The Six Week Bridal Beauty Prep PART TWO Cleansing & Exfoliating

Posted on: Monday, April 27, 2015

Liv Lundelius Best exfoliating beauty expert tips bridal beauty prep tata harper resurfacing mask clearisonic skin glow celebrity makeup artist

You have still six weeks to go and I hope you enjoyed part one, on how to get your Body glowing.
Let’s focus on the delicate skin of your face next.
Without question, everyone can benefit from regular exfoliation by using products with AHA (alpha hydroxy acid such as glycolic and lactic acids) or BHA (beta hydroxy acid, also known as salicylic acid).
Each provides multiple benefits, including fighting signs of aging and breakouts! Stick to products free of unneccessary synthetic fragrance and always ready the label!

GET THAT GLOW! Yay for AHA & BHA

Exfoliate once a week with a gentle AHA and/or BHA peel. This is my personal routine, some people prefer to use a mild exfoliation daily or every other day, everyone is different. My skin looks best when I exfoliate 1-2 times a week.
There are pads, gels, masks and cremes containing fruit enzymes, glycolic, lactic or mandelic acids, some products use a combination of different AHA’ s.
AHAs are preferred for sun-damaged and dry skin because they exfoliate on the surface of skin and have the added benefit of also improving moisture content.
If you are prone to break outs use a BHA product that contains Salicylic Acid.
BHA is preferred for oily, acne-prone skin and for treating blackheads and white bumps because BHA can get through the oil that’s clogging your pores, normalizing the lining of the misshapen pore that contributes to acne.BHA has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial action. Those are two more reasons to use a BHA exfoliant if you have acne or sensitive, reddened skin.
Both AHA and BHA work to reduce fine lines, stimulate collagen, and firm the skin.
There is no need to to physically rub and scrub and your skin when using these products, they work by gently loosing up the “glue” in between the dead skin cells, so that the old skin can come off without any damage to your skin. You will be left with a radiant glow. One of my favourite ever exfoliating masks is by Tata Harper, it gives instant radiance and is very gentle. It smells heavenly and the jelly texture is so fun.
I had the chance to meet the wonderful Tata in person in London and have been a fan of her products since. The resurfacing mask is available in Australia via Lulu&Lipstick, an awesome selection of beauty products from around the world that are hard to get in Australia.

NAY to scrubs
Many scrubs have a rough and uneven texture that can cause skin damage by tearing into the skin, causing tiny tears that damage the skin’s barrier. Scrubs often cause more problems than they could possibly solve.
If you do want to use a manual scrub, you can simply use a gentle washcloth with your daily cleanser, which works just as well to exfoliate the surface of skin as any cosmetic scrub you can buy. As a bonus, washcloths are softer (thus gentler) and of course they don’t contain pore-clogging ingredients that oily, acne-prone skin doesn’t need. With all types of exfoliation comes sun sensitivity, mainly because there are fewer layers of cells as protection so be mindful of using your sunscreen and staying out of the sun while it’s at its strongest.
For daily cleansing I recommend a very gentle cleansing milk, oil or balm that doesn’t strip the skin.
If you are a fan of natural cosmetics or got very sensitive skin, try using pure organic coconut oil as makeup remover.
Another gentle and fabulous option to clean your skin is the Clearisonic.
Use the sensitive skin brush heads, they are the best choice from my experience.
I have the “Mia” which is a travel friendly version and I looooove it.
If you prefer a foaming wash for your face make sure you will buy one without any harsh detergents like SLS or synthetic fragrances.
For makeup junkies and daily foundation wearers I recommend a double cleanse:
Step 1: Removing Makeup with an oil based cleanser. Step 2: Cleanser appropriate for your skin type

Do you need professional help?
Trust your own judgement. Does your skin respond well to your home treatments and is clear and soft most of the time?
Well then keep doing whatever you are doing and invest in good products for your home routine.
Once you turn 30, it is wise to get a professional peel or microdermabrasion (if your skin is not sensitive and thick) treatment every other month to encourage cell turnover and keep your complexion clean, bright and youthful.
With all acids, my recommendation is to make sure you stay under a 25% concentration.
Over the counter products will always be 10% or lower, however if you get a professional facial, request a percentage that is no higher than 25%.
This way you are ensuring a good result without too much irritation.
Stay away from strong, medical peels that reach the dermis, which is the living part of your skin underneath the epidermis.
In my opinion, those types of treatments are too invasive and do more bad than good by causing intense edema [inflammation] of the dermis, which ultimately ages your skin.

