Holistic Bridal Beauty Prep: Hack For Happiness & Radiance

Don’t we all want to be the best version of ourselves on our wedding day?

Besides getting fit, looking after your skin, getting healthy shiny hair and beautiful nails there is one more element to my bridal beauty prep.
And this is possibly the most important for me: MEDITATION and self care.
I want to feel happy and relaxed on the day, I want to be patient with my family and my partner.
I want to feel comfortable in my skin, I want to be healthy and filled with energy.
Marriage is a new exciting chapter in life and I want to feel ready for it.

In my job I have seen many brides that have burnt themselves out in the lead up to the wedding.
Which so upsetting to see. Brides with severe breakouts, flu, colds, anxiety, stomach issues or anger and emotion overload,
deprived of sleep and feeling anything but beautiful.

Just as important as our beauty routines are our thoughts and beliefs.
We all know that stress can cause breakouts and other problematic skin conditions, therefore it is super important to take time out for little self love rituals along the way.
Take a deep breath and take my advice: You can not afford NOT to do this.
Meditation will change your life for the better. Taking only a few minutes a day it’s the quick fix you have been waiting for.
The benefits are even scientifically proven, just in case you are skeptic.

Benefits for the physical body:

Lowers high blood pressure
Lowers the levels of blood lactate, reducing anxiety attacks
Decreases any tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems
Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behavior
Improves the immune system
Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy

Meditation is probably the easiest and most amazing way to prevent stress from manifesting in your body.
If you have trouble quieting your mind it can be a good idea to exercise prior to meditation.
This is a great way to release tension first so that you can really relax during your quiet time.
Another perfect time is first thing in the morning when you get out of bed.
Meditation truly improves your stress related skin issues and overall helps to find your true and positive self image.

Mental Benefits of Meditation

Anxiety decreases
Emotional stability improves
Creativity increases
Happiness increases
Intuition develops
Gain clarity and peace of mind
Problems become smaller
Meditation sharpens the mind by gaining focus and expands through relaxation
A sharp mind without expansion causes tension, anger and frustration
An expanded consciousness without sharpness can lead to lack of action/progress
The balance of a sharp mind and an expanded consciousness brings perfection

In my freelance schedule it can be tough to take time out for myself, so believe me, I know it is a big commitment when you are busy, but it will serve you and save time
in the long term. I found out that I just simply can’t sign up for any regular classes, as my schedule changes often with very little notice.
I signed up for an online yoga channel, which is genius. I can practice whenever I want, right here in my living room,
which works extremely well for me. They also have great meditations and overall info on their website.
I am sure there are many great similar sites, this is the one we are using: Gaia.
Yes, my man uses it too. :)

If you are happier to join a live class, do a little search in your local area and ask around for recommendations.
There are also some great guided meditations online for free or you can buy some audios by teachers that speak to you.
You can also simply sit in stillness by yourself without any guidance, but most beginners find that a little tricky to start of with.
Have you tried meditation yet? Feel free to share your experience.

One fun weekend this was! At the One Fine Day in Sydney.
While my inbox is overflowing and I am trying my best to get through the wonderful and overwhelming response of the last few days,
I wanted to share a few of my favourite vendors with you.
The One Fine Day girls where one of the very first people I got in touch with when I moved to Sydney and I have been part of the
magical fair right from the humble beginnings at Sun Studios. I can not thank the founders enough, I met so many wonderful people through
this event, even new friendships and of course a lot of business.
Now that we are getting married ourselves, we didn’t only exhibit but were also for the first time on the other side.
We were actually shopping around and locking in some vendors ourselves!

People often ask me which part of my work I enjoy more: wedding makeup or editorial makeup, but to be honest, I can’t quite decide.
I love both and I do both. That’s the short and sweet answer.
Of course all One Fine Day handpicked vendors are great in their own ways, but here are a few that I found are really worth mentioning and recommending to you,
if you are currently planning your own wedding as I had personally amazing experiences with them.

Hello May magazine! Be sure to check out their new “Real Wedding Special” a print book full of the most amazing real weddings.

As a young girl Liv Lundelius often recalls giving fashion styling and makeup advice to her mum and friends who, living in the German country side needed that little bit of extra help and confidence. She has since worked a number of events worldwide such as NYC, Berlin and London Fashion Weeks (pretty impressive!).

Most memorable moment / idea/ experience that you have seen at a wedding you have worked on?
It’s beautiful each and every time to see family, friends and a happy couple all coming together to celebrate love. That in itself is the best idea ever.

Please share your best tip for a couple on their big day.
Be happy & and enjoy every moment of your day. Don’t worry about anything beyond your control, all that matters is that you are getting married to one another.

Just quickly complete the following sentences:

On a Sunday I like to:
Have a wedding booking ;) and otherwise sleep in and go for a nice long breakfast, a walk and some exploring with the camera and my little family.

A secret no- one knows about me:
I have never been homesick.

