The Power Of Paw Paw And Why Your Skin Needs It

Paw Paw Moisturizer Organic Skincare Review Natural Beauty Expert Sydney

WE HAVE MOVED! PLEASE MOVE OVER TO OUR NEW BLOG: LIV LIFE MAG !

Have you tried Paw Paw before?
Paw Paw is another name for Papaya, the tropical fruit. It’s not only incredibly healthy when you eat it, it also has very powerful skin healing properties.

The Powers Of Paw Paw:

1. Power: Wound healing & Repairing
Papaya has been studied extensively for its wound healing benefits. The papain enzyme helps in healing but also keeps the bacteria away and prevents the scar from getting bigger.

2nd Power: Anti-Aging
Papain enzyme can reduce wrinkles by modulating the collagen and elastic fibers in the dermis.

3rd Power: Nourish
Papaya fruit provides hydration and nutrition to the skin.
Papaya not only repairs damaged skin but your body as a whole with the help of anti-oxidants like Flavanoids, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, etc.

Look For Organic
Chances are you have tried Paw Paw ointments before, probably as a lip balm to soothe your dry or cracked lips. I used to always have it as a staple in my makeup kit to prep lips prior to lipstick application.
The bummer is that most conventional Paw Paw balms are petrochemical based. Within the last years, however, there has been a greater number of organic and pure varieties.

I love that they are such a great all round product, super versatile and Paw Paw ointments really heal skin in record time.
Natralus is an Australian natural skincare brand that specializes in Paw Paw products, besides their amazing classic Paw Paw Ointment they have a whole range of natural goodies.
I have recently tried the new range of lip butter over here at Consume With Care.
And they are a real winner.

Paw Paw Moisturiser
Ointments aside, I really wanted to share my experience with the new
Natralus Paw Paw 95% Pure Moisturiser:
I was really surprised how this is so light weight. It really is like a lotion and it instantly absorbs into the skin, no stickiness or oiliness at all.
It smells divine too! I use it on my body and love that I can get dressed straight away. It’s gentle enough to be used on the face as well and suitable for sensitive skins.
I decked myself out in it and have some in my makeup kit, some in my handbag and some in the bathroom. They come in three different sizes.
Packed with organic ingredients I couldn’t find any reason not to slather myself in it, then I realized it contains:
Phenoxyethanol as preservative! Booooo! Many natural brands use this ingredient instead of parabens, but it has gotten some bad press, and it is fairly questionable.
I try to avoid this ingredient in my beauty products, but I also understand that it is often difficult for companies to find a suitable preservative for certain formulas.
Do your own research on the ingredient. Personally, I think if a brand uses overall a very clean and natural formulation it’s acceptable.
The Paw Paw Moisturiser is naturally free from petrochemicals, petroleum jelly, parabens, silicones, mineral oil, and artificial fragrance and colour.
Most Natralus products don’t contain this phenoxyethanol as a preservative. Go for their classic ointments and other beautiful products instead, if you prefer.
Always read the label!
It’s called 95% pure moisturizer because it’s actually 95% pure, active ingredients like Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and Organic Paw Paw. Did you know most moisturizers are based on water? Usually, the first ingredient on the list is water, often labeled as “aqua” . This one proudly shows Aloe Vera on top of the list. Basically, you are getting more bang for your buck here.
Pure hydration!

Jane Iredale Skin Is In Review Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert
bridal-hair-piece-3 2
Makeup By Liv Lundelius using Jane Iredale, for Bride La Boheme, Photography by Lana Ivanova

Jane Iredeale got it right! The new collection is all about the No Makeup Look, which I LOVE.
There is a new PureGloss colour called “White Tea” which is a sheer nude browny/beige colour, I love it, especially on medium to darker skin tones or summer bronzed skin.
“Flawless” colour blush, which has a very lovely neutral shade, just enough colour to give your cheeks that healthy flush without looking like you are wearing blush.
It’s also a matte colour, so it’s undetactable, no shimmer, no sheen. Quite a nice change after all the gloss and shimmer we have seen for years now.
(nothing wrong with it if you like shimmer and dewyness, I love it too and you can always add highlight!)
The Eyebrow Kit has had a revamp and is now called GreatShape and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, it’s my favourite brow product which I use on myself every day and it’s the staple product in my pro makeup kit as well.
The Limited Edition Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit, is a real winner, with 5 (!) neutral and very wearable shades all completely matte. Jane Iredales matte shdows are never chalky though, they are richly pigmented and glide on very beautifully. It comes as a mirrored compact, which is very nice and flat, so perfect for carrying in your makeup bag.

It’s your no nonsense, quality basics kinda collection. Think Capsule Wardrobe for Makeup.
Good quality basics that you can actually wear day to day and that go with everything.
Well done Jane Iredale!

For the look above I have used:
Smooth Affair Primer, Dreamtint Tinted Moisturizer with Pure Pressed Powder, Great Shape Eyebrow Kit, Longest Lash Mascara, Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit, Brown Jelly Jar Eyeliner, Yummy Play On Lip Crayon, Moonglow highlighter (the lightest shade)

Aromaflage – Fragrance & Mosquito Repellent

Posted on: Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Aromaflage fragrance Review Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert

The thought of spending my wedding and honeymoon covered in toxic, smelly deet mosquito repellent wasn’t really one that got me excited.
Yet with a Summer outdoor wedding and honeymoon in Bali (incl. dangers of Dengue fever etc.) I thought there was not much choice.
Mosquitos also REALLY love me, they smell me from far and I am in trouble.

If you are anything like me or you like traveling to South East Asia try Aromaflage.
I love the concept so much, it’s a beautifully designed fragrance in a luxurious bottle.
Actually there are two fragrances. Aromaflage and Aromaflage Wild.

They are all natural fragrance free of phtlates, parabens or any other nasties, yet they are as far as you can imagine from smelly citronella candles.
I would actually wear mine as fragrance even inside, it’s quite delicious.
Of course smell is very subjective and we all ike different fragrances, this one however is pleasant and not offensive in any way.
To repel mosquitos successfully you need to apply it liberally on arms and legs, which you won’t do with a regular fragrance, so you will go through this much quicker.
I also recommend trying a sample to make sure you don’t get an allergic reaction. Although it’s all natural it is yet very potent and concentrated and there is always the possibility to be sensitive.
This year there are also endless annoying flies in my area whenever I take my little Dog, Dalston, for a walk they are just everywhere.
I have been wearing just a little spritz of my aromaflage in the mornings and it also kept all the bugs away. And it does really work to repel mosquitoes!