Other things to do 6 weeks out:
If you haven’t already done it, this is a good time frame for your hair & makeup trial with your makeup artist and hairstylist for the wedding day.
Schedule in other beauty appointments like your regular cut & color, eyebrow appointments etc.
Get your beauty sleep, eat well, worry less, move more. Be Happy :)

Real beauty comes from within. Your skin says everything about the kind of lifestyle you lead and most skin problems originate internally – the body is one whole integrated system so what’s going on inside our bodies will show up on our skin as well. That feeling of inner health shows up externally on our face and skin more than the best facial ever could.
All parts of your bridal beauty prep program from nutrition & exercising to meditation are therefore having a huge impact on your skin. Further here are some beauty, tips and tricks that will ensure your skin and hair will be in best condition and excelling natural radiance. Now read on and get that glow!

The earlier you start to create a holistic fitness, nutrition and beauty regime the better.
Besides the 6 week week beauty plan I will go through more general beauty prep, tools, products and techniques and expert Interviews.
I always try to stay on top of the latest products and ingredients and hope to share some insider tips with you, while I prepare myself for my own wedding day.

6 Weeks to go: Exfoliate & Detoxify

BODY BEAUTY PREP

Now it’s time to start your regular exfoliating regime. It’s super easy to get your body glowing.
Try daily Dry Brushing: All you need is a natural bristle brush and a body oil.
Why? I have listed some amazing facts below:

Benefits:
Removes dead layers of skin and other outer impurities.
Stimulates and increases blood circulation.
Helps release fatty deposits under your skin’s surface.
Assists the eliminative capacity of your body’s organs.
Rejuvenates your cells.
Strengthens your immune system.
Increases muscle tone.
Improves skin texture.
Helps prevent premature ageing.

How? Read my Step-by-step guide to dry skin brushing:
1. It’s best to dry brush first thing in the morning before you shower. I do it after my morning run or yoga session. Start with light pressure until you’re used to the sensation, then move on to firmer strokes.
2. Use a natural bristled brush. Avoid synthetic or nylon brushes or gloves as they’re too sharp and can damage the skin.
3. Start with the soles of your feet, use swift upward strokes and brush from the feet, up the legs, working towards your heart.
4. Once you’ve covered your lower body, move to your hands and work up your arms toward your heart in the same manner.
5. Next , brush your back (that’s why it’s good to get a long handle brush).
6. Last, work on your abdomen (moving in a clockwise direction to follow the movement of the colon), chest and neck. It’s best to avoid your face as most people’s facial skin is too sensitive.
7. Brush for about three-to-five minutes until your skin is rosy and slightly tingly.
8. Always shower after you dry brush to wash off the dead skin.
9. Immediately apply natural body oil onto the wet skin afterwards. You can use a luxurious blend of Oils or simply use organic unrefined Coconut Oil. Read here how to choose the right one.

And last but not least just a few little precautions:
Avoid on sensitive skin, varicose veins, open wounds, inflamed skin or painful rashes, sunburnt areas, breasts and other sensitive areas.
Seek doctor’s advice before brushing if pregnant or if severely/chronically ill.
Stop brushing if an allergic reaction appears.

If you want to really enhance that new glowing body, and your wedding dress is showing some skin, try a light shimmer lotion on your wedding day to highlight your collarbones and shoulders or legs.
I recently fell in love with the Youngblood Mineral Illuminating Body Tint, which I have used on beauty editorials.
It’s an all mineral and natural product, really fabulous!

Enjoy and keep it up! Keep posted for part 2, which will tell you all about exfoliating the face. :)

The Ultimate Bridal Beauty Prep Series: Coming Soon!