The one song guaranteed to get me on the dance floor:
Ha, there are so many. A better question would be if there is one song guaranteed to get me OFF the dancefloor ;-)

What can couples expect to see from me at One Fine Day:

Plenty of images of my previous work, a big smile and hopefully some great inspiration for their wedding day.

Come and meet me in person at the One Fine Day Wedding Fair!

Two Fine Days!

It’s been busy!
Last weekend we were part of One Fine Day, the amazing boutique wedding fair in Sydney.
It was the most beautiful little event and I am so happy we were involved.
I don’t know if all of you know what I do for work, but I am a Makeup Artist.
I work in wedding makeup as well as fashion editorials. The weekend started early by preparing the models for the show in the morning.
Managing our little stall all day long for two days was so much fun and also a lot of work.
We met the loveliest people and so many of the other vendors, which you can check out in One Fine Days Directory on their website.
I hope to collaborate with a lot of them soon! Everyone we met was so inspiring and welcoming. It was the best start I could have ever hoped for.
The whole week beforehand we were busy putting everything together, organizing photos, printing postcards and promo material, and putting together little goodies for the brides and designing the stand itself.
With every booking we gave away little samples of my favorite and highly recommended organic herbal tea,
Cleansing Brew” from Tea Medica, which is really purifying and nourishing for the skin.
I had quite some cups, during the stressful preparations. I love that it’s such a small independent company and everything is locally grown and organic.
For the fair I filled the tea into little glass test tubes, which looked to pretty with the colourful tea, full of red rose petals, yellow calendula flowers and green herbs.
The response from the fair has been great, and it took me all week, to reply to the enquiries and bookings. We met so many lovely brides to be and their friends & families, and it makes me very happy to contribute to such an important and beautiful day in their lives.
Thanks to everyone who booked their makeup with me, I am really looking forward to working with all of you.
Dave has been my super hero, helping me out all weekend at the stand, getting coffees for my makeup artist and hairstyling colleagues and preparing the stand. He designed fantastic forms and
print material and all that at night time after he came home from work.
Yes, I am incredibly grateful for this man.
And now I am having one day off, before I start my next six day week. We might go to the beach.
We might catch up on some sleep, for a long time.
Hope you all had a great week!?

Wonderful quotes on marriage

Posted on: Wednesday, February 29, 2012

I am not married myself, but I love the whole philosophy behind it from a yogic point of view. I find it very inspiring.
The following quotes are taken from Yogi Bhajan Lecture Archive

“The one act to perform is for a man and a woman to merge as one.
If from this minute they merge as one, they amalgamate now, they shall succeed.

To make an alloy, you take two elements and put them together. The alloy cannot be separated. You can boil it, you can
form the alloy into a liquid, you can totally burn it, but once it becomes an alloy, it will totally keep its own quality, own
quantity, own weight, own molecules, own electrons, protons and neutrons, and own combination. Whatever made brass
doesn’t matter. Brass has its own faculty, own quality, own weight and own property.

Marriage brings happiness. It’s an amalgamation of two psyches. And when these two psyches are amalgamated, neither one
is an individual. There is no question of he and she. That’s it. There is no loss, there is no gain and there is no bank account.

And that is what love is, that is what marriage is, that is what life is, that is what good luck is. There are no two opinions about
it; when a male and a female merge together. That’s why we do it before God. ”

Do you think you will be a good mum?

image via Lunamag Blog

Someone lately asked me that question.
My answer was: That’s what I ask myself every day.
And it’s true. I don’t know yet if I want to have kids one day.
Not now. That’s for sure.
Right now this topic seems to becoming huge and I do get quite paranoid.
So many blogger ladies, are pregnant right now and some of my friends are as well.
And I have had a weird dreams about pregnant women for a whole week.

I don’t feel it, the whole baby, mum, family, kid thing.
Maybe it will come one day -maybe not.

The older I get the younger I feel.
The more I know about the world and life the more I realize how much I don’t know.
It is getting more complicated, so the only way to handle that is to simplify things.
I don’t feel very grown up at this point, and I know I did a few years ago.

If that sounds confusing to you, you get an idea about how much it confuses me.
I have always been pretty impatient and I can’t see my own progress because life feels to slow.
At the same time it is running way to fast, so fast, that I can’t fit everything in that is important to me.
And most days the “To-Do-List” is way too long.

That makes me think I am not really wise yet.
Not to mention the financial part, of having started a business before I even paid off my student loan.

How do you feel about having kids?

you-are-love2

Recently someone said something nice about marriages that I strongly agree with:

I LOVE THE CONCEPT- THE IDEA THAT YOU COMMIT TO SOMEONE AND HAVE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A BEST MATE WHERE YOU GO THROUGH THINGS TOGETHER AND IT GETS BETTER AND STRONGER.

Celia as well introduced herself on her blog by saying she recently married her best friend.
Lover and Best Friend in one person?
-Sounds like the right one to marry.