Aromaflage Review Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert

I am even more thrilled that the packaging is so beautiful and gold, (if you know me you know that I have a thing for all things white & gold)
After trying the small size, I will definitely get myself and the future Mr. a full size bottle.
This Summer I am prepared and I can smell nice on honeymoon too!

Green Beauty Brand Profile: Jane Iredale

Posted on: Wednesday, September 23, 2015

If you follow my Instagram you may noticed that I frequently use Jane Iredale products on set in my professional makeup kit.
I have written about some products in the range and reviewed some here and there, but I thought I give you a bit more background info about this brand.
I am quite picky when it comes to the selection of my makeup kit. The products really need to perform, last and also be suitable for a variety of skin types while keeping the allergy risk to a minimum.
Therefore I select pure products that soothe and calm the skin and are less likely to cause irritation.

Ethical
Jane Iredale products do exactly that! They are also certified cruelty free, which is VERY important to me personally.
Free of parabens, synthetic fragrance and other nasties they are a good choice for my green makeup kit. These products are mineral based and contain organic and natural extracts.
Coverage, application and texture are incredible. The Vitamins and antioxidants in the formulas are pharmaceutical grade and certified organic where available.

Performance
The best thing about Jane Iredale makeup from a pro perspective is the longevity: Even in very humid conditions and on long days this makeup lasts and lasts and lasts…. All the pressed products are also unable to hold bacteria as they are inert. This makes sure everything stays nice and clean and no germs get into the makeup onto your skin. A real plus for a professional makeup kit and your skin.
Jane Iredale is still family owned business by the founder Jane Iredale herself. She only produces high quality products and has a high ethical standard.

The difference
I have tried mineral makeup before and to say that I did not like it would be an understatement.
I found most mineral makeup to have a bad and limited colour selection, messy application, a flat, chalky and uneven finish, looking aging on the skin, emphasizing pores and dryness…
to sum it up: A total mess that I would never use personally or professionally.
The other confusing thing about mineral makeup is that not all minerals are safe or clean at all. Minerals can be polluted with harmful heavy metals or contain drying or harmful minerals
such as Talc or Bismuth Oxychloride.
That’s why I stayed clear of mineral makeup for years. Until I discovered Jane Iredale. Finally a brand offered intensive testing of the minerals used, ensuring safety & purity and at last performance!!! This makeup looks and feels good on the skin.

Natural?
Jane Iredale chooses to use silicones in their products for performance and improved texture. The chosen ones are never contamined with potentially harmful substances and considered safe. As mentioned before this brand has very strict testing of all their products and ingredients used.
Jane Iredeale chooses to do these tests, they are not required by law to do this. That is the real difference in quality that you get with this makeup.
While most other brands in my kit are 100% organic or 100% natural, Jane Iredale is not. There are certain synthetic ingredients used, however only if they are truly considered safe and non toxic. So I am happy to confirm that all products in my kit are cruelty-free and toxin free! Most natural beauty lovers use and love Jane Iredale, while others find it not natural enough.
I think everyone has to do their own research. I have had the chance to attend some training with this brand and researched a lot to clear up any misconceptions. In my opinion it’s a fabulous brand, that is also very upfront about it’s certifications and ingredients. They certainly meet my personal and ethical standards.
It does not green wash or use any misleading terms, yet is a brand that seems to truly care about it’s products, the environment and it’s clients.

Every Brides Dream
And boy, does this makeup work for brides! So many of my clients have emailed me with raving reviews saying they didn’t need to touch up their makeup and when they were dancing wild at the reception everything was still in place. Of course there is more to long wearing makeup than products alone (e.g. pro application, skin prep etc). I think that Jane Iredale products play a BIG role in the longevity of wedding makeup.

My new ambassador role
As professional and independent artist I will always use a variety of brands in my kit and take advantage of the freedom to pick and choose the best products available.
I have chosen to be ambassador for Jane Iredale, this fabulous brand! In my pro kit I am using a huge percentage of these wonderful products!
I can proudly say that I love to support this brand. I really hope you love it too!

I will follow up with a few looks where and how I have used these fab products on my latest work and editorials.

Gressa – a revolution in skincare, makeup & love

Gressa Minimalist Foundation Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert
You might have heard about Gressa already, I have mentioned it on Instagram before and also recently
included it in my list of favourite brands over here at Consume With Care.

Gressa is something else. Now I have heard of serum foundations and makeup that is good for the skin many times, yet Gressa actually lives up to this promise.
The formulas are squeaky clean and free of synthetic chemicals, yet so glamourous and luxurious.
It’s a brand that thinks outside the box. Certified organic using purest quality ingredients the formulas and textures are different to other brands, Gressa truly reinvents makeup.
Or should I say skincare? Most products are both. A real treatment for the skin delivering colour. And the actual skincare is so potent that again, you don’t even need much makeup anymore.
Founder and natural beauty Svetlana herself is the best proof that this line delivers healthy glowing skin.
She has a admirable minimalist approach to skincare, really showing that less is more, to keep your skin healthy.

I discovered the brand a little while ago and have been experimenting with it. It’s so gorgeous I really wanted to take time before reviewing it, although I was impressed right from the start.
Finally I have received the correct shade of Minimalist foundation for myself and have been wearing it everyday. And what can I say?
This foundation works different to all others I have used, everyday it seems I need to use less and less of it, as my skin heals and becomes more and more even and healthy. It’s a little bit amazing. I have been using the products on photo shoots and they work a treat in front of the camera, yet I feel they are perfect for everyday wear and your personal beauty regime at home.
Let me tell you in more detail about the products, before I get too carried away:

Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation:
The Minimalist foundation comes in a dark glass bottle with dropper! Say what? Yes that’s right.
The texture is truly that of an liquid skin serum. It says on the box that it is like a multivitamin for your skin. Checking out the ingredient list, this is absolutely true:
It’s a cocktail of organic botanical oils and extracts all chosen for their skin care benefits, no fillers here!
Minimalist foundation also contains a unique blend of herbal extracts helping the skin to heal.