As you might know, Liv&Dave are getting married! Yes, that’s us!
It’s been a lot of fun working out the wedding details, and also just enjoying this special time.
The wedding planning is in full swing and while I am swamped with work I am set on the idea to write and share a personal bridal beauty guide for you,
giving pro advice from my experience as bridal beauty expert (which I have been lately called a lot) as well as my personal experience in how I prepare my body & mind for the big day. Wish me luck ;)

I am personally quite low maintenance, which you might not expect from a makeup artist and beauty blogger, but don’t forget that in the end of the day we all only have 24 in a day
and I am working long irregular hours, so I prefer to keep my own routine as simple as possible.
Yet I do want my skin and hair to look their best and also be in an overall good shape for our wedding, like any other bride.

I am working on a series of posts about tips & tricks, favourite products and techniques, as well as holistic beauty approaches.
Expect regular updates, blog-posts and Instagram posts on these topics!
I am happy to hear from you about any comments and questions that you might have and would love this to become a dialogue,
if you are up for it! Otherwise just read & learn, I hope you enjoy.
And quite obviously this is not just for brides to be, but all Ladies that want to up their beauty game.

To start off here are my Top Five Tips For Glowing Wedding Makeup:

1. Good skin care and skin prep are key, it’s best to start a good regime months before your wedding day: Regular exfoliation, a gentle good quality cleanser and a nourishing & balancing moisturiser are a must.

2. Less is more, only use foundation and concealer where needed, be selective and keep it fresh and natural.

3. Secret technique for extra glow: Massage your face with your hands to enhance circulation and radiance and stimulate lymph flow prior to makeup application.

4. Apply a liquid highlighter onto your cheek bones prior to your foundation.

5. Use a soft buffing brush for the perfect invisible makeup application to work a small amount of foundation into the skin.

Australian For Beauty- new botanical beauty products

red earth launch skincare liv lundelius makeup artist sydney

Today was a simply perfect day! After a Yoga session at home, I started my work day with a beautiful breakfast beauty launch held at Chiswick at the Gallery.
A fantastic new restaurant within the Art Gallery Of NSW.
The occasion was a interesting product launch of Red Earth and Coast To Coast.
Red Earth is relaunch of an Australian makeup & skincare line, while Coast to Coast includes a bath&body range as well as skincare. Both are inspired by natural ingredients.
The presentation and packaging of the products appears premium in many ways and is minimal and chic.
While NOT being certified organic the ranges are not tested on animals and contain a high percentage of active natural and organic ingredients and no artificial colours or fragrances.
It’s certainly not an all natural line, if you are an eco-beauty fan seeking 100% purity and toxin free products these lines are not for you.
There are still plenty of ingredients in this line which are potentially harmful and that I would personally avoid.
If you are after affordable, effective skincare with lovely smells & textures you should give these a try.
The founders believe that good skincare does not have to be expensive, and therefore both ranges sell at a very affordable price point.
The focus is on very active botanicals many of which are sourced in Australia to create potent skin care and makeup products that deliverresults.

Coast to Coast formulations include a host of exceptional native Australian ingredients.
Take Kakadu Plum; native to the northern tip of Australia, it provides the skin with six times the vitamin C of an Orange.
Tasmanian Sea Kelp, from Bass Strait, is a rich source of vitamins A, B, C & E, & contains
nourishing minerals & amino acids. Wild Rosella, Desert Quandong & Sea Parsley also add to the range
of scientifically proven actives chosen based on their merit, rather than aesthetic to visibly replenish & nourish the skin.

While I love the presentation of the brand I am afraid that the mentioning of natural ingredients might mislead consumers to think
this is a toxin free line that is certified organic. Therefore I have to make this clear: Read labels and don’t get fooled by Greenwashing.

Top 5 Summer Skin Favourites

Posted on: Friday, February 27, 2015

IMG_0329
As the hot days are in full swing and we have a few more weeks of Summer left over here in Australia, although, I am pretty optimistic.
Officially Summer will end this week. I am sure the warm weather will continue for a while though, and of course in Europe and many parts of the world,
you will be just preparing yourself for the warm season.
I wanted to share this seasons favourite products with you:

1. After a beach day or day where I have been working on fashion editorial makeup outdoors on location in the sun, nothing repairs and soothes my skin
like Zk’in Hydrating mist, I have even used it on light sunburns on the body. It feels amazing, cools the skin and targets UV-damage, it makes my skin glow instantly.

