eco-beauty fan seeking 100% purity and toxin free products these lines are not for you.
There are still plenty of ingredients in this line which are potentially harmful and that I would personally avoid.
If you are after affordable, effective skincare with lovely smells & textures you should give these a try.
The founders believe that good skincare does not have to be expensive, and therefore both ranges sell at a very affordable price point.
The focus is on very active botanicals many of which are sourced in Australia to create potent skin care and makeup products that deliverresults.

Coast to Coast formulations include a host of exceptional native Australian ingredients.
Take Kakadu Plum; native to the northern tip of Australia, it provides the skin with six times the vitamin C of an Orange.
Tasmanian Sea Kelp, from Bass Strait, is a rich source of vitamins A, B, C & E, & contains
nourishing minerals & amino acids. Wild Rosella, Desert Quandong & Sea Parsley also add to the range
of scientifically proven actives chosen based on their merit, rather than aesthetic to visibly replenish & nourish the skin.

While I love the presentation of the brand I am afraid that the mentioning of natural ingredients might mislead consumers to think
this is a toxin free line that is certified organic. Therefore I have to make this clear: Read labels and don’t get fooled by Greenwashing.

Top 5 Summer Skin Favourites

As the hot days are in full swing and we have a few more weeks of Summer left over here in Australia, although, I am pretty optimistic.
Officially Summer will end this week. I am sure the warm weather will continue for a while though, and of course in Europe and many parts of the world,
you will be just preparing yourself for the warm season.
I wanted to share this seasons favourite products with you:

1. After a beach day or day where I have been working on fashion editorial makeup outdoors on location in the sun, nothing repairs and soothes my skin
like Zk’in Hydrating mist, I have even used it on light sunburns on the body. It feels amazing, cools the skin and targets UV-damage, it makes my skin glow instantly.

2. Malin & Goetz Eucalyptus Deodarant, my better half Dave actually got me on to this one, a true unisex product and I am impressed it works throughout the humid days,
without Aluminium, which I have been trying to avoid.

3. La Mav Organic BB Creme, yes I have mentioned this one before. See here for a full review. It’s just been my go-to everyday product.

5. Zk’in Rebalancing Lotion with it’s Matte Effect Active a true saviour on hot days underneath my makeup. Still hydrating enough to keep my skin supple,
it feels light and balancing. (P.S: If this was a top 6 I would totally nominate the Z’kin Brightening & Hydrating Mask an all-rounder mask, that works wonders.
It looks like chocolate and smells like licorice!)