Application:
Only 4 drops are enough to give a light even coverage all over the face.
This no fuss treatment can be applied with fingers, or buffed with a foundation brush. It’s important to shake the bottle beforehand!
When I started using it my skin had a few blemishes and scarring, so I used a little more products, applying with hands and then
blending it with a fluffy foundation brush to make it even.

Finish:
The finish is glowing but not oily/dewy, the liquid serum sets to a powder, yet the finish is not powdery or matte.
It’s just perfect. It looks like healthy skin! Reflecting the light and looking radiant without being shimmery yet giving the skin a velvety appearance.
Does this even make sense? The coverage is medium, it can be applied very lightly for a more sheer result and layers well for more coverage also.

Feel:
The foundation glides on very smoothly and has an extremely lightweight feel on the skin. It almost feels like the skin is bare after application.

Skintype:
This foundation great is for all skin types. If your skin is extremely dry or flaky, it might show off dry areas. (but hey, no foundation can really deal with very dry skin)
At the same time is remains radiant and my t-zone will show oil after a few hours. My skin is combination: Can be dry around cheeks and nose, oily in the t-zone.
It’s so lightweight that I think even oily skin would love it, and it is so smooth that I can also see it work on mature skin very well.

Colourmatch:
Gressa offers an online colour match based on a photo. The foundation currently comes in 11 shades, so most skin tones will find a perfect match.

Minimalist Contouring Serum Bronzer:
The bronzer comes in the same packaging and texture as the Minimalist Foundation. It’s only one shade, which a very rich, dark and olive colour.
This makes it perfect for contouring, as the colour is not orange or shimmery at all. Like the other liquid products in the Gressa range, this is very concentrated.
Start with a drop and will it go a long way.

Ilumminator:
The Minimalist Illuminating Serum can be mixed with your foundation or used as highlighter over the top.
It is very concentrated, so you only need a small amount of 1-2 drops. The colour is pinkish pearlized, making it perfect for fair to medium complexions.

Lip Boost:
Contained in a pretty little glass jar the Lip Boost is a highly pigmented tinted balm, leaving the lips with a beautiful stain.
I have tried Aux Rouge and Lavish and I might have to get the other shades too. Aux rouge seems like the perfect red for everyone.
You can wear these sheer or build the pigment up to a more opaque finish.

Purifying Mist:
The Purifying Mist is a toner that balances & soothes both your skin and mind. A pure rose mist, which was on stand by on my desk for as long as it lasted.
Love the refreshing smell of pure rose. And this is all it is: Pure certified organic rose water.
Gressa also has the best selling Neroli toner, I will have to try this one as well….

Purifying Oil:
Purifying Oil is a very lightweight oil suitable for all skin types. An excellent blend of organic natural oils featuring:
Immortelle, Rose Hip and Jojoba Oils among others.

There are many more products by Gressa which I haven’t tried yet check out the website to see the full product range.

Spring Skin – Fresh and radiant

la mav sweet orange cleanser review liv lundelius sydney natural beauty expert green makeup artist sydney

I can’t tell you how excited I am for Spring! I have seen the first beautiful blossoms blooming, here in my street and they make me smile every time I walk past.
I already told you how I got my body glowing in time for Spring, now it’s time for the face!

The warmer temperatures will also have an affect on your skin. All dry skin sufferers will welcome the warm weather, while for those of you with oily skin the battle with shine and congestion will start once again. Everyone will benefit from exfoliation at this time of year.

My own skin already started showing a shiny t-zone throughout the days this week, along with a little congestion: Two signs reminding me to adjust my makeup and skincare routine!
I am switching over to a new cleanser, incorporate a cleansing mask twice a week and switch to a clarifying toner. Perfect timing to review the La Mav Purify and Clean range. My skin is combination and it does change with the seasons. I have also lately been prone to breakouts and congestion, so I feel the need to change my routine. (of course there are many reasons for this and nutrition, stress levels, sleep etc. play a big role in break outs!)

Spring Cleanse
If you have read my general advice, I am always preaching about very gentle cleansers and I love oil cleansing myself,
more about that soon!
Yet sometimes I feel the need for a no fuss cleanse! The La Mav Sweet Orange Foaming Cleanser is just that and much more :) It has wonderful anti aging properties, which makes it perfect for adult acne,
or congested skin in your 30s and beyond. I really love how this cleanser doesn’t dry, yet really balances my skin. The smell is very mild and pleasant.
Bilberry extract along with Sugar Cane extract helps purify, cleanse and exfoliate the outer layer of the skin encouraging cell turnover and strengthening the surface of the skin as well as refines and unclogs pores.
My skin feels refreshed and supple afterwards. The cleanser has a liquid gel texture (which reminds me of Cetaphil for those of you who know it, yet Cetaphil is of course NOT natural and includes too many questionable ingredients for my liking!) La Mav of course is all organic and packed with beneficial toxin free ingredients! This cleanser also removes makeup with ease. It’s basically perfect!

Spring Tone
The Purifying Toner is another one that a fantastic anti aging product while balancing oil and preventing congestion!
La Mav knows their stuff and really developed a great range for oily skin, beyond teenage years.
This toner refines the pores and assists in maintaining the skin’s natural pH balance. Basically: Making oily/combination super happy without drying.
Formulated with Melissa water and Bilberry extract to tighten and firm, this toner delivers clean, smooth skin. Yay!

Spring Detox
The Green Clay Detox Mask is recommended to be used every other day (I have been using it twice a week, to to a busy schedule!)
Yet I found the results great! The mask comes out very smooth and is easy to use unlike many other messy clay masks that I have tried.
Due to the green clay it has a light green colour, which looks very healthy to me. The combination of white and green clay helps to absorb impurities and control excess oil.
Fruit acids and extracts exfoliate to reveal plump skin and reduce the appearance of pore size, while Marula Oil hydrates and protects the skin.
It’s an award winning mask that does what it says.