2. Malin & Goetz Eucalyptus Deodarant, my better half Dave actually got me on to this one, a true unisex product and I am impressed it works throughout the humid days,
without Aluminium, which I have been trying to avoid.

3. La Mav Organic BB Creme, yes I have mentioned this one before. See here for a full review. It’s just been my go-to everyday product.

5. Zk’in Rebalancing Lotion with it’s Matte Effect Active a true saviour on hot days underneath my makeup. Still hydrating enough to keep my skin supple,
it feels light and balancing. (P.S: If this was a top 6 I would totally nominate the Z’kin Brightening & Hydrating Mask an all-rounder mask, that works wonders.
It looks like chocolate and smells like licorice!)

Best BB for Summer and natural goodies

BB Cremes are the latest thing in beauty, and while I am not really fussed about the names beauty companies come up with each season for foundations,
I am still always interested in the new product itself, no matter if it’s a tinted moisturizer, foundation, bb creme, or another fancy marketing word.
To me as a professional makeup artist and sensitive skin every day makeup wearer it’s all about the quality of a product that determines if it will
secure a spot in my private makeup bag or professional makeup kit.

Today I wanted to introduce another addition to my own skincare/makeup bag.
The BB Creme from La Mav, is my go to staple on days off, when walking the puppy and on holiday or to protect my own face on destination photo shoots and weddings.
It’s also good for early starts, as it’s super easy to apply, just a couple of pumps straight applied to my skin with fingers after my moisturizer takes way less than a minute.
The BB Creme is mattifying, has natural sunscreen, anti-ageing skincare benefits, provides long lasting moisturisation, evens my complexion and the colour adapts really well to my skin.
Flawless in 30 seconds, that deserves a special mention. Like all La Mav products it’s also certified organic, vegan, cruelty free, and certified toxin free, which makes it perfect
for personal every day use. This is a light coverage BB Creme, that evens out little imperfections.

It’s my go to for the no makeup makeup days, and when my skin is good.
For the easy healthy holiday makeup, it comes as a makeup set in a package with a pretty lip gloss which is a real lip treatment in “Berry” , a mineral bronzer in “Sunkissed” (a tad too dark for myself) and a kabuki makeup brush, perfect to buff mineral powders into the skin. If you are a mineral makeup wearer, this is worth checking out.

If you are having problematic skin and are looking for a full cover BB Creme, check out my previous post about the Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Creme.

My Bali Boho Summer Makeup

I packed my own makeup bag for my upcoming Bali trip.
The natural mineral products by Ere Perez are especially good for humid weather and the natural mascara is waterproof so I can dip into the pool as well.
Here is my go to, beachy boho makeup look for hot summer days with Ere Perez makeup:

02erep
03erep
01erep

Start by using a BB Cream or tinted moisturizer with sun protection as a base on freshly moisturised skin, see one of my favourites here.

Next I use Sun Halo it’s a versatile highlighting cream bronzer, (or should I say bronzing cream highlighter?) with the most delicious vanilla smell.
Apply on the high points of the face with fingers or stippling brush to get an instant glow and sunkissed touch.
Use it on the bridge of the nose, cupids bow on the cheek bone and brow bone. It looks great on the eye lid too.
On the cheeks I use Bondi Blush the perfect blush for sunkissed skin. (although it suits pretty much everyone)
Just a hint on the apple of the cheek applied with a blush brush or small powder brush.
A hydrating lipstick Moisturising Macadamia Lip Colour “Me” is the perfect natural lip colour in a caramel brown, which makes my teeth look very white. WIN!
If you have a fair complexion try the colour “YOU”. It also protects my lips from the harsh UV rays.
I use a hint of Sun Halo on the lid and apply volumising waterproof mascara in Black

Done! There you have it a super quick and easy summer holiday look. I hope you enjoyed it.

That golden glow & a smooth affair

I have lately been thoroughly reviewing Jane Iredale‘s Glow Time Full Coverage BB Creme.

Due to moving house and other stressors my skin has not been at it’s best lately and I was in the market for more coverage in an every day foundation.
I found a good colour match for myself in the line, however there are limited colours available.
I wear BB7, a very yellow toned medium skin colour.

When I used it for the first time people commenting on how great my skin looks and if I was wearing anything and also asking what it was.
I was really surprised that people noticed. So I guess this has a really great finish.
Another big plus is that this product stays on all day, no matter how humid or long the day, it’s perfect for Summer and the beach due to it’s
sunprotection and water resistance.

The packaging is just amazing, a practical squuuueze tube in gold, with is great for travel and every day use while still locking beautiful.
When it comes to application be prepared to only use the smallest possible amount and follow the instruction: Place little dots in different areas of the face
before you warm and work the product with fingers into the skin from the center outwards. It takes some getting used to and if you use too much product it won’t work.
This product is VERY high coverage so you really only need a tiny amount, really great as one tube will last you a long long time.

I tried many different ways of using it and I found it was important to moisturize my skin well before and it works best with the Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Primer
(which smells delicious by the way), it makes my skin feel very smooth and supple yet it’s light and quickly absorbed, it also enhances the radiance.

Being a lover of a very dewy finish, I was a little scared how matte the BB Creme went on, how ever it sets very quickly on my skin and transforms into a radiant finish.
On days that I feel dehydrated I was setting it with Pommisst
Which seals it in and gives instantly more glow.

Glow Time covers my breakouts and scarring without the need of additional concealer and I have also worn it here and here, so you can see how it photographs in daylight.

I recommend this for:

Sensitive skin
Oily/Normal/Combination skin types
Summer
Beach
Everyday wear
Acne

My current fav products & a little interview

Posted on: Wednesday, November 12, 2014

IMG_9547

I had the pleasure of being interviewed over at Walter Osborne
sharing my favourite products and a little more about me.
Check out the full post over here and see my current top 10 below:

What are your top 5 (or 10!) desert island beauty products and why?

1) Avene Thermal Water – calms and refreshes the skin no matter how stressed or sensitive it might be.

2) Organic Coconut Oil – because I can only choose five products and this is such a great multitasker, that I love to use to remove stubborn eye makeup, as body moisturiser and as hair mask.

3) The Clearisonic skin cleansing brush – it works with any basic cleanser and performs a cleansing miracle.

4) Zkin Line Smoothing Serum – my favourite eye cream and anti ageing serum in one. Very potent yet organic.

5) A good mascara. I currently love Jane Iredale Longest Lash Mascara, makes my lashes look super long and whispy. I am a sucker for the gold packaging.
Hopefully if I would bring these five I wouldn’t require any further makeup…otherwise I’d be screwed as I haven’t really listed any foundation, concealer or colour products.

6) Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector – the best illuminator that I have ever found.

7) Chanel Pro Lumiere Foundation – this has been discontinued for years, but was an industry and personal favourite and I secretly hope that they will bring this amazing product back.

8) Veil Primer by Hourglass – makes everything used on top of it water resistant, a must for humid locations and long days or teary brides.

9) Jane Iredale Sugar&Butter, lip exfoliator and plumper – a little pretty genius product that exfoliates and then hydrates and plumps, the lip balm also has a very amazing sheer peach tone and golden shimmer to it. Looks great on it’s own or as lip primer.

10) By Terry Touche Veloutee concealer – so light and radiant, never settles in lines a staple in my kit.

A fresh start – body products that wake me up

Posted on: Friday, November 7, 2014

Lamav02We have recently moved house and while our new space is sun drenched with morning light warming our bed room,
in the midst of a busy season and the general moving chaos I have found it a little harder than usual to get out of bed in the morning.
Do you know those days?
Good thing La Mav, sent over their new body products…the perfect timing.

The Australian line of Organic skincare, is another favourite of mine within the truly natural, cruelty free and organic skin care ranges.
They also carry one of my favourite eye creams: Bio A7 Firming Eye Lotion.

The coffee body scrub, really wakes me up in the morning, the body lotion with the soothing smell of Rose Geranium melts the stress away and the fresh scent of the hand cream
keeps me alert during the day, I feel it’s a little aromatherapy trio that worked wonders for me.