La Mav Tamanu Oil Review Adult Acne Tips Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert
Spring recover
Did you read my introduction post on oils? There is a little miracle worker, I haven’t mentioned yet: Tamanu Oil!
It has very healing properties and is known as amazing treatment for acne scars and sunburns.
I have been using it on scars and am amazed about how powerful it is.
I even started using it on a scar on my foot, which stems from an accident 2 years ago and it has faded the darkness and softened
the skin immensely. Apart from it anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, Tamanu oil promotes new tissue formation, accelerates wound healing and stimulates cell division (more new cells = healthier skin). You can use it as main ingredient in DIY face masks or as nightly restorative skin treatment I highly recommend having a bottle of this miracle elixir, especially if you wish to brighten and heal acne scars.

Weleda skincare Review Liv Lundelius Green Beauty Expert

The nights are still pretty chilly over here and having worked some late nights lately as well as doing quite some intense yoga sessions, my muscles were in need of a soak and massage.

I haven’t even used our bath tub since we moved into our apartment almost a year ago.
When I lived in Berlin years ago the bathtub was the place to find me on days off and cold winter nights.
I almost forgot how good it feels to have a bath!
While the bathtub brings back memories I stepped even further down memory lane by using a beautiful
Weleda bath milk. Weleda is one of the brands my hippie parents used when I was little and that I have adored all my life.
It’s the go to green beauty brand for everyday essentials.
We lived in Germany and my Mum who is a Naturopath has always been into organic and green beauty products.
Weleda has just brought out a new Arnica Muscle Soak, that called my name.
It actually smells of an Swedish Sauna to me, which must be due to the birch, rosemary and lavender used.
Where I grew up in Northern Europe saunas are very popular and are part of our culture.
By the way:
Did you know we recently visited Northern Germany, Denmark & Sweden?
If you are interested in Scandinavia and our adventures check out our personal blog here.
It’s our personal project about happiness, photography and travel but mostly all the small things that make life so wonderful.

But back to my wonderful bath experience: I feel bathtime is one of these special pampering times that are so important for self care, just like meditation or exercise.
I think I will continue to have baths until Spring arrives! I soaked for a little while in the warm water before bed and had my bed already warmed up with hot water bottles.
I can’t even remember a thing, I passed out as soon as I snuggled up. Highly recommended!

Skin Food” is another hero product by Weleda a healing intensely moisturizing balm, soooooo good for feet, elbows or dry hands!
It’s one of these cult beauty products that has had no reason to change formula since 1926. It has a huge celebrity following as well and is a staple in many professional makeup kits, including my own, especially during the Winter months. Free from parabens, artificial preservatives, colours and fragrances. Skin Food is not tested on animals and is suitable for vegetarians. (this one is not vegan it does contain lanolin)

Weleda is one of the brands that takes green beauty to the next level, they grow most their ingredients in their own biodynamic organic gardens.
Exotic ingredients they usually buy from sustainable fair trade projects, ensuring there are no sprays or pesticides used.
This way they ensure that they are able to use only the highest quality ingredients while making sure they are sourced in a way that is ethically, socially and environmentally responsible.
Extra green smoothie points from me there ;)

How To Find The Right Oil For Your Skin Type

Posted on: Tuesday, August 11, 2015

trilogy oil review Liv Lundelius Organic Makeup Artist Sydney

Why do some people swear by using pure oils on their skin, while others try to stay clear of oils completely after bad break out experience? Why are oils all the craze right now and how to know which one to use? If you are a beauty nerd and love to know more details read on. If you are just after a quick What-product-to-buy-guide, scroll down toward the end of this post :)

What’s in an oil?
It’s important to realize that all natural carrier oils have a different composition of fatty acids,
making them suitable for some skin types and purposes, yet not for others.
All oils contain a different percentage of Oleic Acid and Linoeic Acid.
Many skincare brands combine different pure oils to get the right balance and a variety of benefits.

Why oils are better than creams, lotions & co
Moisturizing your skin with certified organic plant oils is possibly the best thing you can do for your skin.
Pure plant oils provide moisture and nutrients to your skin without any fillers or aggressive preservatives. Water is usually the first ingredient on the list and therefore contained in the highest percentage in your moisturizer, due to the high water content moisturizers and creams will always require preservatives while pure oils don’t. You basically get more bang for your buck and higher quality as water is nothing more that cheap filler. Plant oils are very versatile and can help to balance oily skin with over active oil glands while moisturizing the very dry skin.

How to find the right oil for my skin?
Below is a guideline on which oils commonly work the best for the different skin types.
You might have to experiment to find the oil that works best for your skin.
If your skin absorbs the oily quickly and nicely, not leaving it shiny,
but rather supple, moisturized and healthy it’s right for you!
You want the oil to absorb, without leaving any residue behind.

Dry Skin
In a nutshell: Oils that are high in Oleic Acid are best for dry skin.
These oils very rich and nourishing and feel oily on the skin.
Some of the best oils for dry skin are:
Macadamia Oil
Avocado Oil
Almond Oil
Apricot Kernel Oil
Sea Buckthorn Oil
More balanced oils that can also work well for dry skin:
Jojoba Oil
Flaxseed Oil
Argan Oil
Coconut Oil (Unrefined)
Coconut Oil (Refined)

Combo/Oily Skin
Oils that are high in Linoleic Acid are best for oily/acne prone skin.
These oils are light and help to reduce clogged pores.
For example:
Safflower Oil
Black Cumin Seed Oil
Hemp Seed Oil
Evening Primrose Oil
Pumpkin Seed Oil
Rosehip Seed Oil
Grape Seed Oil
Soybean Oil
These are well balanced oils also good for oily/acne prone skin:
Jojoba Oil
Pomegranate Oil
Sesame Oil

Extremely Dry Skins
If you are very very dry or live in a very cold climate, your skin might ask
for something more. In this care try Coconut Oil or Plant Butters (e.g. Shea-, Cocoa- or Mangobutter), which are also amazing for the body.
These oils are high in Palmitic Acid and not recommended for acne prone skin.

Look For Quality & Keep it Cool
It’s important to look for certified organic oils of best quality.
If you use an oil that is high in Linoleic Acid, it’s best to keep it in the fridge,
as they tend to go off very quickly otherwise.

How To Apply
Usually only a few drops are needed and oils are best applied on damp skin. I love spraying my face with some hydrating mist before applying oil. The right can be used morning and night instead of moisturizer.

Great for ageing skin, dry skin and adult acne.

It is enriched with Anitoxidants and a unique “Glycablend” of oils to combat the ageing process in the skin, called glycation. It also contains Tamanu Oil, which is known to have very healing effect on the skin.

Gressa Purifying Oil: The name says it all, this blend of oils is suitable for oily and acne prone skins.
With it’s base of Jojoba and Rosehip oil it’s high in Linoleic Acid, Macadamia Oil adds moisture and balances all skin types.
It diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, restores skin elasticity, soothes and balances troubled skin, and fades discolorations.
Ideal for all skin types.

La Mav Antioxidant Rich Nightly Repair Nectar
According to La Mav great for dry, mature and sensitive skin. Based on Rosehip, Jojoba and Apricot Kernel Oil, it’s a well balanced oil that should work for all but oily skins.

Some other great Indie Brands that make high quality oils, according to skin type are BLOOM & Mi Skin Organics.

There is so much to know about oils and if you are interested, please research and read even more about them. I tried my best to really simplify all the facts into a compact useful post.

Strobing – A tutorial And Best Products

Posted on: Monday, August 3, 2015

best products for strobing best highlighters pro makeup artist

Strobing seems to be the latest craze. The reality is far from it:
Pro Makeup Artists have been using this technique forever!
Just without anyone knowing. With the abundance of beauty youtubers, bloggers & instagrammers everyone seems to be in the know,
trying out and experimenting with professional makeup techniques.

What is Strobing?
It is a highlighting technique that can be used together with contouring or on it’s own.
It’s way more foolproof than contouring and the effect is also very suitable for day time makeup looks.
Strobing can be done quickly and is an easy technique, which is probably another reason why it’s so popular.

How does it work?
You simply need to apply highlighting products to the highest points of your cheek bones and along the nose,
as well as in the corner of the eyes and on the cupids bow of your lips.
Highlight only what you really want to emphasize, because you will draw attention and light to the highlighted areas.
Cream and liquid highlighters usually work best and are most popular. However if you want more longevity or have
naturally oily skin you can also try to use powder highlight.

Mistakes To Avoid
You need to find a highlighter that works with your skin tone.
Avoid icy pink shades if your skin is medium or tan in colour or if you want to do for a bronzed look.
The cool and frosted shades work best on fair and light complexions.
Golden highlighters looks best on yellow toned skin with a light tan.
You want the shimmer to look believable.
Use a matte bronzer and blush to make sure you don’t sparkle all over.
The effect only works if there is a difference between the highlighted and not highlighted areas.

Which products work best?

The RMS Living Luminizer is a professional makeup artist favourite.
This one is not too sparkly and leaves the skin slightly glossy, like all rms products, it comes as cream in a glass jar
It has a very soft champagne tone it is subtle and sheer and adapts to most skin tones.

A great one that comes with a little bit of colour and is suited for medium to tan yellow tones
is Jane Iredale In Touch Highlighter
It has a warm peach colour that works best as blush highlight combo for the cheeks or warmer skin tones.

A gorgeous golden and strong highlight is the Au Naturale Organic Creme Highlighter which comes in a stick.

A powerful powder highlight is Adore Loose Illuminiser that comes as a loose powder.
This one looks especially great on fair skins.

Gressa Skin has a wonderful liquid highlighter, the Minimalist Illuminating Face Serum which works great on all skin types, including oily skin or skin prone to breakouts, as it contains unique botanical oils and are balancing to the skin.

Find a well lit mirror. Duh! ;)
Prep:
1.Exfoliate your skin, any bumps will stand out even more on highlighted skin, so make sure you prep your skin well.
2.Hydration is a must for any makeup look, especially for dewy and radiant looks.
3.You can also use a hydrating primer if you like. This will help to smooth open pores and make your skin look more flawless.
I like Smooth Affair Primer by Jane Iredale.
Conceal:
Apply your base, be it just a light tinted moisturizer or a full cover foundation according to your needs.
(Caution: If you use powder foundation a powder highlight might sit better on top than a liquid product.)
Use concealer to hide any blemishes or redness.(you can also apply your blush and contour now if you wish)
While in dewy editorial looks a radiant dewy base can be combined with strong highlighting, I recommend keeping the balance
for everyday wear, wearing a more natural looking not too dewy base and a subtle highlight, to avoid looking too shiny, oily or sparkly like a discoball.
For more mature skin you can achieve strobing with satin finish products that provide a sheen, rather then sparkles.
Highlight:
Apply your highlighter of choice: On top of the cheekbones using fingers or blending brush, along the bridge of the nose and on the cupids bow of your lip.
A little highlight in the inner corners of the eye also looks lovely, and will open the eyes, making them appear to me wider set.
Avoid highlighting areas with blemishes or areas that you don’t want to draw too much attention to.

Vapour Organic: Luxury Makeup

Posted on: Monday, July 20, 2015

vapour beauty organic makeup review liv lundelius green makeup artist natural beauty expert

You might have noticed a few raving reviews on here lately!
As I like to feature brands that I personally like to use, I usually feature only my very fav’s up here on the blog.
Just in case you were wondering… it’s not that I am not critical enough!
It’s rather that every product that makes it on here, has already been carefully selected :)
I like to keep things positive and all the products or brands featured are the ones that I really like and that stand out to me.
As Organic Makeup Artist I am so passionate about companies that get it all right.