To tell you a little bit more about the products:

The Coffee Bean Body Scrub has a base of coconut oil and feels very hydrating, my skin is immediately smooth and supple after using in the shower, and I love the smell, I wish I could use it every morning,
but I feel once to twice a week is enough exfoliation. If you haven’t used this before be careful not to use too much product, a little goes a long way and it’s a very loose texture
not really a paste. The first time around I lost quite a bit of this lovely product down the drain, so please be careful. The mess you create in the shower is worth it and it does not leave any residue behind.
Your skin will glow and feel super soft afterwards. Hooray for coffee scrubs.

The Noruish Hannd Creme is perfect for the desk, it comes in a clever packaging with a pump too and is easily absorbed, no sticky mess when typing.
It contains Coenzyme Q10 and Shea Butter to provide long-lasting protection from dryness. A true skin care product for your hands, keeping them young and supple.
It has quite a strong fresh citrus smell, I pick out the lemon myrtle oil contained here, so be warned if that’s not your thing.
Lemon myrtle has many health benefits and a lovely fragrance, however I prefer my day to day hand cream to be unscented and a little more neutral.
Right now I am enjoying the scent though.

The Nourish Body Moisturiser comes in a pump bottle and has a lovely rich texture which melts into the skin and absorbing fully without leaving any residue behind, perfect for Summer, but still very nourishing and definitely suitable for dry skin. I am really looking forward to using it each day. It will sure become a bathroom staple.

My sensitive skin liked all the products and I am hoping they will release a body wash as well. Maybe one that smells of coffee as well?

The latest in natural high performance zk’in care

I have a new favourite skin care line!
You can get very excited if you have been looking for an high performance skincare range, that delivers proven results and is yet
absolutely safe, certified organic to the highest international standard and has an incredible honest marketing approach.
It’s called Zk’in (pronounced simply “skin”)

A effective line of 12 products, offers enough selection for different skin concerns and ages.
I have been using the line for a couple of weeks now and was initially planning on writing about my favorite products.
This quickly become impossible as every single product was such a pleasure to use and just kept all the promises it made on the box.
Seriously, this is something I hadn’t experienced with other skincare.

I was lucky enough to meet the very inspiring founder of the line, Grace Culhaci in person and I was blown away; by her knowledge, her passion about the brand but most of all
her honesty. There are so many unique facts about this line, I don’t even know where to start…

If you are not obsessed with beauty and skincare, I recommend to just head out and start using the line, you won’t regret it and I won’t want to bore you with all the details.
All you need to know is: It’s working, it’s clean and it’s honest. All products feel and smell amazing too, some have natural coffee and cacoa extracts and excel gourmet aromas, while
the line overall has very neutral smells that aren’t overpowering. All textures are very fast absorbing, leaving a clean, hydrating and fresh feel to the skin. Wonderful!

In case you are more like me, VERY interested in beauty, please read on and be impressed by the details about this wonderful skin care products:

The products are created to the highest sustainability standards. While the package is well designed, looking all pretty and simple, its’ also completely recyclable.
It’s also food grade packaging, ensuring no toxins will be able to get into your gorgeous skincare through the use of toxic plastics (think BPA)
Zk’in products are not tested on animals and are vegan, CRUELTY FREE PRODUCTS. This is very important to me personally as I am a lifelong vegetarian and ANIMAL LOVER.

What impressed me as makeup artist was that Zk’in campaign images are stunning without the use of unrealistic photo-shopping, the model is shown as she really looks, with beautiful fine lines and natural flaws.
Showing real beauty and realistic images of women is another idea I love and would personally like to see more of. Extra brownie points earned here.
The line feels overall very well developed it seems that extensive research has been done to ensure that each product is absolutely safe to use and suitable for genuinely sensitive skin.
Often I hear people say that that they have sensitive skin and therefore stay clear of organic products, as they won’t usually react to conventional chemically loaded skincare,
the reason might be that a lot of the smaller organic ranges don’t invest in research, allergy testing and sensitive skin suitability to the extend that the big name brands too, which I always
thought is a real shame.

When I do pick products to be used in my professional makeup kit the main criteria is always the sensitive skin tolerance, as I don’t want to carry products that a high percentage of people will react too.
The Zk’in line is definitely suitable for professional use in a makeup kit in my personal opinion.
The hygienic pump packaging is another real plus and the most of the products are travel friendly.