I have recently already talked a little about Vapour over here and named a few faves.
This brand has previously already received tremendous love from Vogue beauty editors, so I am certainly not the first to discover this
outstanding organic luxury makeup brand.
Well deserved. The textures and finishes are simply beautiful and up to the highest luxury makeup standards and yet they manage to stay clear from harmful toxins.
If you didn’t believe that organic makeup works until now (which is of course sooooo wrong!!!) this brand will instantly change your mind:
Trust me! Besides that they just got the whole sustainable thing right, the products are produced with windpower and of course they are certified crueltyfree. These guys just got it all.
Okay, before I keep raving I better give you some more details about the products:

And now a little more detail about the products:
Atmosphere Luminous Foundation
If you like dewy skin you will love Atmosphere Luminous Foundation.
It comes in a stick, which is a little different, especially if you are used to liquid foundations.
It super handy though, doesn’t take up much space in your cosmetic bag and it travels so well, without the danger of spilling and leaking.
The packaging is beautiful and the twist mechanism is properly worked out and easy to use.
I warm the end of the stick on the back of my hand, before apply a few streaks across my face. Paying the most attention to areas with redness.
Next I use my fingers to blend the product. It moves very smoothly on the skin.
The scent is fresh and barely noticeable. The finish is what it promises: Luminous!
You won’t need much product: If used correctly, your skin will glow, but not shine; if there is shine, you have over-applied.
Try to use concealer where you are seeking extra coverage, rather than overusing the foundation of problem areas.
Of course if you are after a matte finish, have oily skin or want and all day lasting finish: This is not the foundation for you!
About the colour and shades: They got the shades spot on with a variety of natural and yellow toned foundations from very fair skin to very dark skin,
with 12 shades to choose from Vapour covers a way larger range than most other organic ranges, which is fabulous.
On normal to dry skin, this wears beautifully and it’s very silky. My skin still feels moisturized after the end of a long day in this Winter weather.
The current Sydney Winter feels pretty cold and endless to me and my skin has become a lot drier. My summer go-to foundations
simply don’t do the trick in this weather and with all the heating. Vapour Atmosphere Luminous Foundation keeps my skin hydrated and doesn’t show up dry areas unlike most other foundations.
It’s a dry skin saviour! I also combine it with Stratus for some extra glow and smooth the skin.

I have heard only the best about the liquid sister Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation , which is supposed to be better suited for combination skin.
I can’t wait to order myself this one as well, so far I have not yet used it professionally.

Stratus Instant Skin Perfector
Again this product comes in stick form or as liquid, depending on skin type.
The stick is best to be used with the stick foundation on drier skin, the liquid goes with the liquid foundation on combination to oilier skin types.
I used the stick and again think that’s so practical and easy to use.
It’s a colour correcting makeup primer with the same silky texture as found in the foundation.
It comes in 3 different shades to balance different skin tones, but the product itself has no colour.
I warm the stick on the back of my hand and then apply were extra glow is desired and on areas that need smoothing, due to larger pores or fine lines.
This magical stick perfects the skin and can be used on it’s own, if you are after a very natural look and if you have already even beautiful skin.
It’s very moisturizing and has light reflecting properties which help to blur any imperfections.

Mesmerize Eye Colours
Smolder & Embrace make the perfect soft smokey eye on the go, super fast blended with fingers, the Mesmerize Cream Eye Colours are very beautiful.
Best suited for people with dry eyelids or can also be used as base with your favourite mineral eye shadow powder over the top for extra longevity.
On myself they won’t last on their own due to my oily eyelids, but I still like to use a light colour to highlight the inner corners of my eyes.

Aura Multi Use Blush
The Aura Multi Use Blush is an easy to blend blush stick,
that can also be used on eyes and lips. I love it the most as blush. My eyelids can be to oily for the product to stay put, on my cheeks however it lasts and lasts and lasts…
On shoots it’s brilliant and very pretty on eyes.
The perfect bridal blush or every day work day blush! No brushes needed, it transforms into a silky texture that goes on easily with fingers.
I love the colour “Spark” which is a very healthy warm tone. Of course you can blend it with a brush as well. Hooked!

I am currently using Vapour on set a lot, so I will also update you with some professional photos of makeup looks I have created with these products.

The Truth In Anti Aging: My Top Natural Miracle Workers

Posted on: Thursday, June 11, 2015

La Mav Anti Ageing Review Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert Green Makeup Artist Sydney

Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert Intelligent Nutrients Review
Changing Skin: We all want to look our best at any age and are dreaming of healthy happy skin, it’s all about ageing gracefully and feeling comfortable in your skin.
Our skin changes with age in many ways, it becomes thinner, we loose voloume and and lines&wrinkles will start to show up.
It’s important to support and love your skin, so it can look it’s best and stay young.
Our body is quite a miracle worker. Every organ has multiple functions and if you are in good health they will all work together.
It’s a perfect yet delicate system. I think it’s most important to love the skin you are in.
It sounds like a cliche that confident happy women are always the most beautiful, I however believe this.
There is nothing more stunning and captivating as someone living their purpose, laughing from the heart and radiating that glow from within.
Don’t we all know someone like that?

Detox To Retox: It’s easy to get carried away with anti-aging treatments and procedures as well as cosmetics. The myth is that all this will make your
skin look young forever while natural products don’t work. The truth is quite the opposite.
This can easily backfire. Regular chemical peels or invasive aggressive procedure will actually cause to age the skin pre-maturely.
Just as too much sun does. No one really knows the long term effects of injectible cosmetics yet, so proceed with caution.
Take it this way: If you stress your skin out and are constantly attacking it with harsh products, it will actually get upset with you.
Not the right way to get that youthful glow you were after in the first place! It’s time to detox your beauty bag and retox it with truly valuable
powerful and healthy that beauty products.

Tata Harper Eye Cream Review Liv Lundelius

Skin Support: So how do you support your 30+ skin to keep it youthful? The answer is to work with your body and not against it.
One key ingredient are anti oxidants, they protect your skin from all sorts of stress so that it can function properly and won’t age prematurely.
It’s important to include super-foods which are high in antioxidants in your diet, but they are also a very powerful and natural anti-aging skin care ingredient.

And stay clear of refined sugar! Consuming sugary foods will damage the collagen in your skin, causing it to age prematurely.
Your skin will look it’s best when your body is healthy, that is a fact. Yet we always try and cheat our way around it with new technologies and synthetics.
The other important idea to keep in mind is to stay clear of ingredients that are harmful or potentially harmful to your body. Quick fixes won’t cut it for your skin long term.
Start with makeing better choices and establish a simple routine to get that youthful glow.
I could write a book about this (note to self: maybe I should?) but won’t bore you with more facts for now.
Instead I picked some favourite non toxic anti ageing products for you:

La Mav Anti Ageing Day Cream Review Liv Lundelius Natural Beauty Expert Green Makeup Artist Sydney

Natural Non-Toxic Miracle Workers For Youthful Skin:
Tata Harper Restorative Eye Crème hands down THE eyecream of luxurious eye creams.