Personal miracle experience:
I have lately developed a rash on my fingers, some form of eczema due to the frequent hand washing and sanitizing required in my work as professional makeup artist.
My sensitive skin suffered and started to look terrible. With the help of the Soothing Hand Cream by Zk’in and the relief moisturizer my skin has gone back to normal within a week
and healed completely! No need for any medication or cortisone treatment! If you have problematic skin that is dry, sensitive or even flaking, try this cream!

I will from time to time introduce a single product of the line and will review single products. As the line is too amazing to tell you all about it in one short blog post.
Oh and by the way, it’s affordable too. Moisturizers are about AUD $45.00, cleansers under AUD $30.00, so this won’t break your bank either and is worth every penny.

Summary: Incredible high performance skin care line that is suitable for sensitive skin and 100% ethical and organic! Suitable products for all skin concerns are included in the line,
from anti-ageing to acne or dry skin, the range covers it all!

Mental Springclean & The Busy Trap

Posted on: Friday, August 29, 2014

cca74d3572e672b1cc314391bc865f30

I can’t wait for spring and sunshine which really puts me in the mood for a good spring clean.
I started with a good apartment clean, followed by sorting through files and getting on top of organizing everything
and getting ready for the next season.
But also I started picking up my own meditation and Yoga practice and am in the process of getting back into a good
exercise routine and more fresh and detoxifying food.
I also limited my coffee intake to one a day.

I will cleanse my skin from the inside out. Personally I can always see when stress and busy times take over, how my skin reflects this immediately.
With the change of season I am doing an internal Spring clean, keeping clear of any negative thoughts, let the god vibes roll and
get my radiant skin back.
As I am a bit of a workaholic I really need to remind myself to keep a healthy balance.

Time for self care is so very important, getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, regular exercise and quiet time…
It seems like the most simple changes have the biggest impact.
Today I had a day to myself (as we speak) time for Yoga, meditation, and pampering while getting normal house stuff done.
All the things that I haven’t gotten around to in toooo long.
The little things make all the difference. Today I am just happy and grateful for everything I have got.
A mental spring clean.

Do you ever fall into the busy trap?

Saturday was a big day, my first makeup workshop in Australia! It was held at Create Or Die studio in Marrickville.
It was so much fun and I am so grateful to for the wonderful team of supporters and partners that came on board to make it all happen.
I can safely say the long days and short nights leading up to the day were SO worth it.
The day went by so quickly so I was extra excited about the photos and I can’t wait to see the video, once it’s edited as well.

All guests were so lovely and curious. I was blown away by their enthusiasm and passion for makeup.
I really hope everyone took home new tips & tricks and is encouraged to try new products and techniques.
I could have not hoped for a better crowd!
Every time I mentioned a new topic one million more techniques and pieces of advice would come to into my head.
Questions were asked and new solutions demonstrated.

I could have made this workshop last for a whole week and still would have had more to share…
However I think everyone got a good taste and some insider tips during the day.

The workshop was a mix of tutorials shown on our pretty model Jessica and hands-on times, were everyone would have the time to experiment and try new techniques
on their own faces. Of course there was Champagne, drinks and nibbles as well.

I love a good challenge and bringing together an event like this was definitely a good one.
Thank you for all the wonderful people who contacted me already and asked for further workshops and invited me to come to their cities.
As international makeup artist, I love to travel and the Sydney Makeup Workshop was a great start.
I will get onto planning and we will make it happen, eventually!

I had to share my most recent discovery for sensitive eyes & sensitive skin: Ere Perez!
The beautiful, healthy and all natural products are suitable for the most sensitive skins and eyes.
And I am absolutely in LOVE with the mascara, which does not make my eyes itchy after a long day, it’s beautifully BLACK and it strengthens the lashes as well.
Quite something. Their sleek white packaging makes it even more fun to use the products.
Staples in my won makeup bag currently are:

Natural Almond Oil Mascara
Pure Rice Powder Bondi Blush has the most amazing flattering peach tone & amazing longevity
Real Rosehip Lipbar in NUDE, the most amazing nourishing nothing colour! So pretty and always in my handbag.

I can’t wait to try more of these gorgeous products!
Below some of my recent favourites: Clearisonic Brush, Eau Duelle by Diptyque and the pretty minimalistic Ere Perez products.