It can be used as serum underneath your moisturiser am/pm or both and it’s great for all skin types.

Z’kin Line Smoothing Serum I know I keep mentioning this one, but it’s just a great product.
Lightweight, potent, it travels well and it is an eye cream as well as anti-ageing serum. No Botox required!

Z’kin Rejuvenating Moisturizer, just as great as the serum, just as a moisturizer. Best suited to normal to dry skins, this
is a nourishing anti-ageing moisturizer based on the latest research. Natural and high performance. This is great for all skin types and it absorbs quickly.

Expert Advice: Best Beauty Foods For Healthy Skin

Posted on: Wednesday, June 3, 2015

Pear Avo Smoothie Bowl
I am very excited to have health food expert, nutritionist and food blogger Monique Cormack, sharing er expertise.
I met Monique a little over a year ago when she booked me as makeup artist for her wedding.
Her knowledge blew my mind, so I feel grateful that she took my invitation to write a guest post for my blog.

Having radiant, clear skin makes you feel great and is really a beauty feature in itself.  While I take care of my skin externally by using simple, natural skin care products, I also make sure to nourish my skin from within by eating an abundance of foods that support skin health and regeneration.

So, what foods are good for healthy skin? A fun and helpful way to look at this answer is to think of the qualities we would like in our skin, and see them reflected in what we choose to consume.

Clear. This one is a bit of a no-brainer; I am talking about water! It is so important to stay hydrated, this will keep your skin looking brighter and fuller. Dehydration will be reflected in sallow, dry skin and tired-looking eyes. You can help to hydrate with liquids such as water, coconut water, herbal tea and vegetable juices. Also try to consume water-rich, hydrating whole fruits and vegetables e.g. watermelon, grapefruit, oranges, berries, cucumber, tomatoes, celery and lettuce varieties.

Clean.  It’s a bit of an overused term at the moment, but by eating “clean” I simply mean to cut back on processed foods and focus on eating as many foods as close to nature as possible. Fresh produce, lean meat, fish, eggs, raw nuts and seeds, smart carbs like sweet potato, brown rice, quinoa and buckwheat can be flavoured with herbs, spices, homemade sauces and dips without any chemical additives.  By removing processed foods you will also eliminate a lot of excess sugar from your diet, which can be a key trigger for bad skin.

Fresh. Making sure that the majority of the food you eat is actually fresh food, as opposed to pre-packaged convenience food, will help you on your way to having great skin.  Add a handful of fresh spinach to your scrambled eggs or breakfast smoothie.  Enjoy an orange or an apple together with a handful of raw nuts for afternoon tea.  Make sure that your lunch and dinner includes your favourite veggies, trying to include 2-3 different varieties (aim for 2 cups of veg) for a colourful plate; by eating the rainbow, you canvass a larger number of nutrients.

Vibrant.  Brightly coloured fruits and vegetables contain various micro nutrients which help to support healthy skin. Citrus, kiwi and berries are rich in Vitamin C, essential for collagen production (collagen is a major structural protein of the skin). Dark leafy greens are packed with fibre, minerals and antioxidant compounds which will improve digestion and help eliminate toxins from the body. Orange foods like carrots are rich in beta-carotene, a precursor to Vitamin A, an antioxidant which is also essential for skin health.

Glowing.  What helps you glisten and glow? Healthy, shiny FATS. I cannot stress enough the importance of including good quality fats if you want great skin. A number of nutrients needed for skin health, including Vitamins A, E and K, are all “fat-soluble”. This means that our digestive system absorbs them via a molecule of fat.  Include quality fats such as a few tablespoons of cold-pressed coconut oil, extra-virgin olive oil and/or organic butter. Chia seeds, raw nuts and seeds, oily fish, whole eggs, avocado and tahini are also excellent healthy-fat items to regularly include in your meals.

Toned. Protein! This is used in the construction of every tissue in your body. Skin cells are constantly regenerating, so we need to make sure we regularly consume adequate protein. This might be 2 whole eggs or approximately a 150 gram serve of meat or fish; plant-based sources include nuts and seeds, legumes and protein-rich “grains” such as quinoa, buckwheat and amaranth.  If you wish to use a protein powder, choose an additive-free one (I like Sunwarrior for a vegan protein, and the Bare Blends range is also very good).

Pear Avo Smoothie Bowl 2
Nourish Everyday Recipe: Skin Food Smoothie Bowl

This meal is so easy to throw together very quickly and makes a great breakfast, lunch or even a light dinner if you get home late and want to eat something that’s not too heavy before you go to sleep. I have chosen to blend together a selection of ingredients that are especially great for skin health. Avocado and chia seeds for essential healthy fats and a little protein boost.  Hydrating cucumber.  Cleansing, antioxidant-rich spinach for some essential leafy greens.  Pear for sweetness and an excellent fibre hit.  Top it with berries for your Vitamin C and also a sprinkling of pumpkin seeds, which are rich in zinc (great for skin and nails) and also magnesium (great for stress management – brides-to-be this is an important mineral for you!)

You need:
1 small pear (ripe or even overripe will work best)
¾ cup cucumber chunks
1 big handful baby spinach
½ avocado
2 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 scoop vanilla protein (I use Sunwarrior Vanilla in this)
½ cup almond/rice/coconut/oat milk
½ cup coconut water or water
½ cup berries (fresh or frozen)
1 tbsp pumpkin seeds

What to do:
Core and chop the pear up into chunks. Place the pear chunks and all the other ingredients, except the berries and pumpkin seeds, into your blender and process until nice and smooth. You can thin it out with a little more liquid if you prefer. Top with berries and pumpkin seeds.  (For a more indulgent smoothie you can also add some coconut flakes and cacao nibs as shown in the picture!)

How to get the Look – Luminous Beauty for White Magazine

I just received the latest issue of White Magazine and as usual it’s packed with beautiful inspiration, and honest articles on love, relationships
and marriage. For this issue I was asked to create a series of bridal beauty looks and hair trends for brides.
Here on the blog I share with you a little How-to on how I actually achieved these looks, together with
the products used and recommended products.

Luminous Blushing Bride
This look focuses on soft, radiant blush balanced with a subtle eye and lip.The only colour I used here is a radiant soft pink on the lips and cheeks.
Skin: Apply Inika Truly Organic Liquid Foundation with a soft kabuki brush.
It’s a great product but a very limited colour range.
It won’t mask the skin or lovely freckles while still evening out the skin.
Use a high coverage concealer only to cover redness or blemishes for an invisible flawless finish.
I applied Inika Light Reflect on top of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and cupid’s bow.
Use ILIA translucent powder only through the t-zone to keep excess shine at bay at the very end.
Eyes: Start with evening out the eyelid with a hint of a tinted eye-primer or foundation.
Apply a dab of Inika Creme Eyeshadow in Pink Cloud to highlight in the inner corners and apply a Jane Iredale Peach Sherbet Eyeshadow.
Draw a thin line with Jane Iredale Jelly Gel Eyeliner in Brown along the upper lash line.
Enhance your eyelashes by curling them and coating them with Longest Lash Mascara.
Apply the mascara right on the roots of the lashes to give that framing effect and a luscious thick lash line.
Brows: Fill in eyebrows softly with Jane Iredale Bitty Brow Kit and hold in place with Pure Brow Fix gel.
Cheeks: ILIA Multistick in “All Of Me” to the apple of the cheek and warm into the skin using fingers
Lips: Ilia Karma Chameleon Lip Crayon adds the perfect pop of colour leaving the lips looking moisturized.

Wild Braids
Prep the hair with a heat protecting texturizing product and blow dry your hair to get a great shine and voloume.
I used Yarok Feed Your Roots Mousse and my H2D Hair dryer.
Part your hair in the center and just behind the ear.
Start braiding one large section from the front and secure the ends with an elastic.
Wrap the section across your forehead where you wish to place it and secure with Bobbi Bins.
Repeat on the other side and place just above your first braid.
Braid the last 2 sections and pin in place so the head is evenly covered.
Now start messing the braids up! Gently pull sections in the braids to create more texture and an uneven modern look.
Spray with hair spray to enhance shine and hold style in place.
A great natural spray is Yarok Feed Your Hold Spray

All looks are created with 100% luxurious, toxin free and/or organic beauty products that create professional results,
while being good for you. I feel these looks are so versatile that they easily go beyond bridal and could of course be worn by anyone.
I hope you enjoyed and I stay tuned for the next looks!

Create a Beauty Ritual

Do you have a beauty ritual?
Do you look forward to your daily skincare routine? Do you absolutely love how your products smell and feel on your skin?
If you do you are much more likely to keep up and you get to relax and have fun in the process.
I believe that the pleasure of using products and to create a little self-care ritual around your routine is actually very beneficial to your skin
and most importantly to the way you feel.
I am so grateful I have recently connected with a fellow skincare lover and expert, the lovely Misty who is the inspiring woman behind the skincare line BLOOM.
We send long long emails back and and forth chatting away about skin & health, I feel we connected in such a great way that I just made a new friend on the other side of the world.
Created by a holistic nutritionist with a deep understanding of whole body health, this line truly felt different to all other natural skincare lines I have ever used.
You can tell that it’s not just another skincare line but rather one carefully researched and crafted with a holistic approach.
Can you tell, that I am a bit of a fan?
Within one week of using the products exclusively morning and night and having so much fun with the ritual in the meantime, my skin has transformed.
The few blemishes I had healed quickly without leaving scarring or redness, my skin is smooth and even toned and very well hydrated.
It glows, so that I even completely skipped wearing any foundation for a few days.
I received my products after one really long and exhausting day a few weeks ago and I fell in love immediately, from the moment I received the products which came in the prettiest colourful wrapping.

I am of course a little picky when it comes to skincare, as I receive so many samples and constantly get to work with new
and different products in my job, and I have to say: These products are different to anything I had ever tried before.

I took the skin type test on the website as all three steps in this skincare routine are uniquely created for a specific skin type.
The test decided that I would fit best into the Combination Skin Type.
I think the combination skin choice was spot on, as my skin is taking really well to the new routine.
The smell of my Nourish Serum is very relaxing and grounding and I can feel all the muscles in my face relax immediately.

Step 1: GLOW and POLISH

Glow is a wonderful botanical oil blend, that you can use as eye-makeup remover. Within the beauty ritual you then mix it with Polish to create a wonderful deeply purifying facial cleanser.
Polish is a powdery consistency, it buffes away impurities but isn’t not harsh like other scrubs. It also contains natural lactic acid to brighten and soften, from organic whole milk powder.
You can use turn your cleanse into a weekly face mask by leaving it on for 10 minutes before rinsing. And it feels incredibly nice!
Step 2: HYDRATE and NOURISH
Spritz your face liberally with HYDRATE and you will want to use it all day long! It’s a lovely hydrating spritz packed with essential nutrients that will allow your next step to really lock in that extra moisture.
Then you follow with a few drops of Nourish. I really love massaging the Nourish serum into my skin and personally love the smell so much that I inhale a few times to get the most out of the aromatherapy effects.
If you are feeling dry, apply NOURISH directly to your skin after using POLISH.
Step 3: RESTORE
Apply a small amount of RESTORE to the area around the eyes and elsewhere on the face, as needed. The area between the eye brows and the “laugh lines” next to the mouth are especially nice.
It’s a very concentrated potent little balm that my skin loves.

All products are 100% Natural, Crueltyfree, All BLOOM formulas are vegetarian or vegan, gluten free and preservative + toxin free and only contain with the freshest, safest, most luxurious ingredients for your skin type. The line does not use any fillers (including water) and as such a little goes a very long way.

I am hooked on my luxurious beauty ritual!
Please check out the BLOOM website which now offers a generous $20.00 shipping flat rate to Australia.
